1976 Australian Simpson 107 Automatic
Full video of the 1976 Australian Simpson 107. Top of the line for this series with heater, indicator lights and the 'Pump N Pause' feature in the final spin dry.
Specifications: Agitation: 65 OPM 180 degree Arc
Spin Speed: 625 Rpm.
And yes, I noticed there's some tub movement during wash. The brake assembly will need replacing at some stage.
Lid has been removed so indicator lights can be seen during the cycle and may want to skip ahead to about 3.22 as it pauses for 2 minutes after filling.

Australian made Hoover 800EL BOSS washing machine
Переглядів 1,2 тис.6 місяців тому
This Australian made Hoover washer has what is called BOSS (Balanced Orbit Suspension System). The idea being the motor is counter balanced with weights and is suspended on shock absorbers rather than springs. By this time Hoover had dispensed with the metal gearbox and instead a split phase motor attached to a planetary gear set achieves the agitation. Spin speed by this time was 700 rpm. This...
1979 Australian Malleys Whirlpool fully electronic model 2299
Переглядів 2 тис.Рік тому
This is one of my favourite machines in my collection. An Australian built Malleys Whirlpool fully electronic 2299. The same model that Dame Edna Everidge advertised on Australian TV. This machine came from a deceased estate and works perfectly. My only ever complaint is the average spin speed.
1997 Maytag LAT 9824 with the Pitman drive transmission installed.

A recent project completed. This Australian version has had the Orbital transmission swapped for the long stroke Pitman drive. Oz versions have electric drain pumps for a neutral drain. I fixed the sound of the water fill tube hitting the cabinet.

This is recently completed project. I turned my A806 privately imported from the USA into a Australian version working on 240v 50hz. It also has a stainless steel bowl from an Australian Wilkins Servis and the 50hz export pulley set up from another Oz Maytag parts donor.
1978 Wilkins Servis 502 washing machine....now in Avocado Green
Переглядів 3 тис.Рік тому
My Wilkins Servis 502 has been given a face lift and is now in Avocado Green. My previous WS in Avocado Green needed a complete teardown so will be rebuilt at a later date. So, the cabinet was put onto this 502. If you're wondering, the knocking noise in spin was the hose clamp I used on the fill flume hitting the underside of the top, now all fixed.

This is a 1978 Wilkins Servis automatic non heat model 502. Based on a US Maytag design except it has a stainless steel inner tub and plastic outer tub. Recently replaced the pump so now it runs much quieter.

1986 Australian Simpson Electronic 268
Переглядів 6 тис.Рік тому
This is a recently refurbished 1986 Australian Simpson Model 268. It has new gearbox, bearings, seals, pulley, pump motor and belt. For those interested, it agitates at 58 oscillations per minute through a 170 degree washing arc and spins at 550 rpm. And yes, before anyone comments the 'knocking' in spin was the fill flume that has dropped out of its socket (and now fixed) and am aware of the s...
1967 Stampco Fully automatic Fluid Drive washing machine
Переглядів 5 тис.2 роки тому
Full cycle of a recent acquisition: a 1967 Stampco Fluid Drive automatic washing machine. Quite unique in that they were only ever made and sold in Victoria Australia. It was part of an estate sale and had still been sitting in the laundry not used for many years. Apart from a couple of issues (leaking hoses and new water valve), the machine runs well. It is similar to a US Maytag AMP in that i...
KitchenAid fully programmed washing machine from the USA

This is a fully programmed KitchenAid washing machine I imported from the USA to Australia back in 2016. This works through a frequency converter to.ensure both the voltage and frequency are converted, unlike a step down transformer where just the voltage is converted. You may hear the hum of the converter in the background.

Full video (apart from the initial fill) of my Australian made Hoover Elite 920. Bought from a seller clearing out a holiday home on the Sunshine coast so not much used. Specs: 99 OSC and 540 RPM spin speed. Stainless steel bowl and neutral drain electric pump. The next 940/950 series were the last with a proper cast iron gearbox.

wow what a Cool looking Hoover that is with the Controls
I love the sameness but differences in Whirlpool washers in Australia and the U.S. They all have that lovely woo woo woo !
Agreed!
Nice machine
Where did the turquoise agitator go? There’s supposed to be a standard whirlpool dual action turquoise in this machine.
@@Goldenwoodz it never came with it. That's how it was when I bought it
@@mayfan69 that sucks! Someone must of replaced it before you received it. This model was supposed to come with a turquoise straight vane just like the white one in it or a regular dual action in turquoise. The use of which agitator in these early machines are quite confusing.
My Aunt had one it lasted over 25 years.
How did these rate with the testing agencies ?
I think they rated pretty well, compared to similar machines of the era.
Replaced by cheap Asian rubbish that doesn't last long as Aussie ones.
Didn't knew that these came with electronic controls.
@@KingHarlequin1999 They certainly did, both here in Australia and in the USA
A proper clockwise spin.
My machine is the same as yours it needed the lid replaced this year as was rusted luckily still under warranty. It’s now 4 years old technician said quite a common issue with certain batches of machines.
Hi mate, considering buying a used one of the same model. Owner said it’s 5 yrs old, $1k aud, you think it’s worth it? Ps yours still running?
Hi there. Yes, mines still running perfectly. I think you could probably do better than that price, especially for a 5 year old machine. If you can get them under that price, it would definitely be worth it.
I’m glad you still make videos
Thanks. I'll continue to make more
I always loved those turquoise Maytag agitators, that you had to pull the part that held the fabric softener cup up to clean the built in lint screen that went all of the way around.
I'm surprised this is a franklin! I was almost certain this used maytag internals
Such a wonderful, smooth wash motion! They don't make them like that anymore for sure. Truly an American classic! Thank you for sharing! 😊
I think I heard Nicki Minaj.
Nice!
Blue color is my favorite
Mine too!
The washer itself is not bad but, I wouldn't like all that starting and stopping in the final spin...
Well, this is the only series they had the Pump N Pause feature, it was never introduced again.
The agitator jiggles a little too. Who made the mechanism for that washer?
Simpson here in Australia, adapted from a gearbox design from Franklin in the USA.
Thankyou for sharing a video of this event. Special memories of when I had my miniature ornament pianos in this exhibition. Fascinating to see your washing machines and laundry memorabilia. Love the idea about a combination laundromat and coffee shop :)
What year is this Hoover?
Around 2001
When did you purchase this machine
I purchased this machine in January 2024
So cool I finally got to see that washer again but would you have this ua-cam.com/video/uWy3QAc2wWc/v-deo.htmlsi=OSCsKiotbNCD_X7Y and Hoover elite 970 ua-cam.com/video/XFgfIc5eLek/v-deo.htmlsi=elZuHdHNZImu-uR_ and also I saw your Maytag Atlantis on the right
I don't have a Hoover 960 or 970, the 960 was the first Hoover with that mechanism after they got rid of the metal gearbox. The other Hoover you showed is actually based on Simpson mechanicals after Hoover Australia was bought out by Email (the owners of Simpson at the time)
@@mayfan69 gotcha and by the way are you still able to upload the Maytag A9900 Electronic with orbital transmission and the Load Sensor Agitator
fills up and looks like the controls of a fisher and paykel smart drive
Nice
Amazing finding brand new washers after so long
This is my favourite washer ever love the spray rince ❤
Was this one of the first washers to top up in the rince
Do you mean 'overflow'?
Does it come with fabric softener dispenser cup that can be attached to that agitator
Yes it does, it's a seperate attachment
@@mayfan69 can you put it on
If I can find it I will
How about another video with thor trimatic washer?
At some stage when I get a chance, got a few other things on the go at the moment. Cheers
I love the long stroke agitation. I really wish these could spin at ~1000rpm. You've got amazing skills!
I wouldn't mind using this at all
Will you ever make another video of your collection? I loved the old video you made on it, but it doesn't seem to be on your channel anymore... <3
Yes, when I get a chance. Deleted the old video as the collection has changed a little bit and moved to a more permanent location.
Do you still have the 1969 hoover toploader washer
Yes, I have three Hoover top loaders from 1969 / 70: 520, 565 and 585.
Nice job swapping the pitman transmission. How does the machine neutral drain without spinning?
It's a seperate electric drain pump that always work during the drain / spin phase
Fantastic!
Compare that REAL WASHER to the modern-day plastic JUNK (washers) that appliance manufacturers are calling washing machines now-days!
Very quiet for 1967.
You sure do a good job of keeping your machines in excellent condition.
Did Malley's Whirlpool also make matching dryers?
Not side by side dryers no, only quite small dryers.
A Super Pop long before The Laundry Alternative .
Well why can't todays washers do that?
ALL PATENTED BY USA GE FILTER FLOW MODEL WASHERS SINCE 1957. 💧 GREAT VIDEO. 🌀 ✌️🇺🇸
Actually based on a US BLACKSTONE design, not GE. Very different type of gearbox actually than a GE
@@mayfan69 So your telling me that Blackstone designed GE American filter flow washers in the U.S. for over 40 yrs here .... Maybe in your country ... Blackstone in the US was completely different here in the states at the time they where in production. Where friends I know you from AW..lol
Ok the GEARBOX GOT CHA. STILL lol same agitation stroke and very quite . It's so fascinating to see this design lasts and the modifications . Like the U.K. versions with there heating at 140 f and 1100 hundred RPM's spin speed. Which I Love to own . It's like a super filter flow washer. Now if they only used the 6 point suspension it would be even more solid. 😁✋✌️🇺🇸
@@darrenk5023 yeah sorry Darren, only meant that the gearbox is different but definitely the agitation stroke is the same. The early Australian Hoover 500 and 600 series did have a recirculating lint filter, more like the Westinghouse's of the day.
Looks very sleek and sophisticated with the control fascia & touch controls - Just Like Dame Edn a!! , Great find Leon .
Thanks! It's certainly a favourite
Great sign next to this awesome Whirlpool. 🎉
I am from Australia and I still have a Maytag Atlantis 2004 top loader. Still working ok but the bearing is going on it, makes a roaring noise when spinning. Technicians don’t want to touch it.
Well naturally! They want you to buy an expensive plastic piece of junk appliance so it will quit with in less than a year so you'll have to spend more money on another trash machine.
Like a super fancy Maytag.
Something like that, take a Maytag A806 and add in extra rinse options, a suds save and the stainless steel bowl and that's pretty much what you have
Oh this is nice .
Maytag!
Well, made off the Maytag platform in Australia in the 1970s.
Compare that REAL Maytag washing machine to the plastic JUNK washers that are now manufactured!
