@@chriscard6544 The Westman Islands? I got this from Wikipedia: "The islands are named after Gaels who had been captured into slavery by Norsemen. The Old Norse word Vestmenn, literally "Westmen", was applied to the Irish, and retained in Icelandic even though Iceland is further west than Ireland."
It's possible to visit year-round, but depending on the weather in winter they do move the ferry terminal further away on the mainland. It's worth checking their website herjolfur.is/en/ for up-to-date information. I would love to visit it in the winter when there is snow... Hopefully this year!
