Which Persimmon Taste Best
In this video I taste test three persimmons I grew Fuyu, Nikita’s Gift, and Saijo. The fuyu persimmons is non astringent asian variety this type can be eaten hard like an apple and is very popular. Nikita’s Gift is an astringent hybrid cross between an american and an asian. Saijo is an asian variety and is also astringent. All three taste different and all three are very enjoyable. But the nikita’s gift was my favorite. @UncleClaysOrchard zone 7a southeastern Pennsylvania. #orchardlife #fruittree #gardening #orchard #garden #fruits #tastetest #fruit #persimmon

maybe belle of Georgia peach?
I live in the equivalent of zone 10a ...we don't really get air frost, occasional ground frost in January only.
I have a saijo and I love it. My first introduction to persimmon was the hachiya, now I have hachiya, giombo, saijo, fuyu and jiro. I have not tasted the Giombo or jiro since they are very young trees and not fruited. The giombo tried but I picked the flowers. I love watching your videos.
Love from India 🙏
I pick my peaches when they look ripe, but still hard so that the birds don't get them. Fortunately, I don't have squirrels in my neighborhood. For early July peaches, I would recommend Mid Pride and Red Baron. Red Baron has beautiful blooms.
Sounds good thanks, you should try and leave a couple covered in bird net. The peaches get so much better the last couple days on the tree
Nope lol 😂
Does it hurt the tree
nope, have to set it up for success
Great tip !! 👍 Appreciate than one !!
It was a bit of torture when having to eat one of these big buggers in my school lunchbox.
A very good life lesson!!!
I literally thought he started rapping at first
One thing that folks growing fruit trees (especially stone fruit and apples) need to know is that buds->flowers->fruit do NOT occur on all branches. So if you cut back too far, you'll get no fruit at all. You must leave branches with buds on them to get any fruit the following year. Just hap-hazzardly cutting off "gnarly" branches might result in a poor harvest. Read up on how to properly prune, not just cut randomly.
very important point
I dont even grow peaches but nice video 😂💪💪
I wonder if I should prune my mulberry tree?
mulberries usually are pretty messy, but yes prune it but you don’t need to go crazy
I will after seeing this video
@@UncleClaysOrchard Thank you sir. I posed the question, but didn't expect an answer! I love climbing the tree and eating mulberries before the tree rats get 'em!
@3secvids574 man, i checked our your channel. You do some funny 💩! ❤ it
LOL :)
What’s the best tasting peach variety you’ve ever had?
i flip flop and everyone has different taste buds but i do enjoy a red haven which is a yellow flesh, but then ill eat a white lady which is white flesh and change my mind
@ have you ever tried the Indian free peach?
@spencerlincoln2428 no but that sounds good!
You have to try the toka plum and the greengage plum they are outstanding, better than any candy you’ll ever try
👍👍👍
my man
They need frost. Harvest them after the first freezing days or put them in the freezer over night. Then they're incredibly good!! ❤
ok thanks for the advice!’
Where can you buy dwarf trees like this that are that big?
this is a unique nursery near my house called PrimeX
@UncleClaysOrchard where I live it's hard to find trees like this, online they sell them so small
What zone are you in ?? I’m in Texas I recently put a guayaba tree 4-5 foot great improvement. And a brown turkey fig not doing great since I’ve replanted 2x I’d like to put a peach tree next season nice trees by the way. God bless you
i’m in zone 7a
Yo tengo 3 persimon Fuyu. Y Compré semillas Lotus persimon para tener rootstock. Nunca yo conseguí enraizar esqueje de Fuyu persimon. Es realmente difícil.
ok thanks for your input
How do you like that light stand? I’m trying to find a good one for some of my indoor plants.
i like all the tall ones that are height adjustable and then you can move the lights wherever you want like bending a wire
I appreciate the honest review
always honest
thanks for watching
Well you tried
always next year
👍👍👍
"EW"🤢🤮
What kind of mulch do you like to use on your fruit trees? Last year I got a huge load of arborist wood mulch from the power line trimming crews. That’s what I use. The mulch in this video looks much darker and maybe more rich in nutrients?
double or triple ground organic mulch. It has a lot of old grass clippings in it from our lawn company … look for dense mulch with finer pieces of material
I love your videos. Love gardening.
Thank you so much!
how about removing roots at the top so the root flare is exposed?
i don’t think you need to remove roots to expose the root flare you need to remove dirt to expose the root flare
That’s awesome. How old is your tree that it’s producing like that? Just started growing citrus this year (I’m on the edge of 6b and 7a so my 4 trees are indoors right now). Guess I’m going to have to add this one to my list haha
i have only had it for 12 months so very young
good luck with your other citrus
They look like dinosaur eggs
Awesome! Next year, I should get some Satsuma Mandarins.
👍👍👍
my man
Winter ❄️ is here we need a video on indoor lights for plants
good idea!
Yes! I'd love to see what he does for the winter.
What do these taste like? I’ve never had one
texture like a lemon and it starts sour like a lemon but then you get sweetness. I enjoy them. But the sour and sweet are not mixed they differently hit you seperstly in your mouth
@ interesting. I might have to try it that sounds good
❤❤❤
any update I'm curious to how they came out after being done early.
some jars taste normal and some lack the peach flavor completly
I have a chocolate persimmon but hasn't fruit yet. I assumed it was astringent 😅
I had one two weeks ago that i thought was better then a normal fuyu
Be careful of the blue die. It stains everything!
Chocolates need to be pollinated i believe. I will double check that
I'm gonna guess it was astringent
very it was inedible
Awesome. Man i had a great summer. Planted all my trees last year & this year and i was already loaded. I was thinking "ahh it might take 2 or 3 years" but nope. I had lots of peached and apples. "Yellow Delicious" was my favorite this year. Biggest apple ive ever seen. Looked juiced up lol.
nice work, yellow delicious is top notch
Broo thats looks so good😮
It was so astringent i couldn’t eat it. Next year i need to wait much longer to pick
I plant most of my trees this way regardless. Seems like Peaches and Plum trees love the raised bed. ChestNuts are also growing great. They hate wet feet
good to know! thanks
Greetings. Are you combining Copper with Dormant oil?
no i spray them separate in the spring, no oil now
👍👍👍 aww crap I need to do that
I got some advice - eat them!!!
Are those leaves okay ?
no it hasn’t rained in 8 weeks
Thanks for sharing ... Mousey from Buffalo NY 💜💚🎉
Thanks for watching!
Completely unrelated to the trees, but what kind of siding is that on your house?
hardy board … board and batten
Wow, looks like a tree from the Coraline garden, super magical looking!
