I love Butternut Burley. Great everyday smoke. As a note butternut is not butterscotch. Butternut is a type of tree also called white wall nut. The nuts can be processed to produce a tan buttery substance that can be used as a dye. No idea why the tobacco is called this.

I think Molto Dolce is the best aromatic.

Ive never like "English/Natural" blends. They were always "woody" or "heavy" to me. I recently tried Boswell "Apple Strudel" I like it. Also tried their "Chocolate Cream". Both pretty pleasant.

Hope in 9 years they fixed the moisture issue. But I order two tins when I buy. One now and one to put away for later.

I waited to watch this video, as I just cracked the tin today and smoked my first pipe of it. Really enjoyed it. Felt like it was my favorite. I love vanilla. So good. And inexpensive. Thank you gor your input

Does this pipe smoking stain walls as cigarettes do? Do people gripe bout 2nd hand smoke? Also do you like Mac Baren vanilla cream?

I smoked Half and Half when I started smoking a pipe, and then, Kentucky Club (white burley) I love that smell best of all the different Tobacco's that I have stuffed in a bowl. two others I used to smoke was Sir Walter Raleigh, Carter Hall. I am one of those people that when I walk into a soap/candle store that, gets an instant headache BOOM ! so I stayed away from Aromatics for the most part, Captain Black, Borkum Riff and others, I always thought that I had a bitter taste with any Cherry that I tried. Right now, I don't smoke but, hell I'll be 77 next month and may not have too much time to enjoy a few good bowls, to each his/her own!

Molto Dolce....my all time favorite! I have a dedicated pipe for it! I share the same enthusiasm as you when it comes to that tobacco!

Now that Frog Morton and McClellan are gone, and I liked it better than any blend in the world, esp. "On The Town", what comes closest as a "Match" in your opinion?

I’m exactly the same. But instead of aromatics I generally go for Burley and Latakia. I agree that London Mixture was the best Dunhill blend, so of course, they haven’t brought it back. Luckily Westminster is a very close match by Pease

I'll probably try the first 4. Just being honest. If I like them then I'll buy that last one.

Peterson isn’t Savenelli or even close - Peterson ships out crap - I was disappointed by the lack of quality detail in Peterson pipes

Peterson has terrible quality control issues. I will not be purchasing anything from Peterson again. I'd rather smoke a Dr. Grabow than a Peterson.

I really like the 904 shape. Always heard it referred to as a "Yachtsman". Very stylish, lightweight, and clenches well. Surprised it isn't more common.

Doug, I’m looking for a replacement for Planta’s Presbyterian Mixture. I’m not a fan of the Mac Baren remake. Can you suggest a substitute? I am missing the sweet, floral, and tangy flavors of the original.

Use a Dremel tool and shave the inside mouth of the stem about 0.1 mm to losen the fit , takes 5 minutes or so. Do it when the pipe is cool and dry, 3-5 hrs after a smoke.
