Skiddy Fishing
United States
Приєднався 12 гру 2021
Welcome to Skiddy Fishing friend! I am passionate about our native trout and char of the west! Watch me tackle various slams, challenges, and strive to meet and greet native fish from all over. I do enjoy western fly fishing but tenkara and fixed line rods bring me closer to native trout than other methods of fishing! I occasionally dip into multi-species and ice fishing. Whether it's sub zero temps, or high mountain headwater trout country, you will see Skiddy fish year round!

Tough Creek Fishing With @KevinRapkochFishing
Kevin came up from Arizona to celebrate the New Year in the Salt Lake area. We talked about the Provo River but I offered a little slice of where I like to fish. It was a gamble due to it being winter conditions and naturally the fishing was tough as a result. However we were able to grind out a few fish and then Kevin found some great luck in the reservoir above the creek. You can see his POV here and give him a sub!

Scofield Ice Fishing MULTI-SPECIES
Переглядів 1,2 тис.28 днів тому
Kelly is a featured guest of this episode. He is a Wasatch Tenkara Affiliate but we typically don't collab on the behalf of WTR rods so this video is not a sponsored collab. I have sold all of my ice rods that are not WTR as I have really trusted their ice rods for the best experience and this multi-species day of cutthroat, tiger trout, and rainbows just sells to me why we use Wasatch Tenkara ...

This is a collaboration video with Keiyru Rod Co. They sent me this rod to test/demo. My main plan is to nymph tailwaters this winter but as I did my due diligence on the rod, I noticed their site marked the following "*The mini-jig was something we admittedly had never tested. We've done quite a bit of testing with artificials (we are fond of the Nikko hellgrammites and caddisfly products) but...
Henry’s Lake Fly Fishing #cutthroat
Переглядів 350Місяць тому
This is my second attempt to fish Henry's Lake. My first did not go so well and I caught a handful of Chub. This lake is very shallow but filled with some absolute bruisers as you will see. This trip will land four new PB Yellowstone Cutts with the last one ending around 20" and finally ending the trip with a FAT 20.5" brook trout hen! She was mean and took me about 10 minutes to land. I was st...
Podcast: Thankful For These TENKARA Brands 🦃 🍂
Переглядів 341Місяць тому
This is just a casual video. I do not intend to sell you on these brands but as I grew a passion for tenkara, these were the brands that were most accessible and were interesting to watch grow. It's safe to assume that most intermediate tenkara anglers have at least one rod from the mentioned brands and many new yet to discover will also find these brands. These are my perceptions of what they ...

Man! I would've loved to join the both of you! We still need to get out together
You're brave for even getting out and fishing! Nice video
Haha thanks man! I takes a lot to hold me back!
What fly were you using?
Probably an adams fly knowing me this year.
Beautiful scenery with the snowy background.
As tough as it can fish, it’s beautiful regardless! I do enjoy winter scenery! 😃
Winter and you were out and caught fish. That’s a winning combination all the way around. Happy new year
We were definitely grateful! Happy new year to you too! 🥹
Wow, awesome spot, so much snow and good to ge out fishing today with Kevin and enjoy the day.Great video, enjoyed the trip, thumbs up and greetings to you and Kevin from NZ,, Tony.
Hopefully it’s warm where you are 🥶
Skiddy! It was great fishing with you, brother. The video turned out well, good job creating with footage from a pretty tough day of fishing. We'll do it again, my friend. Tight lines! 🙂✌️🎣
I pronounced Kevin's last name wrong multiple times in this video. HOW EMBARASSING! Anyway, he was cool with it like the cool dude he is. Thanks for a good time Kevin. Come back in the summer and we will quadruple the catches. If you want to save 15% on a Rocky MTN Tenkara rod, I have an affiliate link in the description.
I purchaed the PARAMOUNT Meridian Z and they are total garbarge. Absorb water and leak afte third wear. Replacment pair performed exactly the same and Paramount refused to acknowledge defective product. It is like the waterproofing comes off in water. DO NOT PURCHASE PARAMOUNT WADERS - THEY LEAK AFTER VERY LITTLE USE.
I have reservations on zippered waders. Though the concept is nice I would think the longevity of the same type in Simms would be the same. However the Deep Eddy is more of a standard wader vs that niche product. Sorry to hear that was a bust for ya!
O yeah, I think this was fish of the year for my money.
Wow so cool...
😇
Nice one! Way cool to see you catch so many fish through the ice. I'm lucky if I catch 1 on a trip. haha!
Ice fishing is very hit or miss for me and requires multiple moves before I score some numbers!
That was so cool! Such a simple way to catch some gorgeous fish!
Those were amazing fish! So cool to catch that Yellowstone Cutties out of so many new places/states. Makes me want to head out that this year. Awesome!
That is one spectacular place. Believe it or not it’s only like 20’ deep. Fish it in the fall. That was my third Yellowstone in 3 states. Totally not planned! 🥹
Holy crap! This video shows how massive your Tenkara knowledge and passion is. That's incredible! I don't know how you do it all, but I am glad you do.
I appreciate your kind words and our friendship. Equally grateful for your content too.
Not a ton of fish, but what a beautiful area to fish all day! Five lakes in 1 day is pretty epic! I know a spot where we can catch a bunch of grayling. I'll have to take you up there.
If we would’ve stayed stagnant and I had a more proper rod, I think I could have tripled down on time. You will have to believe me when I say I missed 30 grayling hooksets. That took more than half of the day. 😭
Holy smokes dude
I said the same thing 😂
Awesome year and congrats on 2K.
Thanks Stacey!!! 🙏
This is always a wholesome moment when fishing
Especially after a couple hours of a few or no catches! 🤗
Haha, heck yeah Skiddy! 🤙🤙
Hey man I know you on Fishbrain I’m @lilshuemacher
I couldn't give a like on the video because you were easily convinced to leave just because you hadn't had a bite in a while. And i dont like that
🙄
Lol we caught like 10 fish in 5 hours. This is a highlight of the video. Can’t say we are equal fans of jumping to conclusions 😁
@@skiddyfishing Oh man, when it's that slow I am inlcined to eat one, but 11"... insulting lol.
Dang! Your net wasn't big enough! 😂 Amazing!
The ultimate first world problem
Huge Cuttie!!
🥹🥹🥹
Thats a beauty! You need a bigger net though dude!
Haha the same spot a year before had only 12-15” fish. I would have never guessed a tank was gonna be there.
Awesome!!!
Hey how do you like them now still? Have you tried them a bunch ? I'm in Canada looking at getting a pair, and these seem like a good, "first time" pair maybe ? More so because it won't break the bank. Haha
I have had to seal one leak so far since this video. It was minor and some aqua seal took care of me. I have fished 1-2 times per week since this video posted usually 5-6 hours per trip. I love em!!!
Congrats. Great year and am very happy to be part of your 2000+. Happy new year.
Thanks Garry. Each one is invaluable! I appreciate your support and hope I can deliver my best content for you in 2025!
Awesome year! Congrats on the 2k subs! That's epic! Thanks for the shout-out and awesome adventures together. We'll have to have more of them in 2025
Anytime my friend! I would love more collabs this year. We seem to always get into them.
Nice work and congrats on the 2K subscribers, keep it up and greetings from NZ,, Tony.
Thank you for the support from down under, Tony! 🙏
Congrats on the 2K subscribers! That sucker still eludes you! 😂 Congrats on the lofty 2024 tick list and good luck in 2025! Keep on catching those cutties bc we don’t have them in the driftless!
Haha yea I need to target them in May when they’re fiesty at pre-spawn. I want it on a fly so I am not making it any easier! Thank you Jared and wishing you good fishing fortune this year and to your personal goals too. Ill do some research on your southern Utah visit and try get some local intel. 😎
I enjoy your videos, thanks for taking us along. Looking forward to 2025.
Thank you immensely for your support friend! It will be one for the books I promise. :)

Thats great. Lived in fla., when the ditch would fill up in front of my grandmas house.we would fish their. Caught some nice fish.
Sometimes the smallest waters have the biggest catches! I love a small creek. That sounds fun. I would love to fish Florida someday.
Nice fish man
Thank you! Believe it or not that was not the biggest from that day haha! I landed a 17” just before that in the full video. 😂😎
Thanks or the compilation. I enjoyed reliving the excitement. Totally genuine. Have it on my list to accomplish.
Thanks Garry! I fantasized about this adventure for 6 months so to finally live it was nothing short of pure zeal! Now I anxiously wait for spring for the next state! 🫠
Hi thanks for nice well done video..I'm fishing salmon in river can u advice about the rod and level line size to catch salmon ..thx
Thanks friend! I would advise a longer fast action rod like this Siyco or Wasatch Tenkara Rodzilla with the spey handle! I am not sure about tippet. I would imagine 3x-1x!
Thank you for another great video! This motivates me to pursue an Idaho Cutty Slam!
It would be cool if Idaho did a slam! Redband, bull trout, yellowstone, westslope, and Bonneville
A couple of those cutties were huge for how high you were on that small creek! Awesome!
Sweet Cutthroat you got out of there! I love getting those beauties out of Strawberry.
Probably some of my favorite none native trout to target!
The Grave Digger is one of the first Kebari flies that I ever purchased and it has been a staple in my box ever since. I use it during any season and it works really well!
I can totally agree with that!
Great comparison video for all of these premium rods! I haven't ever looked into Tanuki before, but I did while watching your video. If you do end up buying one, I'll have to borrow it 😉
I got the 325 and you should definitely cast it on our next adventure.
This is the perfect beginner Tenkara video! I wish this existed when I was first learning. You did have a few other videos out that helped me get started, but this is amazing! Thanks a ton, Skiddy. This also helped me with a few pointers and I have been doing Tenkara for a while now.
You are too kind Kyle! Thank you for the support. If you have any local friends that are just getting into it, be sure to send them this video! :)
These are the exact waders that I have and I love them! The "hoodie-like" pocket where you can warm your hands is one of my favorite things about these as well. You were dead on about the length of time that these last. They have a few holes after my second year. I am very rough of them too.
I have some micro seams I have patched too. Fishing every weekend means I am rough too! 😂 still going strong though.
That "Current Fly" feature is awesome! I know how much work that takes and it is way cool to see that. Thanks for all the work you put into these sweet videos! Congrats on completing the WY Slam!
Thank you for your support and friendship throughout the years. I am very eager to see your final video as it was the only one I wasn’t there for.
Thank you for sharing your experience with the Foxfire! It is definitely my favorite for small, overgrown creeks! I have one in each color. My experience has been that if fished in the middle or shortest length, it is a bit stiffer and I'm able to get good hooksets. It's also great for fishing dry flies in it's full length configuration! As you demonstrated, the Foxfire is capable of landing larger trout! I love that Tenkara is finally receiving the recognition that it deserves! Thank you for what you and other UA-camrs are doing to share your experiences with the art of Tenkara!👍
Thank you so much for your support and kind comment! The FoxFire is certainly a tough little guy and I can see what you mean by stiffening the action with the shorter zooms! I found the sweet spot for glass to be 9-10' and I would love to see DT make a rod to fit that! At the end of the day, it's all about having fun! Good luck on your adventures friend! :)
@@skiddyfishing I also have two of the Aventik 10' glass rods and they are pretty great as well.
Keep it up
Thank you friend!
