Hybridizer Sann - High Pivot eMTB using Bafang
If you're looking for an ebike to build and you want something capable and versatile, this one should be on your list for considering.
The Hybridizer Sann is a high pivot alloy frameset with 164mm of travel. Adjustable geometry for altering chainstay length and bb height independently. Along with being suitable for 160mm-180mm travel forks. Up to a whopping 860wh battery weighing 3.66kg and a minimalist interface for the system.
Finally, this frameset can be paired with motors peaking over 1000w & 140nm of torque. Or, 750w and 95nm of torque.
I don't use the term 'versatile' likely when depicting ebikes. But this one seems to tick alot of boxes😯
Keep a watchful eye, as I'll be featuring this ebike (and much more frameset ebike options) in upcoming content✌🏿

It's been a while since I've swung a leg over an alloy frame emtb which uses the Bafang system😅 The Vitus E-Mythique LT 297 is marketed as a capable "enduro-esk" EMTB, boasting modern geometry and a capable chassis at an affordable price. Powered by the Bafang M510 and a 630wh battery, could this bike "Truly" keep up with the rest of the 2024 emtbs? Only time will tell. But I'll share my though...
I'm pretty sure the Bafang M510 motor can achieve 700W PEAK!!!⚡️

Originally recorded, in an effort to show the difference between the Bafang M510 & M820. However, that didn't go to plan. Nevertheless, this short edit did prove that the M510 is capable of achieving 700w PEAK output (even powered by a 36v battery). Go figure!!!😲 Rest assured, more content to come. including the Vitus E-Mythique LT, Dengfu & other brands. So keep a watchful eye✌🏿

How much stuff can you stash in the frame storage? Doesn't look like you can put much in there
You can stash a tube in there, provided you fold it very compact. Alternatively, a small pouch can fit in the internal storage. I guess you could stash a multitool in the pouch. Bit the external storage underneath the toptube would be more useful for essentials. Just make sure you buy straps if you intend on using them👍🏿
Hybridizer Sann with N560 versus Dengfu E55 with M630 video please🙏🏽
I'm pretty sure the E55 would take the win in terms of power and speed. Conversely, the Samn would take the win in terms of capability offroad👍🏿
Good job, Neeko
Aaaand just like that they have upped the price of this bike ... such a shame
Hi, is this tool also compatible with a Bafang BBS02B motor?
Dude!!! What is with you and snapping chains😂 Good video
Dude is constantly testing eMTBs in weather I wouldn't even drive in.
Lol. It's the UK. When it rains, it poors😅👍🏿
Range test please👍
Coming soon👍🏿
Nice vid. So the high pivot drive train seemed to keep the rear more planted in jank? I hear that is the main reason for it and that pairs well with a motor unit, kind of like the new Trek Slash +.👊
Possibly. Truth be told, I've not tried another high pivot ebike or mtb. So I'd rather not generalise and say that all high pivot bikes ride the same. But I can (and have) noticed a difference compared to horst link 4bar suspension platforms which I'm more familiar with👍🏿
@@neekodevinchi so better than 4-bar linkage likely?
I would say so. Considering that I'm using a Rockshox Select+ and I haven't needed to mess around with it extensively (otherthan change between 30-35% sag when changing between 27.5-29er rear end) and factoring in the rear shocks which I've specifically hunted down to pair nicely with the 4bar emtbs I've built. But I wouldn't mind trying a coil shock, just to verify that👍🏿
@@neekodevinchi different subject: what inboard display is Bafang using with their M560?
It's called the DPC030 DIsplay. I've 3 other ebikes which will use this toptube DIsplay. So I'll do my best to feature them in upcoming content👍🏿
Your video description here, says "I don't use the term 'versatile' *likely* when depicting ebikes"; even if you were likely to use it, I'm sure you'd use it with gravitas.
Perhaps the term 'versatile' is used too often, in an effort to convey the capabilities of said ebike. But please understand Prophet. Versatility is relative, depending on circumstance. Whilst I do recognise that other framesets can equally support Bafang motors. Very few have adjustable geometry. And can be purposefully adapted to suit the preferences of each rider. Me being a tall rider, I do prefer 29er rear wheels. And the chainstay length of 455 suits that. However with a 27.5 rear wheel, it can be reduced to 437mm for more nimble handling. BB height, headtube angle, seat tube angle, reach etc can equally be amended by way of the flip chip. And we can't forget that the frameset is CAT5 ASTM (Essentially downhill rated). So it's not going to break easily. So yeah. This frameset is versatile in my book👍🏿
Great video. Thanks for all the details and information.
Cheers Boyd. Much appreciated. Keep up your vids as well👍🏿
Great vid, I'm sure you've already said but how much does it weigh, I've currently got a dengfu e10 and my only gripe is it's weight. Doesn't bother me too much like I still love it, but I'd be tempted buy one of those when my dies if it's a few kg lighter.
Mine's weighing 25.3kg. From what I've seen from other builds, 25kg-26kg is the average weight of the Hybridizer Sann fully built. Naturally, components, motor and battery size will change the weight👍🏿
That transition sound hurts the ears when using headphones, mate. :)
Apologies for that. I'll bear that in mind for future uploads👍🏿
@@neekodevinchi Thank you very much! I just stumbled over your video and enjoyed your calm and informative style.
Hi! Thank you for this video. I’m going to buy a cf50 frame. May I ask you how tall are you ? Is the xl frame suitable for a person 190 cm tall? Thank you.
Hi there, Yes. I too am 190cm (6foot 3inches). And the xl framesize fits me perfectly (even with a 40mm stem). I use a 200mm dropper, slammed fully into the seat tube. Personally, I prefer to use 29er wheels F&R. But mullet setup can be done as well👍🏿
@@neekodevinchi thank you! Perfect!
I'm 176 cm (5’9”) tall. Should I go in medium frame or large one ? I really can't decide...
I suspect you'll prefer a medium E55. If you were 5' 11", I would reccomend the large👍🏿
What? UA-cam actually recommended me a good informative video?! Thanks for your work!
Great video mate 👍 I live in West Brom I’d love to meet up for a bike ride. 😊
hey if i were to limit motor to only 500watt could i still go 40kmh or 30 kmh? what is the range with it on maximum going on lets say 25kmh?
e bike specific anything is marketing CRAP !!!
My Eddy Current tires were leaking sealant from the side walls and two knobs fell off ! POS tire !!!
you need a better mic yo
Impatiently awaiting an update on this machine
Yo! just ordered my e55! Would a FOX 38 FLOAT FACTORY GRIP 2 27.5 2022 170 15x110 44mm and FOX FLOAT X2 FACTORY 2022 230x57.5 work on the e55 frame?
Hi there, Yes. You can use 27.5 wheels in the E55. However, you may find that the bottom bracket height is a little low. But some riders (myself included), prefer lower bottom bracket heights. As for the 230x57.5 shock, it will fit. But the amount of rear wheel travel will be less. However, Fox x2' do use travel reducers. So it might be possible to extend the stroke internally to 60mm👍🏿
@@neekodevinchi Thanks!
Nice build and nice bike.
Dude, nice video but please be mindful of other people. Mountain bikers have a bad rep already, dont wheelie onto pedestrians and give them a bit more space. 3:24.
Good point👍🏿
hi Neeko, i'm curious to know what gearing you ran in the back? the manual says you can't go above 46T else you can damage the frame. Or when you do your full review, i would like some feedback into if it's ok to run like 12 50/52T? thanks.
Sincere apologies for the delay. I'm pretty sure that the chainring size can't exceed 40t. But the cassette range/ratio isn't an issue. I'm still using the stock 34t chainring with a 11/50t cassette. I've had no issues in either MX or 29er setup. The only thing is that the chain link count needs to increase when you swap between the 27.5 rear drop-out to 29er drop-out👍🏿
The only thing that puts me off this is the high pivot thing, and I don't know why. It's not like chains are that expensive, it's just the fact I don't want to buy two every time. Anyway that's just me being weird the bike looks awesome.
Hi, Neeko I have got a question. So I have a M200 bafang motor on a accolmile bike. My display is can bus the one with a triangle shape. I just want to change the speed limit but it is locked on 25. The manual of the screen only lets me access the info but not change it. Would you know if this would help?
Hi there, Yes. The Besst Tool can change the speed limit for any Bafang CANBus motor👍🏿
I used to ride at the valley quite a lot in the winter months, good for a pedal in all conditions. Good video. 👍
Does it cut out power with m560 when using peak power? Hybridizer informed me it might do it with 560 motor.
I haven't had issues with the the battery cutting out throughout the M560 achieving peak output on a sustained 5min climb. I don't have details on the discharge rate of the battery. But the bike so far has been virtually problem free👍🏿
With all the DIY ebikes you've built. I'm surprised you haven't made a top 10 ebike frame video Something to consider Neeko👍🏽
Indeed!!🤔👍🏿
Interested to see more of this bike. Just built a sann for my wife. Its the 2nd generation model with 730w and 510 motor i believe. Seems like a pretty good frame.
Every time I hear heavily loaded chain clunk during shifting, I'm wondering whether you continued pedaling a bit harder than ideal for shifting, or if the motor's cutoff during shifting is a bit too late \ too brief, or if the motor's existing spin applied the excess torque due to sheer momentum? It took more than one test session for me to get the m620 to disengage just long enough for a clean shift, but at high RPMs, it still free spins long enough to give the chainline a slight kick whenever a shift occurs a bit slowly. It doesn't make a loud thunk, though... That thunk sounds like a _lot_ of torque, slapping into place?
No size for me ;) 196cm, should be at least XL size frame, for me only dengfu e82 :(
I see your point. I'm 6foot 3inches. I'm using a reach adjust headset to maximise the reach on the large. But I'll share my thoughts in terms of fit and feel in the full video👍🏿
At 208cm, I'm particularly interested to hear your thoughts about sizing, geometry, weight & handling, of the Frey Dopamine & any other high pivot ebike frames that tend to run large.
I wonder how it’s gonna ride as a full 29er setup! Can’t wait to see. Everything about this bike is making my mouth water.
After many years riding a 29er, I'm ready for the shorter chainstay lengths (& handling advantages that come with that) possible with a mullet layout...
Holy mackerel, I cannot believe my eyes. An alloy frame running a Bafang motor. Shame it doesn’t come in something more Cross Country and Enduro but what I wouldn’t give for a test ride. 😎
We can arrange something Christopher. I do need to head down to Cannock Chase to shoot some ride footage. So pm me and we'll go from there👍🏿
@@neekodevinchi BTW: Only my mortal enemies call me by my surname. My friends call me JC.
I'll have an alloy frame over a carbon frame all the time. Looking forward to the video neeko👊🏽
Nice work mate !!!
Weight may be an issue. Cost and support is definitely an issue. Given the state of the ebike industry now, in the US you can buy a complete full carbon frame emtb (with 2 year warranty) for less than you can build out that aluminum frame. And a battery going bad is always an issue. Can't ship it back...."dangerous materials". Been there. At least if you purchase locally you can return the battery if it goes bad. I like the Geo though.....looks like the Santa Cruz or Pivot. Just too expensive. When Bafang establishes a US facility for sales and distribution it'll make more sense.
I don't disagree, that a suitable carbon frame could be had for less than this frame costs... I wouldn't buy based on vehicle warranty, though; most have enough caveats that they're not worth the paper they're printed on. That said, the most well-equipped ebike in our own little fleet of vehicles, is a white-label-ish Chinese assembled model, that did indeed come with a warranty & well known components, for not much more than this frame costs.
They don't offer directly the possibility to upgrade to the bafang 560...ans it seems that you Can have a custom paint as well...nonetheless this seems quite a Monster 😮
Isn’t this alloy frame more expensive than the Dengfu carbon and the welding lines look atrocious.
I've seen worse weld joints on mainstream alloy emtbs. The headtube, toptube and seatstay have a hydroformed finish. However, you have raised an interesting point about the price comparison between hybridizer and Dengfu👍🏿
Awesome. How much does your bike weigh exactly?
Currently, 25.5kg. but i might be able to shave some weight off with selective components👍🏿
Will hybridizer make an ebike with the M620/M630?
...you never know🤫
