Clif notes 1. Westminster by GLPease classic latakia pricey 2. Squadron Leader by Samuel Gawith smokes cool good for first timer 3. 3 Oaks Syrian by Maclellan Harder to come by Flavourful, savory 4. HH Vintage Syrian by Mac Baren with Turkish Oriental 5. Frog Morton Series Across The Pond by McClelland
I got out my pen and TAD list. I added 3 oaks syrian and fm across the pond to try. The rest are smooth blends for sure. I'll tell ya I like blue mtn( or balkan blue) and mcclelland a.m. pipe (dunhill emp knockoff). Both are worthy to keep in cellar. I have heard syrian lat is tastier that cyprian. I havent quite that much experience with a lot of each but what little I know, I think you are right. Great to see you Doug! Thanks for the recommendations!
Yeah, you bring up a good question, (i'm new to pipes)and I also heard of english-aromatics. I lean more towards these tobacco's, but want to dedicate my first briar to english(only I guess) but I get confused about what an english is with certain labels.
What would you recommend as a more moderate to heavy Latakia blend to try. I like John Bull with the exception of the Cavendish in it, I like a local blend called baklen San Antonio which is supposed to be a latakia Oriental blend. I just keep finding my self wanting something stronger. What do you suggest ? Thank you.

Some interesting ones there. Some I have, some I dont. Perhaps I will add em to the list.
I've had a lot of Greg's blends, but I still haven't tried Westminster. I will have to give it a shot.

Really enjoyed your video and how you presented. Just sub'd and looking forward to lighting a bowl and watch your review on Orientals.
Nice video. Have you tried Presbyterian Mixture? Good stuff, not too much Latakia.

Try and find some Lancer's Slices. Its a Virginia/Latakia blend that I found to be moderately strong on the Latakia side.
Try Boswell's Northwoods (my favorite) and/or Countryside, GL Pease Gaslight! My top.
