My childhood summers were spent climbing such normal size fruit trees at my grandmothers farm in Latvia (Northern Europe). Sweet memories. I remember how we were impatient to wait for apples to ripen, and ate them green (and then had some serious tummy aches). But excluding that - it was great all body workout and belly full of tasty fruit :) Great video as allways!
Those were late 80-ies and early 90-ies - Collapse of USSR and freshly regained freedom for my Country. Times of change between communism and consumer capitalism. People living in country farms produced food for themselves and their relatives in cities. So there where lot of stuff there in terms of flora and fauna. Horses, cattle, pigs, sheep, chicken, ducks, rabbits. And basically all kind of garden fruits and berries, and veggies that grow in our Northern semisphere. In summer and autumn we went berry picking to the swamp and forest (wild blueberries, wild raspberries, cranberries, lingonberries) to make jams form winter. Jeesh... those were a totaly different times back then. Now I feel old :D
when you show the tree that was replanted in the park instead of the one that has died, did you notice if they used full size trees for that, or did they start to plant smaller trees?
