I stayed at hotel Kria when I went back in October. Was a fantastic time. Highly recommend. Best English breakfast in all of Iceland, and the coffee was out of this world!!
Good to know - I will have to try it one day!

The MOSSY OASIS?!? Ok I’m an Iceland enthusiast and I’ve never heard of this…wow!!
To be fair... it doesn't have a name that I could find anywhere, so this was the nickname we gave to it as we drove by :)
@@VividIceland ok that makes sense but I love the name!! I am American but I swear I am Icelandic deep down in my core. I think I have a map of it in my brain memorized. I would like to visit this mossy oasis! lol
@@jenniferpersinger4020 Maybe you have viking ancestors! It's a beautiful spot to visit, you can see it if you drive south from Mælifell in the highlands of Iceland.
@@VividIceland I actually have an Icelandic cousin who lives near the Golden Circle, and I got to meet her when I came to Iceland a couple of years ago…she even let me ride one of her horses! We are unfortunately related through Swedish means lol 😂 I still claim Iceland as my own and DREAM of living there one day. It’s the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen with amazing people 🥰🙌
A BIG adventure❤
Fun as always!
Where exactly is this? Looks SUPER cold and white
This is in northern Iceland, a waterfall called Goðafoss
It must have beautiful scenery😅
It's really a fun job, I get to see and experience so much while out and about on surveillance!
Is that an steel structure
Nope, it's just glacial ice 🤩
Sick
This is absolutely amazing ❤
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
Love Vik. Delicious take on pizza.
It's a beautiful little village - the black crust pizza has gotta be my favourite pizza in Iceland!
❤
How can I go on a glacier in Iceland?
If you jump over to my website vividiceland.is you can book a private tour with me! Hope to see you here :)
@@VividIceland thanks for the info
That's safe? I mean, how do you know there's no dead animal above or someone piss nearly by?
That's a good question, and the short answer is yes it is safe. The place where this glacier is located is quite desolate and as a result there aren't many animals that live in this area, plus there is no food for animals on the glacier either so they tend to avoid it. Also, at this time of year, most of the animals have either flown away or are at much lower altitudes. We also scout the area and check where streams are coming from, most originate deep within the glacier so it's very pure water. And of course we always check if there are people nearby and to make sure they aren't peeing on the glacier! Please come visit one day!
@@VividIceland Hi! Thanks for reply. Two things: for sure someday I'll be there. Second: what about "bacteria" or things that you cannot see with your eyes. I know Iceland is well known by the purity of their water and air (this last one gets less attention) but I have this second concern. Thanks for reading!
@@sobrehombre9338 I think for sure there is some kind of bacteria in the water, but I believe it's such a low concentration that your immune system and stomach acids would probably deal with it quite easily. This terrain is incredibly barren so I would imagine only the hardiest of extremophilic bacteria would survive here. Since they are adapted to surviving in such an extreme environment, I doubt they could survive the harshness of the human stomach. For what it's worth, I've been drinking water from the glacier for more than 7 years and my house's water supply is a glacier fed stream as well - I've never had any waterborne illnesses. Hope this answers your query :)
@@VividIceland That's interesting. Yes, that help. I know the Icelandic houses have a very clean water and I say this because I know because global warming and the melting of the ice it can have some type of bacteria. Well, you experience help me to trust. Someday I'll make a tea with the glacier water. Thanks for your replies!
@@sobrehombre9338 Sounds like a plan!
Omg that's so so so so 🥶
Surely we are all drinking water that is billions of years old.
All the water on Earth is around 3.8 to 4 billion years old.. it’s been changing between liquid, solid and gas for all that time.. moving between rivers, oceans, glaciers, the sky.. and us.. think about that next time you piss in the shower.
Underrated
Thanks!
I feel like you have the best job ever ❤
Yes, I'm very fortunate to have this opportunity. It's really quite special at times :)
looks like a cool job
Yup - I'm very fortunate to have it :)
looks so refreshing
It's the best thing to drink after a long hike on the glacier lol
wow what kind of landscapes are these???
The highlands are just plain amazing! Like nothing I've ever seen...
💯
The best water I've ever drank!
What a crazy spot 😱
It was unbelievable to see it in person
So serene
Sure is
Hi, I wanna visit Iceland in the next year. Im currently planning my trip and was thinking about which guide to pick for exploring Sólheimajökull glacier, I dont want a regular tourist trip but something more. Thats why I was thinking about going with stepman . Do you have any more reccomendations?
I run glacier tours on Sólheimajökull, send me an email: bookings@vividiceland.is I can certainly help with whatever you’re after 😁
it looks like blue glass...
It really does!
I need to go there
It has apparently melted, but I will keep you all updated since I will be visiting it again soon
wow... so peaceful
Indeed!
Great video! What is the location of that ship wreck at the beginning of your trip? Thanks
It's quite close to the harbour where the ferry departs from on the mainland. Maybe about a 20 minute walk to the west of it along the black beach. You can see it from the harbour parking lot. Hope this helps!
@@VividIcelandthis is great, got it! Thank you for getting back to me. Will be there next week.
@@VividIceland Here is what I found. Apparently it was a cargo ship that burned down in 1974. "..the remains of a Swedish cargo ship Sigurður Gísli, VE 127, built in 1946, that caught fire in 1974 while sailing from the Westman Islands. The ship was carrying a cargo of cement and timber when it ignited, forcing the crew to abandon the ship immediately. The burning vessel was eventually beached at Landeyjahöfn, where it was left to deteriorate without any attempt to salvage or repair it. Today, the wreck is still visible on the beach at Landeyjahöfn, but it is just an irreparable piece of history."
@@tl6128 Wow very cool find! Thanks for the information about it. I’ll have to remember that for my next visit 😃
Really beautiful village 😮
It really is!
Belas imagens. Excelente trabalho.
