Just A Shave: Wolfman WR1 SB .46 - Wizamet Iridium (2) - BaM Omnbs Pencil Pushers - Semogue Cerda
Trying Pencil Pushers from BaM for the first time. Also trying my new-to-me Cerda from 2014-ish.
Razor: Wolfman - WR1 Solid Bar .46
Blade: Wizamet - Iridium Super Extra Stainless (2)
Lather: Barrister and Mann Omnibus - Pencil Pushers
Brush: Semogue - Barbear Classico Cerda 22mm (1 uses)
Post: Stirling - Witch Hazel Aloe - Bergamot Lavender
*Razor and Blade Notes* - Wolfman - WR1 Solid Bar .46 ::: Wizamet - Iridium (2 uses):
Very nice combo was this mild head with the Wiz blade. Just a little blade feel, but still very efficient.
Razor and Blade Performance/Comfort Rating: 4 out of 5 (Very Good)
*Soap Notes* - Barrister and Mann Omnibus - Pencil Pushers:
Them: Many people remember their early school years in terms of smell. Scented markers, old books, lunch-room milk, it all combines into a distinctive scent memory, the kind of thing that transports you back to being a kid almost instantly. But, more than anything else, people remember the smell of pencils. ~~ Grade school pencils have a distinct aroma, a kind of pulpy, mineral cedar, accented by the roasted character imparted by the grinding of wall-mounted, hand-cranked pencil sharpeners. The sappy, woody tang of tens of thousands of cheap, mass-produced pencils is one of our fondest, most distinctive memories of childhood. That's the smell of Pencil Pushers. That's the smell of home.
Me: a great cedar that leans a little toward sweetness, probably due to the amber. I can put my mind in school mode and this does help to go back to the good old days. Or I can let my mind float to a great log cabin vacation and that works just as well.
I think the amber serves to add a little sweetness to the cedar, which I really like. It almost looses itself in that process, which I'm fine with too. Maybe I can detect some graphite if I really think about it.
Scent Strength: 7/10, very present during shaving.
Lather: 80 or 90 swirls in the new BaM tub to try this soap for the first time. Added maybe 3 tsp of water to it and lather was excellent.
Hydration: Dry End of Perfect (for me)
* = 5 passes of lather
Bowl: Roger Quintero 3D Printed Bowl
I use the XL version of this bowl.
www.thingiverse.com/thing:3392930
*Brush Notes* - Semogue - Barbear Classico Cerda 22mm (1 uses):
Definitely a similar feel to my memory of my 830. Feeling sparse right now, but looking forward to more split tips. Held the great Omnibus lather really well.
**Shave Quality**
During the Shave Feel:
Cheeks: Felt blade but comfortable
Neck: Felt blade but comfortable
After the Shave Closeness:
Cheeks: Near BBS - About as close as I'll ever get
Neck: Near BBS - About as close as I'll ever get

Wetshaving is the age-old shaving method where you create a lather from a soap or cream, usually with a brush. And these days, we also usually mean using a safety razor (aka double edge or DE) or single edge or straight razor to remove the hair. We often enjoy less irritated skin, healthier skin, more enjoyable shaves, and often closer shaves than those who use a multi-bladed cartridge and canned shaving foam.

Time to try the Captain's Choice base with the Slurry Lather method. It worked very well. Thanks Ronnie for the sample! This video is cut off, but that's on purpose. Thanks for the review I am wondering about that particular gap. Its a .48 i think...
this razor reminds me of julius caesar
I've found that Bush Malt by Murphy and Mcneil to be exceptional. A very healing soap for my skin. The Slainte base is just as good as the Kodiak. They're toe to toe with all of the other soaps I've tried thus far.. Great shave, and always great to tune in to your channel.
If you want to fix and improve this then take the handle and baseplate, replace the top cap with a Brass Blackland Blackbird cap and feel how awesome and straight/level it is and becomes as comfortable/neutral as a 6S or feels like a GC68/GC84.
@@ajgYT09 I don't have a blackbird anymore because it was way too aggressive for me. So I'm afraid I can't try this combination out. But thank you!
Thank you for the in-depth lather bowl video. I’ve wasted some money on what I thought I needed. Still looking, but being more carful now. Wish I had seen this video a while back.
@@Daniel_wetshaving_now glad to help! And thank you
How do you get over 300 shaves on one blade? That’s amazing, I’m new to wet shaving and safety razors. Do only certain brands have that kind of longevity to their blades?
Soft spoken, honest and true gentleman you are. Sure, I'll subscribe.
Nice shave, I recently picked up Dscosmetic ax-se - Wolfman clones. The razor comes with three plates with a choice of handle between copper, ss and brass. The razor is so good that I actually have Wolfman in my wish list.

Looking great sugar daddy!
Glad you're back
Nice to see you back😊
So, I just got back into traditional wet shaving. I have owned a boar brush in the past, and a synthetic. I did a lot of research and pulled the trigger on a Semogue C3 Galahad horse hair brush. I can’t wait to try it out, and your video gives me confidence in my purchase, and taught me how to clean it when it arrives. There is Not to much information on horse hair brushes out there; I appreciate your video! 🙏🏻
@@justinfoley3325 glad to help. I don't know if the Semogue horse is it going to be as soft as the one in my video, but I've been very curious about it for a while. Please feel free to report back on it!
I just purchased a glycerine soap from jewel osco let’s see how it goes. I Noticed that glycerin, soaps, dedicated to shaving are more expensive.
When bowl lathering using 1/4 tsp of soap scooped from the tub…How many milliliters of water should I add for properly hydrated lather?
It mainly depends on how much water you start with in your brush. I would say that mine are "lightly wet" which means more wet than "damp", but not having a lot of water in it. In that case, 15-22 ml was usually the amount that ended up to be a good lather for me. I suggest adding 10 ml, and then give it a good mix, and then add more at about 5 ml at a time until you get it right. It also depends on the soap base. Most will work fine with this. But a few are exceptions and may require more than 1/4 tsp soap.
@@sgrdddyshaves Thank You! As you mentioned, adding 10 ml, while slowly incorporating 5 ml of water at a time will be a good rule of thumb. How much water did you add for Stirling and Barrister and Mann soaps with a lightly wet brush? Just Purchased Glastonbury, Varen, Port-au-Prince, Coniferous and Hipster from Stirling…Are these from the “Mutton” or Sheep soap base?
BaM is about right where I said. Stirling to me is a little more friendly actually, where I don't need a full 1/4 tsp to make plenty of lather. I think most cases where I used more than 20 ml of water, I was ending up with 6 or more passes of lather. So maybe around 15-17 ml is around perfect if you're shooting for 4 passes of lather in your bowl. Now if you scoop or load enough soap for 6 passes of lather, then you need to get the water right to match it, even if it is more than you might want. Otherwise your lather won't be as slick as it could be. Glas, Var, and port are all their mutton base, but the others are beef tallow. I'm glad you ordered some. I know the prices of mutton tallow are rising, and it may be hard for them to keep on with that line. Oh, and also if you're using a boar, make sure to soak it at least 4 minutes to make sure the bristles have absorbed all the water they will. Otherwise they will steal water from your lather and throw off your ratio.
I wanna try this with some aqua velva or maybe clubman pinaud. Thanks for the video man.
Thanks for the shave :)
How are you enjoying your Osprey?
@@no1up while I think it's a quality item, it just turned out not to be a great matchup for me. One of the big factors was the way the handle felt when I was holding it. The fluting and slots are very beautiful but they don't really to me feel like I have a good safe grip on the razor. Especially when wet or soapy. And then the fact that more of the weight is at the head of the razor just makes that feeling worse. I do have a Blackland playlist on my channel, so check that out for details. Especially the last couple of shaves that you can see there with the osprey.
Nice one, Feather's are not one of my goto blades and feel a bit rough on the first shave for me even now, so I tend to cork them.👌🤠👌
Glad to see someone other than I, indicate that some handles are suckie 🤫
Hello guy That’s an interesting razor it kinda makes me think of the pls602 Plastic idea
It would be amazing if you got a zillion shaves from a Feather like you do with the Nacets 🪒
@@pfritts3111 it would! I have a feather with almost 70 uses or something and my feeling is that I don't think it's going to go that far.
Nice! Thanks for the shave
Nice shave, good to have you back. Have you used the old school by moon soaps?
Thank you! I have tried that one. Can't remember if I have a full tub, but I know I tried a smush (what we call a sample that someone sends you in the mail) of it. I think some of the scent strength was lost, as I wasn't able to smell too much of it when I used it. However, I like the list of scent notes. Performance was pretty good.
@@sgrdddyshavesI recently picked up a full tub from someone and found it the tallow based to be excellent and frankly quite different. Picked up a few more soaps too actually. To my nose, old school smelt of leather, scales, mahogany and the obvious tobacco with just a hint of sweetness from the second pass. Quite a good one in my opinion.
Very nice 👍🏼
I've had this razor for almost 3 months now and have to admit it took a few shaves to get used to the angle but I really like it. Not a fan of the feather blade find it's too aggressive on my fair skin and light hair colour. I prefere Parker, Wilkinson sword Germany, or Rockwell Blades the Best. For all my razors. Nice review as well. Take care
SPICE CONTAINTER -- Excellent!
You okay sugar daddy? Haven’t seen u in a couple weeks
@@robertlam6109 thanks for asking but I'm doing just fine. Just really busy. But my stubble is getting way too long, and so I need to do another shave soon!
I just get a small knife, cut the sample soap into quarters and then just get a quarter of it out when I want to use it.
That works great when the sample container is smaller, but the maggards style samples contain more shaves than just four, so that would be too much soap per shave for me.
Hello, do you soak your soap before use, or only soak the brush and load with dry soap?
@@MartinValov I never soak my soap. Many artisan makers say it is bad for the soap. And I find it unnecessary anyway. Occasionally with a true hard soap puck, it might be Okay. But even then, I almost always find it is unnecessary.
Great video but stop smacking your mouth thats so distracting man please!
one of my favourite and recommended blades. classy shave, best wishes
Why do you have to shave so many times? Looked nice after the first.
10 minutes of lathering i'd be too tired to shaved by that time lol. Great video
Well Done. That’s a wrap!
Nice review with the different gear. Confirms my stance - horsehair not for me.
Great to see some different gear haha cheers my friend
Nice to see a shave with some different gear post August.
Never got to try the Latha line of soaps but it looks pretty good. All the B&M bases I've tried have been awesome. I tried a 50/50 horse brush and did not enjoy it much at all, a bit too scratchy and maintenance (tangles), I'll stick to Synthetic, Boar & Badger.👌🤠👌
Thnx Sgg.

Last AA shave for 2024, well done sqrdddy, I would find it very hard to shave every day for a month, I tried a 12-day one and still had to miss one shave.👌🤠👌

I've loving all the vids you have ben putting out, and I can't believe how far that Nacet has come.
@@HAKIMEOVER9000 thanks man!
@@HAKIMEOVER9000 I definitely see less views during a time like this, with monotonous products. But I really just do it for me anyway, so I've never had views as too much of a priority. But it is still good when a few others appreciate it and gain something from it.
Only 1 more day! Cheers my friend
