Hi there! I'm Alyssa, the recipe developer, food photographer/videographer, and blogger behind The Floral Apron, a recipe blog with cleanup ratings for every single recipe.
I don't think you should have to choose between beautiful photos or well-written instructions when you're looking for a recipe, so I test my recipes multiple times, write them for beginners, and even take pictures every step of the way so you always know what to expect! That way everyone can feel confident tackling even the most challenging of baked goods 💛
Baking, decorating, stirring, cooking, arranging, simmering, organizing, thoroughly reviewing kitchen gadgets-those are all my jam (especially stirring).

will a 14 inch pan fit ( 13 inch with 1/2 inch handles on each side) Need to know before I get one
glad things worked out for you.. I’ve had my eye on buying one of these wonderful machines for years after having a nomadic lifestyle working around Europe I’m happy to say I purchased one a week ago ,at last!! Anyhow, wishing you many years of happy baking Best wishes KCB👍🇬🇧👨🍳
Thank you; same to you! I'm glad you were finally able to get one, and I hope it lasts you a long while :)
Making this with my daughters tonight! Thank you for sharing your recipe. ❤
Sounds so fun! Hope you all enjoyed 💛
Update: they came out SO good. We did a tray of blueberry and a tray of nectarine, they were amazing! This recipe will definitely be a staple. Thank you again! 💕
Aw, yay, I'm so happy to hear that!! If you get the chance, would you also leave a starred review on the recipe card on my website? It goes a long way to both grow my blog and help others decide if they want to make the recipe (like if they found the recipe on a different social media platform and don't see this review). Thank you so much! :)
@@FloralApronBlog Yup, done. ☺️
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate it 💛
Do you have a recipe. It looks delicious.
Yep, on my website! floralapron.com/small-batch-cherry-jam/
Loved you review of the breville ... Thank you for that... We are thinking about getting it .. For this video... Love the organization!
Thank you so much! Happy to have you around :)
@@FloralApronBlog just purchase the breville air fryer pro after watching your review :) thanks for telling us the good n the bad things about it. Looking forward to getting it today
One week with this combo oven, and so far I love it. Air fried, baked, warmed and broiled so far, everything came out great. I’m excited to try the proof for dough this weekend. I can see this will be my primary oven. July 2024.
So glad to hear that!
Thank you....like others I made every mistake .....instructions are terrible!!!!Without your video I would never have figured it out!!!!
So glad I could help!
William Sonoma has a set of 3 of the air fryer baskets for $44.95 so you can use all 4 racks and turn your Breville into a legit dehydrator.
Ooh, thanks for sharing! I listed that same set in my Amazon Storefront, but it looks like they are actually cheaper at Williams Sonoma right now. And they have free shipping!
I've had one for three years now and love it. Since it's just me or a friend or two, I never use my large, deluxe oven except for family holiday stuff. You opened my eyes to other functions and intend to use the air fryer function with a pan underneath the air pan. I wasn't aware of the slow cooker and will try that too. Nice job.
So glad to hear that; thanks for sharing!
This looks amazing!😋
Thank you!
Sorry didn’t see that😢❤
Lol it's fine, no one ever does 😅
Looks good on a side note them chips got that crunch
Thank you! And yes, Stacy's knows how to make their pita chips super crunchy 🤌🏻
Do you have any measurements or do we just guess?❤😅
Recipe is on my website and linked in the description: floralapron.com/aunt-debs-special-k-bars/ :)
That looks yummy! I do love me some hummus.❤
Thank you! 💛
Can you use this as pasta sauce?
I think the flavor and texture works best with pizza, where the sauce isn't the star of the dish, but it wouldn't be bad with pasta. I think pasta sauce usually has pieces of real tomato, which you won't get from tomato paste, but this recipe would certainly work in a pinch. You are more than welcome to try it!
Have been mulling the idea of purchasing a food processor for some time now and have zeroed in on the custom 14. America's test Kitchen did a product testing of many food processors and their most highly recommended was the custom 14. They use it virtually every time when making dough of any kind and this is what we're interested in doing too. Have you tried using your processor to make dough for bread, pies, pizza, etc etc ? If so, what do you think ?
I just started testing dough in it last week, and my shortcrust pastry came out great! I haven't tested it for pizza or bread dough yet, but that is on my list of things to try in the next couple weeks before I film my full review. I have a hard time imagining the blade forms gluten better/the same as a dough hook in a stand mixer, but I still want to test it because I trust ATK!
The part at the bottom is that cleanable? The two silver ones
The heating elements themselves are not (any residue burns off in a couple cycles anyway). The metal guards are cleanable, but they're tricky to really scrub without hitting the quartz elements. And the only way to really get the residue off those is by scrubbing (of course lol), so I just leave it for the most part. It tends to burn off after a few bakes, but it takes longer than the quartz heating elements themselves. Those metal pieces only get dirty if oil drips down onto them (in my experience, at least), so I try to keep the roasting pan in between them and the air fry basket when I use it, and that has helped somewhat. The manual says not to use soap on the elements but does not specify if that also applies to the metal protectors.
@@FloralApronBlog ok thanks so much love for responding 🥰
Love your videos and watching you grow on this platform🥹🧡
Thank you, Lyric-you're so sweet 💛
Measurements?

I have watched many video's on candied lemons and oranges and tried a few and must say with the long cooking nearly an hour the middle of my lemons disintegrated and I was very disappointed. I'm definitely going to try your method. Another lady left her sliced lemons in water in the fridge overnight, and then blanched them the next day and then in the sugar syrup. I am also wondering if you can use the same syrup for your next batch
Oh, very interesting! I'm not sure exactly what leaving the slices in the water overnight does, short of giving you infused citrus water. I suppose it could remove some of the bitterness, but I think you would still need to blanch them to remove all of it... I could be wrong, though! If you make another batch within 1-2 weeks, I think you'd be able to reuse the syrup (if you stored it in the fridge between uses)! If you try either one of those, I'd love to know how they work for you! Thanks for watching 💛
Yes, you still have to blach them the next day. I will first try your method
I mean, you haven't exactly tried to send them to me. LOL. They look delicious. I wish this new momma had the energy to make them. 😊
I hope you are able to try them sometime in the future! Congratulations on your new addition 💛
How much sugar?
Full recipe is on my website, along with the nutrition facts :) floralapron.com/small-batch-cherry-jam/
I've seen a lot of these reviews but I've never heard anyone mention about condensation before, but there's different brands of course.
Interesting! Another commentor said they also don't have any condensation, so it could be a regional issue, or perhaps the Breville just has a better seal to keep heat and moisture in.
@@FloralApronBlog Yes perhaps so.
What are the exact measurements?
Full recipe is on my website at floralapron.com/small-batch-pomegranate-jelly :)
Yum!
Gorgeous!
I’ve actually never thought of oatmeal cookies *without* raisins. This is eye opening and now I have to make them for some of my friends
Oh, that's too funny! I hope this converts you ;)
These look delicious! I love oatmeal cookies but people always go for the raisins and im not a fan of them.
Thank you! I've never understood the oatmeal + raisin pairing either lol
What a great video ……. Comment worthy……. Thank you very much …..
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
can you store the racks and pans that come with the oven in your oven while you're using it?
I always keep the two racks in there; that's fine. I wouldn't recommend also keeping the roasting pan with its rack, the pizza pan, *and* the air fry basket in the oven while baking, as that won't leave you much room inside, and I'd assume having all that in there would change the airflow considerably. Personally, I tend to keep the roasting pan in the oven on the upper rack, then place it on the top of the oven if I want to use a different pan (or just make toast/bagels on the upper rack). Then, I keep the smaller rack for the roasting pan, the pizza pan, and the air fry basket in the cabinet below my Breville.
You convinced me and I did order it from your link, I hope it helps. My beloved old Kitchen Aid finally pooped out after 15 years, so I'm excited about upgrading.
Thank you so much; I really appreciate it! I hope your Breville serves you well :)
The caveats are things I can live with. After considering the Cosori, and the Ninja 10 in 1 XL, this is the one I want. The Ninja doesn't have the proof option, the Cosori might be a nice unit but since the Breville has the 3 year warranty, it seems to be worth it. Thanks for the great info.
You're welcome! I am glad this video helped you make your decision :)
Thank you! We’re dipping part of ours in dark chocolate based on something I tried passing through the Vegas airport a while back. Incredible!
Yum, I've been meaning to do that myself! Hope you enjoy :)
@@FloralApronBlog The place is called Ethel M Chocolates. They have truly unique and beautiful chocolates, etc.
I don't think that was the cherry pie he was hoping for lol😂 but looks good
omg i wanna make that now
Do it, do it, do it! ;)
Gotta use sour cherries when you can. Sweet cherries kinda lack flavor.
Ya know, I haven't seen any fresh sour cherries in my area, so it's fortunate I really love sweet cherries! I picked 20 lbs of Bing and Rainier sweet cherries from a local orchard a few weeks ago, and trust me, these have TONS of flavor :)
Do you have the recipe written out?
Absolutely! Full recipe with tips and tricks is on my website at The Floral Apron: floralapron.com/cherry-pie-with-almond-extract/ You can also Google "floral apron cherry pie" and it'll pop right up for ya :)
Looks amazing! You don't need to blindbake the crust? :0
Nope, thickening the liquid over the stove before baking is the key to prevent a soggy bottom! :)
@@FloralApronBlog thanks for the tip! :)
good luck with your channel!
Thank you so much!
Damn good looking pie
Thank you!!
What a beautiful f-ing pie, my goodness
Thank you haha!
This looks amazing - nicely done!
Thank you so much!
This is lovely but I feel like calling it homemade is a bit of a stretch. 😂
"Homemade" doesn't always mean complicated ;)
Excellent looking. Thanks for the idea.
Thank you so much!
yum
Thank you!
❤❤❤thank you
You're welcome! I hope you get the chance to make these sometime 💛
Too lazy to make PIE DOUGH?! But you feel like posting the 'recipe' anyway.
No lol, I used my homemade vanilla pie crust *and* my homemade cherry jam in this recipe. I have videos of me making both here on UA-cam :)
It is my pettest of peeves when people say only a "few ingredients" or "easy recipe" and then pull our pre-made pastry as if everyone has that around or can even find a gluten or dairy free version if needed. Making the pastry from scratch adds sooo much time and ingredients!
If you have access to a store that has the ingredients to make a pie crust from scratch, you probably have access to pre-made pie crusts, right? Or am i misunderstanding your outrage?
Pie crust is only two actual store-bought ingredients. You do not need anything moee than flour, a form of fat, and couple tsps of water. Anything else and you are making it difficult for no reason.
Hi! It's *really* hard to fit all the info I would like into a 40-second voiceover, so I'll try to share a little more info here for ya 💛 It's pretty common for "pie crust" to be an ingredient in recipes-just like puff pastry or phyllo dough is-because there are a wide variety of ways to use the pastry. A lot of people already have a favorite pie crust recipe, too-especially if they have specific dietary restrictions, like you mentioned!-so it makes it easier for everyone if chilled "pie crust" is treated as ingredient, rather than listing the additional ingredients and steps to make it in *every* recipe that uses it. (And that also saves you time, because you don't have to scroll past it to try to get to more relevant info!) In the case you don't already have a pie crust recipe you love, I always link to a trusted pie crust recipe in the recipe card-it just happens to be my own. And like these pastries, my pie crust made with only four ingredients: Flour, butter, vanilla extract, and water. It took me about 15 mins to put the dough together the night before, and while it did take some advance planning to allow it to chill in the fridge overnight, that was inactive time on my part. But in case making your own pie crust doesn't work for you: One of the sentences that got cut for time was the clarification that you can use *ANY* pie crust dough you like here (store bought, homemade, gluten-free, etc), or even store bought puff pastry, which is often vegan! That info is right at the top of the blog post and in the recipe card itself, so people who watch this video and click through to my website to see the recipe would see that before they even started on the recipe :) I share recipes my friends and family have loved, in the hopes that these videos reach others who will also love them. I tend to make more complicated recipes like macarons (those are made from a base of four ingredients as well, but they're notoriously difficult to master and require a lot of technical skill). In comparison to macs, these homemade pastries are very beginner-friendly, and, funnily enough, something one of my followers elsewhere said they were really excited about because they were easy! My goal is to offer recipes for everyone, and perhaps this recipe in particular isn't the one for you-that's okay! Maybe there'll be one some day, or maybe not. That's okay, too :) I hope this clears up why I worded things the way I did and that you enjoy the rest of your day!
You’re supposed to blanch them twice and you should dip them immediately at the last time when they come out from the simple syrup sugar
You're welcome to make them your way! I have had great success with this recipe as I've shared it, as have many others here in the comments :)
Beautiful
Thank you!
