I take a power bank and a small desk fan with plastic blades, sometimes we rent an apartment and not all have aircon, but it's mainly for a flight, many times in the last 30 years have I been stuck on a very hot economy flight waiting for take take off and have felt physically sick, I've have seen a pensioner faint in his seat because of the heat, this small fan has saved me many times, I often get envious looks.
Thanks for your comment, I've recently need to Singapore and booked a pod hotel, and I bought a battery operated fan there. I was so desperate that I just bought the first fan I found as the shops were all closing. It is excellent but perhaps a little big for travel and I've decided to make sure that, like you, I have a smaller fan on a plane in the future.
Maybe you could convert the milk frother into a electric fan by clipping on something. I see a shark tank episode already "clip on fan for milk frother " 😅

@diamonddave2622 Thanks for your comment and your tip. I have my umbrella with me, but I have had no issues with rain. One shower as I got to the KL Tower, but I just dodged it and by the time I was done, brilliant sunshine again. If it's an odd shower then I try to get in a bar for a beer around that time 😊
@travellerseko I've yet to find any umbrella that is really good in a strong wind. It really is time for a rain jacket if it's raining and windy (or time to get into the pub)
Oh no, and I always loved Birmingham airport, my local airport, but they really have let themselves down recently haven't they. I hope it was under the 100ml limit.
The shampoo bars work really well if you're travelling carry on only. Last forever too. One thing I'd recommend is some laundry detergent sheets. Take up no room whatsoever and allow you to easily wash your own clothes in the hotel bath / sink in an emergency.
Thanks for your comment, I've never heard of Laundry Detergent Sheets, I'll have to try those. If I do a bit of "camp laundry" (usually pants and socks) I tend to wash them in the shower (best way to rinse them out thoroughly) using hotel provided body wash.
No 19 is for people like me who hate using the cheap shampoo in hotels and prefer to use something of a bit more quality. I had the same Body Shop shampoo tin set, which i took everywhere until i forgot it at the gym 😅
Thanks for this I’ve been looking for something to hold my phone while I watch tv usually prop it up against a book and it falls down -now I’ve ordered those plastic phone holders thanks for the tip. Also I hate neck pillows
+1 for compression packing cubes (recommend peak design), sun sticks, air tags and solid shampoo/conditioner! Don’t take a travel tin for it though; look at a matador soap bar case.
Thanks for your comment, Peak design seems a bit expensive. They look good but is that their only advantage? Do they compress more than other cubes? Now the little pouch for bar soap, that could be a game changer. Thanks Phil
@@mygreygapyear they compress well, are well shaped/sized, are light and have these pull tabs on them which allow for easy rip-opening, without them accidentally coming open, which I personally find very convenient. I always travel HBO, usually in a backpack, and find they fit perfectly in order to maximise the space in the bag. My wife prefers a carry on suitcase to a backpack, and also likes the PD, but prefers the Tripped Travel Gear cubes, which she feels fit a suitcase design a little better. I also like packing cubes because I can just pull them out of my bag and put them directly in the drawer when I get to the hotel; no need to unpack the cube itself.
@@kevinmcauley3847 Thank you for letting me know, I'll look at those again then. I hadn't though about the concept of not unpacking a cube on a multi-destination trip. I have found them to be a bit pointless, but I might have been using them wrong. Thanks Phil
I loved your take on this article. I’m not looking forward to your review of wearing the hair scrunchie! As for the neck pillow my wife lost hers that was attached to her bag on the bus to the Heathrow recently. So we bought 2 at the airport. Then she left mine at the hotel room! Think ive had enough of em!
Ha ha ha, I built up a collection of neck pillows that I bought at airports (can you actually buy them anywhere else?) then dragged them around wherever I went and discarded them 😂

It always sounds like a nasty alarm though, like guys in balaclavas are about to abseil into the gate. So I panic, then hope is everything alright? Then think ooohh, am I getting upgraded? 😊 Thanks for your comment, Phil
Most of those suggestions are terrible. My tip would be take zip lock bags. Handy for keeping stuff dry like packing swimming shorts or your passport if you have it on you when you are out. Neck pillows are a waste of space. I’ve never seen a person use a neck pillow the right way. The gap goes around the back so your chin is supported.
It went downhill from the fan which was about the only sensible suggestion! 😂 I find hotels mostly have things like restaurants, laundry services etc & some foreign countries even have shops - no need to drag a suitcase full of tat halfway across the world.
I know, it should be 24 things to fill your suitcase, shouldn't it? But I have to say, the Vintage (because no other kind will do) Poncho... and the milk frother... Seriously though I have the tracking tag, the power bank, packing cubes and a stand for my phone out of the list of 24.
Four-socket extension lead is my simple and cheap tip. Means I only need to take one plug adapter (assuming I’m heading somewhere that doesn’t use the UK three-pin plug).
Thanks for your comment and support Nick, Nice tip on the extension cable, I have a 4 gang extension lead stored at my daughters in Australia with a shaver plug plugged into it.
