Hi Phil - just found your channel - really informative which is great for me as I want to try and book 2 x business class seats using Avios and cash (as I only have 74000+ ?) with B.A. to Miami and back in Jan/Feb next year (2026) Never done this before and I`m a bit nervous about coc***g it up ! QUESTION : Although we normally fly out of LHR (a 2.5 hour car journey for us) do you think there might be more reward seats available out of Manchester and does the amount of Avios differ ? My wife and I are travelling BA first class in March so on our return flight would I be correct that having collected your baggage and you’re back into the main T5 check in area, instead of existing to the street you go upstairs to the Concorde Breakfast Room to enjoy a breakfast and shower etc. We’re getting in early morning so want to relax before heading off for the final leg of the journey home.

You've said it very well. BA has the wrong solution and are certainly not rewarding long term loyal customers. It's a complete face.

Looking at the price of transatlantic flights with Iberia in terms of avios in business, and Qatar airways in business class, BA's prices are already outrageously expensive. BA will either f*ck us up in terms of avios or charges and fees. Not surprised at all if they are gonna devaluate the avios very soon. Can't wait for a flight LHR-JFK to be 95k-100k instead of 80k avios in business class and I can see iberia following the trend, no more 34k avios for a transatlantic business class flight. Air France has already devaluated its flying blue miles and I can see more airlines leaning towards a revenue based program like BA's new executive club. Traveling is gonna become harder going forward

Say what you will about the announcement but the airline is right this is a positive development. Much in the same way a cancer diagnosis could be seen as a positive development!

Never needed them for my Emerald. Their product sucks anyway. In London i stay in any other lounge but the BA ones. So yeah... I will do it with Finnair or RJ or maybe even MAS.

BA's offering has been horrible for years now & certainly markedly so post Covid. I've pushed hard to retain my status as it's convenient for me as a weekly short haul business traveller & couple of times a year premium leisure traveller as it speeds me through the airport & lounge access to work is welcome. The changes mean that we'll likely move our leisure travel elsewhere and status match with say a Virgin Atlantic but i'm largely stuck with BA for short haul domestic given limited options available to me which is annoying but might see me retain silver.

Airasia travelled couple times really cheap . Better than Ryan air for sure. Few years ago when travelling to phuket from rayong bought my friends thai green curry and rice . Pre booked for 2 pounds just for a joke . Seat selection about 3 pounds

I think BA watched your and others videos about how to get Gold for 3K pounds and decided to stop you guys) I am BA Silver and have been for many years. I think i will struggle maintaining it with a new scheme.

The signage at HIA really is terrible. I recently outlined this to staff there too. I was looking for a lounge but the signage with the arrow was at a bit of an angle and therefore I thought I needed to turn right when in reality I needed to go straight on. I showed this to customer service staff and they agreed it could be modified.

this is a very helpful video. but i wonder if the immigration skip is only applicable to foreign individuals coming from select countries or cetain nationalities. Immigration can be quite tough for other countries especially coming from third-world.

Well they lost me. My budget is probably there still but with their service dropping off a cliff, the website routinely breaking and making booking errors. Top that off with customer service both being somehow linked to a fraud call and also being utterly useless since COVID. I have flown 20 transaltantic flights over the last two years often and pay for BA as a premium as Oneworld. The standard over the last decade has got worse and worse but I have turned a blind eye due to my loyalty. This will be my final year as a loyal customer. I will use my status with BA until it runs down, but move to either another airline. This is 100% a management consultant led finance model, that on paper will work but in practice is yet another reason the leakage of passengers is going to keep happening. They can and never model for human reaction, especially in the face of an airline that has and keeps gaslighting and pushing its once loyal customer base.

Ryanair's equivalent in Southeast Asia is definitely Lion Air. Without a shadow of a doubt 😂

BA sent out a questionnaire today seeking my views on the BAEC - that they have now destroyed for most leisure travellers. Which was somewhat bizzare, however most of the questions were actually about earning and spending Avios. So definitely expect major "enhancements" with exciting new ways to earn and spend Avios - to match my changing needs.

Hi Phil, having travelled with Qatar in economy ex Doha to and from Harare last month, can comment as follows: The BA leg to and from Qatar was very good, even with someone sitting next to me. The Qatar leg from Doha / Harare was full with a well built, albeit very pleasant lady sitting next to me. Sleep was impossible. The return leg ex Harare / Doha was cramped but a bit better. The Qatar cabin crew on both legs were excellent. Unfortunately, Qatar’s economy class has gone down in my view with the emphasis on cramming people in.

Ah well, less than £3000 to get BA Gold?! Well that was the issue then wasn’t it? That really isn’t much or particularly exclusive, whilst I was also upset about it initially I now realise that it was totally unsustainable. This will make silver and gold more exclusive, I hope BA stop this ever present rot and start improving both the cabin and the product, hopefully this will have an impact which drives improvement.

I think BA has recently increased the charges to cancel a flight - £50.00pp as of only last week (9 Jan). I cancelled my CV for two people and received my Avios back but they took off £100.00 from the original price I paid for taxes and fees. I cannot find anything recently on the BA website.

If this new scheme turns out badly (sounds like it), do you recommend another alliance to switch to? I live in London and fly to the USA frequently. I am one of those BA customers that doesn't really try to optimise my points earnings. I mainly fly with BA as the one world alliance is convenient for the places I normally fly. That said, I am disappointed by this as it already takes me half a year to get status normally.

I just few London to Brisbane via Doha, I found the seats tiny (luckily we had our 10 year old in between me and my wife) and the breakfast was absolutely disgusting, the rest of the food was gross but edible. I thought the entertainment was pretty good however. It’s just such a shame airlines are phasing out the A380, it’s just such a superior experience to the 777 and even the A350
