Multirotor and Drone enthusiast with a passion for FPV and all things RC. Lately I've been hooked on building and drifting Mini RC Cars of different scale sizes. I have 12 years of experience flying, tuning and building drones from scratch and love throwing FPV (First Person View) into everything. I also build and fly micro jets and helicopters, as well as micro cars and boats. This channel will mostly cover small R/C Drift Cars, showing videos on building, upgrading, drifting, racing and flying as much as I can.
I also have my part 107 certification.

Kamtom 1/32 Scale $35 AWD RC Drift/Race Car Unboxing, Review and Test Drive, Future Upgrade Ideas
In this video I Unbox the Kamtom 1/32 Scale AWD RC Drift/Race Car, talk about what's in the box and look at the internals underneath the body and compare the similarities to the 1/28 Mini-Z MA-020 AWD Drift Car. I also talk about possibly fitting on 1/32 Scale Metal Diecast bodies to it in the future. I then test drive the car with the racing rubber tires first and after I test the plastic tires to see how well it drifts while giving you my overall thoughts on it.

WLToys K969 K989 Upgrades Rebuild Part 1: Max Steering Angle Mod and Upcoming Upgrades Overview
Whats the size of the servo if we are swapping it ?? Can i know plssss
Waiting for my Jiabaile porsche to arrive, first RC car ever. Used to have quite some fpv drones but legislation has become more and more difficult. (work in the drone sector so cant be caught flying illegaly lol). Remaking this Jiabaile into a metal body with a 3d printed base sounds real fun.
Do you sell it
Can i buy it?
You can adjust the gyro settings by pressing the power button and then pressing the trigger forward or backwards something to that effect and there's like three different settings
what size spring works with the bmw?
Do u use miniZ body’s? I bought a Aoshima skyline gtr to build my WL car. Body is longer so need to extend the chassis. Aoshima even do liberty walk “detail up!” Body kits where anyone who already has the car kit can add the wide arch’s, spoiler etc even chrome exhaust. Obviously would need modding to apply to your cars but would save a “from scratch!” Build.
Yea the main reason I designed my WLToys K969 build the way I did was to fit all my Mini-Z racing bodies I use on my MR-03. They all have a 98mm wheelbase and are wideset so they fit the K969 but I had to design the suspension extremely low to fit the McLarens and stuff on it. Some of the bodies I have like the P1 GTR have a wide body kit I put on from Garage Hiro and I love how it came out especially with the color changing paint I added. I would like to make an adjustable wheelbase K969 down the road to fit 1/24 or 1/28 scale model kits on it eventually but I'm happy with my K969 for now. I'm currently working on my LDRC, Jiabaile and Kamtom cars modding/upgrading those so they will keep me busy in the mean time lol
Awesome video again. Do you have a more definitive answer which of the 4 bodies is best (drifting, longevity, robustness, modding)?
Well it's hard to say since one doesn't really stand out more than the other enough to say it's "better" the electronics and chassis is exactly the same while the wheels are the same except for the Porsche but doesn't really give it an advantage over the others atleast not for drifting, maybe for racing it's a tad better. The Skyline and Porsche have the most room under the body to add other stuff if that matters but I'm currently taking all the best parts from two chassis to make good one lol
Bro i want it sooo bad my recent 200 dollar rc car broke and dont have another one
I put a lot of work into this one over a long period of time so I would say take your time and build your own the way you want like I did or fix the one you have. Which ever route you take is up to my friend.
8:08, that's an lamborghini centenario, but can't wait to see if the diecast body works, I might buy it to just do that haha
Yea I should have realized that looking at the rear end lol They labeled it as an Aventador and I have a 1/43 scale Aventador so I got them mixed up
Just got in to the hobby less than a week ago. Got myself the 98mm Blue Yellow Bilstein AMG GT3. I Live in China and found a guy that custom builds metal chassis. It’s called Zero-Z. There is a youtube channel with the builds. Picked one up. RWD Drift version and it’s a blast to drive. Made some adjustments to it following your videos. So far I think your channel is the best in the space! Binge watching your videos and learning a ton! Thanks for sharing your knowledge
You're welcome man, glad you are having fun with the hobby and my videos can help you out. Wish I had a guy around here doing some custom builds like that lol I do what I can with what I got here in the US and I definitely don't know everything in this hobby but I try to share what I know to the best of my knowledge. Thanks for watching my channel and I hope you continue to have a blast my friend
any update on your body swap and mods?
I have a layout of how I'm going to do everything, I'm just finishing up on maxing out the steering on my LDRC then I'll be working on the 1/43 scale right after.
Dose the remot need batteries
The remote needs 4 AAA batteries that do not come with the box so you need to supply your own.
Where did you learn to make these!?!? They look awesome
Thanks man. I just design my own custom parts to make these small rc drift cars better like maxing out the steering angle. I learned mostly through trial and error until it drives the way I want. This is a custom WLToys K969 chassis that I 3d printed parts so I could fit Mini-Z bodies on it. ua-cam.com/users/shortsD8-s0S2wNwU ua-cam.com/users/shortsnHrMBq9IZCY ua-cam.com/users/shortsv0-JMwl80Qk ua-cam.com/users/shortsLN2FqD8peGk

I don't know, I bought random parts over the past year and put it together piece by piece. It's a custom build with my own 3d printed parts as well so it's one of a kind, nothing like the stock WLToys K969. Also it's not for sale, sorry man.
Nice review. Could you put MiniZ parts on it, like shocks, rear locked diff and front one way?
Everything is smaller on the Kamtom since it's 1/32 scale so I doubt you can use Mini-Z parts that are 1/28 scale. I haven't measured the diff sizes to compare yet but just by looking at it the Mini-Z size diffs look too big to fit. I plan on doing a disassembly video on the Kamtom soon so I'll see the size differences when I take it apart.
@@AirToGroundRCFPV thank you very much for the reply!
@@ivanluhi No problem, The springs might be similar in size for the shocks so it's possible they could be used so I'll confirm that soon.

Hello, very nice little car, you peek my interest, I do love my wltoys k969, never thought this small rc cars could be this much fun. I was reading your bio but couldn't figure out where are you from, can you kill my curiosity? 😂 Thanks for the very informative videos you put out I allways look forward to your videos and many times I drink some inspiration for my own creations my friend. See you soon. Ricardo
No problem man. I live in the US, Florida to be specific.
could you just cut the nub off?
Yea later on I looked at it and came to that conclusion but I already posted the video lol So yea just cut it off its really not needed for anything

Tutorial pls❤❤
On my channel I have a playlist of videos showing how I started and finished the K969 rebuild
Thank you for the nice video clip. I am thinking about buying one soon. I wonder if the servo is good. Please check it out and let me know weather it works well or not. I hope I will see the next upgradig process go. Thaks again. Have a nice weekend! Seoul, Korea^^
I talked to someone who already burnt out the servo from driving it a lot so it probably won't last long it you beat it up. I have a metal gear servo of similar size that I will swap out on mine since I plan on upgrading everything on the car. It's a replacement servo for the Orlandoo Hunter Crawler.
could we upgrade it with brushless motor and more steering angle (pls ignore my english😅)
You could but that would be difficult to find the right size tiny brushless motor and kv. You would also need to replace the ESC for a brushless one so you would have to get rid of the stock electronics and use your own receiver and transmitter too. Then you would need to design your own mount for the motor on the chassis and try to get the gears to line up. It would not be an easy mod to do.
@ can I change the servo? but idk what size will fit the kit. if i changes will it improve the steering angle?
@@thienn9496 You could but changing the servo won't fix the steering angle. You will have to move the servo to a better spot and change the steering mount to a swiveling T-mount and grind away the plastic around the wheels so they can get a bigger turning radius. Plus the electronics board will be in the way of the wheels too so you would need to change out the electronics to your own that's smaller in size that doesn't interfere with the wheels. It's also not an easy mod, I've started to do it on mine but I won't be done with it for a week or two atleast.
@ thanks man, im waiting your video
Would you mind sharing the link for the brass gear and differential set?
They should be the first two links down in the description of the video
I have been looking at some 1/32 scale Plastic model kits ,they would be a lot lighter than the Diecast .
For drifting a little bit of extra weight on this thing is not a bad idea but definitely too heavy for racing. Diecast is a pain to work with though so I would rather mess with plastic bodies instead, what manufacturer makes those model kits if you mind me asking? If they are good I may go that route instead, thanks for the heads up.
Good luck with the mods! 💪
Thanks man, I got a lot of work ahead of myself with all these cars lol
So is this the answer we were looking for on makeing the 143 jaibailes better lol? Cause it where i landed too.... lololol 🤣
hahaha right? I love the 1/43 scale size but this one is built better than they are at the moment so it's easier for me to mod and stuff. I will still do all the upgrades and everything I had planned for the 1/43 cars but when I saw this one I knew it had some potential for what I can turn it into. The new LDRC 1/28 models are a let down, they are too toy grade and I'm not even gonna waste my time with that so this was the only other good option to choose from and probably my last mini rc car I will be modifying for now until something really good comes out but right now I don't see anything else out worth my time.
@@AirToGroundRCFPV I can't decide to get this or the LDRC 1/28 R34...... Bc if I go ahead and go 1/24-28 scales. I might as well get a real chassis and i can't stop eyeballing the BMR-X RWD with the front motor position...for reasons.. 😬... I'm trying to find a soild drifter for a 20×20foot polished concrete carport driving area... the 1/43 is awsome as hell but I need something better... I got the skills bc I've lived a lifetime on forza... I needs The Car... Any recommendations from anyone would be helpful.... .. I don't really want a mini z.. The mini q and d seem ok but I'm still looking for that 1/28ish scale Unicorn.... I got a great "yard car" 1/16mjx ... I got a Unicorn street car.. 1/8 arrma infraction... dear god.. I love.. Now I just need a soild carport/indoor car....
@@adamross4774 That really comes down to you and your budget. If you have the money, get a top shelf 1/24 or 1/28 scale chassis designed for drifting and put whatever body you want on it but if you want to go cheaper the LDRC 1/18 scale car is probably the best cheap drifter for the area you want to drift it.
So far i liked this Kamtom drive the best out of the box from all the cheap (AWD) models i've drifted with so far. Eventough it doesnt allow the gyro gain to be adjusted, it doesn't extremely oversteer as others would. My servo died quickly though and it wasnt easy to find a working replacement. In the end i replaced the motor in the original servo.
Yea out of the box for it's price it's really not bad. I wish these companies would stop making everything AWD though, it would be nice to see some RWD models for drifting in this price range. I will convert it to RWD soon and increase steering angle but it's work I wish I didn't have to do. I have a metal gear servo I was debating on using for one of my 1/43 scale builds but I think I will use it for this since it's almost the same exact size. It's a replacement upgrade for the Orlandoo Hunter crawler but it's perfect for these little drift builds.
@@AirToGroundRCFPV What if a Fella took the front drive shaft out?
@@joepiper6064 That's what I'll do to turn it into RWD but the steering angle needs to be increased to drift better with RWD. So I'll remove the center drive shaft and front differential/solid axle, then I'm gonna redesign the front steering mechanism to max out the angle.
This is why, I've ordered LDRC Nissan Skyline 😂 Thank you for overview of this rc model. ❤ ** I've been looking for rc cars for about 5 months. Everything cheap, is a toy grade models. But, that LDRC looks like beginner hobby grade to me. Just like rc helicompers with collective pitch and plastic parts to upgrade. So... 😊 *** Dang! I'm 35 and buying myself an rc car. Sometimes I feel so dumb, but my wife is ok to hobby. I love her! She wants to drive it too 😂😂😂😂
The LDRC models are a great starting point for sure. Don't feel dumb for being in the RC hobby at that age, there's nothing wrong with that. At that age it's easier to understand how to fix things and makes things work, etc. Life can be rough so there's nothing wrong with having some fun and this hobby is great for the family to get involved with too so you guys enjoy yourselves
I've got the BMW. Honestly, for what it cost they're shockingly good. Good runtime too (~25 mins).
It's hard to pass up the NFS:MW M3 GTR lol glad you're having fun with it, it's size makes it easy to drive anywhere.
hi, does it still gonna work if my car doesn't have internal gyro?
Yea even better since you won't have to keep turning off the internal gyro every time you turn the car on.
@@AirToGroundRCFPV thx for fast reply

if you had to choose between the 1/32 and 1/43?
Definitely a tough question. I love the 1/43 size more if they were built better, just hate having to modify and customize everything the way I want especially when they are that small. The 1/32 has potential, still relatively small but big enough to have individual suspension and room to mod things easier. There's pros and cons for each I can't really give you a definitive answer yet.
Need to figure out what size the bushings are to switch to bearings. To bad it didn't have open diffs
Yea I noticed they are plastic solid axles, didn't check to see if it had bearings yet so you're saying it has bushings? that sucks, def need to change those then for sure
wish I could have the cash to do the things u do
I don't have as much as you think I do otherwise I'd be buying 300 to 500 dollar builds instead of these $40 rc cars haha this channel is helping with some of it but still not much.
Yea they definitely copied a lot from the Mini-Z AWD drift version lol
I know right lol
awd "drift" needs to die off. its RWD or bust
Brooo, you're telling me, I'm so over it too. Every new small scale drifter comes AWD for some reason, I don't get why it's the main set up. I feel it would be cheaper and easier to make them RWD out of the box instead, I'm tired of having to mod everything into RWD.
@@AirToGroundRCFPV i hear there is a new red miata LDRC with metal transmission and actual suspension now. its the "flagship" model
@@hardtobearit Hopefully they don't increase the price too much then. "Flagship" lol just for adding parts that should have come with the car from the beginning. I guess that's all we have to look forward to from LDRC since the 1/28 scale drifter they just came out with is straight up toy grade. I won't waste my time getting it that's why I opted out to review this car instead.
@@AirToGroundRCFPV i know they are slowly updating all the cars. new motor receiver tires and all of that sorta stuff. whats the new car they have?
@@hardtobearit So they came out with a 1/28 scale model and at first I was excited to see what they could make at the size and I'm disappointed with the direction they went with it. It has no suspension front or back, it comes in 1s or 2s but 2s version was difficult to find when I was looking for it. No gyro, I forgot if it even had lights at all, the chassis is designed like an oversized toy car it's a huge let down Plus they are trying to get 25 to 40 bucks for it.
I think explaining to not put in the ball bearings to help it stay locked made this mod a lot more clearer for me. Thanks man.
Yea no need for the ball bearings if you are gonna lock it anyway. glad I could help you out my friend.
How do you fit the giro

If you race 4 do they come with different frequencies so they run independently from other cars?
They all have their own separate frequencies and can be driven at the same time together without interference.
Great video, the little screw doest hold it sucks
Thanks man and yea I hate that design it blows. Did you try the red Loctite that came with it?
Someone change battery for better one ?
You can swap out to a bigger one if you want, just gotta make sure you have room to fit it under the body.

Would the RWD MR-03 chassis be good to have the GL-Racing body of the Ferrari 488 GTR ?
Yea that's basically what the body was designed to fit on. As long as your MR-03 is set up for 98mm wheelbase and wide(not narrow) bodies.
@AirToGroundRCFPV would the Mclaren readyset work on this, I believe it's a MR-03 chassis

What's the longest compressed spring length Porsche allows?
I haven't checked but I was able to use a WLToys K969 stock spring on it and that's about an inch long uncompressed so maybe 1/4 to 1/2 inch compressed.
