The reality is unless you live in Colorado and can take time off between Sept20-Oct-15 to make scout missions out there or just reside in the crested butte area for that 25 day stretch you’re chances of hitting peak foliage for a two day window are slim. We got lucky last fall, thought it was gonna be to late but actually hit the peak. You just never know, it’s a gamble to book hotel rooms super far in advanced. You kinda just gotta stay updated with crested buttes social medias, keep an eye on the weather, and have the ability to make last minute bookings.
I absolutely agree with you. It is a total gamble… and since we’re from California, we had to make reservations in advance and just hope for the best. Luckily, a few days after driving Kebler Pass we ended up in Telluride and also drove the Million Dollar Highway. It was Fall Foliage to the max!!
I'll be passing not too far from Kebler Pass next week when I take the California Zephyr! Most of the fall colors will likely be gone by then, but I'm still super excited :)
That’s awesome! I’ve heard on numerous occasions that the California Zephyr is one of the most beautiful train trips in the US. Have fun and enjoy the scenery… I’m slightly jealous.😎✌️
Great video..I'm actually hoping to be out there soon. I'm still trying to decide what dates are best as I will be driving from Florida and it will take atleast 3 days to get out there.
Hi @ceezfotography - Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed the video! You will see fall foliage towards the end of Sept into early Oct… but you’ll want to be flexible on your location in Colorado. We were in our RV and had to book reservations well in advance, not sure what the hotel situations are like. Good luck to you and looks like you’re into Photography… would love to see what you capture on your trip!
Climate change has been pushing the color change a week later over the last 10 years. Just relax your fomo pressure, the forest is gorgeous every day and the lack of cell coverage is a nice and humbling reminder that the best things in life are offline.
Beautiful, and thanks for the info.
Thanks for watching!
Yes love it
❤️

Great point and thanks for the reminder! 😎
Can you do a video on the van you drive?
Hello @wtpwtp - I have a few more Colorado videos I’m finishing up and I’ll create a video on our Leisure Travel Van.
