Thanks Serbia! We’re back in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt & I have some thoughts.
Our month-long trip to Serbia was really incredible and it left me with so many amazing memories. It also left me thinking about how many similarities Egyptians and Serbians have and how I’m lucky to have experienced both cultures.
Come along with me as I share my thoughts and introduce you to where I’m currently living…in sunny Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt.

Egypt is just underrated by many...but is very beautiful
Yes it’s so true.
Nice video, thank you - By now you must have remembered the name of KROFNA, right? By the way, way way back, as a child I was able to see passing in a open car, our president Tito of Yugoslavia and your president Gamal Abdel Nasser who was there for a state visit. How time flies. ...
Very cool that you saw Tito and Gamal Abdel Nasser. They were good friends. There is a street in Cairo named after Tito :) And omg I don’t know how I forgot krofne lol I certainly won’t after this 🤣 Thanks very much for watching 🙏🏽

My daughter will graduate from college in a few years and I will take her to Egypt as a gift because she really wants to see the pyramids. I am a Serbian born in America but will live there part time when I retire in 4yrs. Do you have any recommendations and places to see besides pyramids when we go to Egypt? I really enjoyed watching your series on Serbia and also will watch about your country as well, thanks for sharing 🇪🇬🇷🇸
Thank you so much, I’m so glad you’re enjoying my videos 🙏🏽 and that is a very nice graduation gift! I recommend doing a Nile cruise which is not only a beautiful sight but it will take you to Luxur and Aswan and to many temples and tombs. You can get a private tour guide as well if you like who will travel with on the same boat as you and will show you around each sight plus you get your own time to do as you like. Sharm el Sheikh, Hurghada or the North Coast are all amazing if you want to be near the sea. There are many newer areas of Egypt which are also really nice in their own way and are great if you prefer something more modern. I hope this helps 😊
@@gamal-salemyes, thanks 😊
You are giving Turks to much credit. They came from stepa and adopted plenty of words from Iran, Arabs, Greeks, Serbs, domesticated and re-exported from a position of ruler. Btw, first diplomatic contact between Egypt and Serbia were made during Bahri dynasty and Serbian Emperor Dušan about 1348. Mameluks picked up most of archives of Kairo, so, document about that is still saved in Istambul archives.
You are correct and I was mostly talking about the food…coffee, djevrek, ćevapi and our kofta. I realize that perhaps it sounded like I meant the language came from Turks too but it’s not what I meant. It was also just a little bit of humour as that is another similarity between us (being under the Ottoman Empire).

Many people from Serbia go to Sharm el Sheikh for summer holidays. Our tourist agencies have it on their offer. I am glad that you enjoyed Serbia.
Yes we have met some Serbs here while on holiday. I hope more will come. Many go to Hurghada, but I wish that they will have a direct flight to Belgrade from Sharm to make it easier. Serbia was amazing, thank you 🙏🏽

I agree. I also think Zemun is really nice too.
لوسمحت ممكن رقم حد فى الفندق نحجز من خلاله
معنديش ارقام حد بصراحة! بس ممكن الحجز يكون اونلاين
Cocta is good drink but not from Serbia
Everyone kept telling me to try this Serbian drink lol I think I read on the bottle it was manufactured in Croatia, if I remember correctly, but then someone told me it originated in Slovenia. It’s a bit too sweet for me though.
Thank you for a beautiful video with great music!!
🙏🏽 thank you for your support.
Very nice music and very nice views.
So much beauty in Serbia

Have you tried Serbian traditional food? I only saw you eating salmon toast with poached eggs. Not very traditional Serbian food.
If you watch the whole video you will see that we were also at Dva Jelena and ate traditional Serbian food. I’m married to a Serb so I eat traditional Serbian food all the time lol You can also see this video too: ua-cam.com/video/0f2RIhOlFoU/v-deo.htmlsi=4O9r4GM2vXYkWPxD

"Izvolite" is used frequently as a formal way of saying "here you go", "come in/be seated" and a "how may I be of service" question. Both a service offering and a service delivery line, basically.
Yes my wife explained it to me a bit more off camera. I heard the word often, especially in the market. Everyone was saying it. Thanks a lot for the info! Serbian is a wonderful language.
Let me recommend few: Đerdan ( Jelene Mioč 1, Zvezdara) . Exceptional. Tasty and huge dishes. Meat. In various shapes and prepares . Kod Ive ( Spasovdanska 7 , Žarkovo) . Veal head in Skembe ( cow stomack ) . One of two best meals ever. And, dont miss BRIZLE . Its Calf gland which , with age , became hard and tasteless , so young calf is only source. That is best meal ever. In a history of meals. No meat or fish could match BRIZLE. if you ever return, straight to Kod Ive on brizle. Cheers.
Wow those are some interesting dishes! I have tried skembe before and that was pretty good but haven’t had the others yet. I’ll have to add these to my list. Hvala puno :)
@@gamal-salem just to clarify - veal head in skembe. It's ground meat with onions and garlic and carrots with spices , skembe is a wrapping. So, meal you get is not either chowder, neither breaded skembe . ( Which is also delicious 🤤 ) All best, mate 👍
@@goransukovic8703 I never heard of this dish before but I’m so curious about it now!
Nice video bro, do tell the prices along. Will be very helpful. 👍
Thank you! I didn’t include prices as they might change over time so what I show in the video could become incorrect. The good thing is that they have their prices listen on their site and often have special deals and offers. It’s free to get a membership for the public (if you’re not registering as a business). www.metro.rs/
Hey, nice information. Can you tell the exact place where this market is. Make some more videos , where can we get halal meat.
Thanks so much. I’m not in Serbia at the moment but I can try to make a video about this next year. If you Google Halal meat in Belgrade, you will see some places pop up :) This market is in Vidikovac. It’s called Vidikovačka Green Market or Pijaca Vidikovac (you can search either in Google for the exact location). Hope this helps.
@@gamal-salem thanks a lot
Thank you all for these wonderful recommendations, my next trip there, I will know where to go!!
I hope you enjoy!
Missing the greatest dish Karadjordjeva snitzl, stuffed cabbage, and many more but nice video
Thanks so much. Yes karadjordjeva is my wife’s favourite but we didn’t end up having it this trip. I will have to include that in my video next time…as well as sarma 😁 there’s so many good Serbian dishes.
Great video!!!!
Thank you 🙏🏽
In Belgrade I recommend "Little Bay" - very romantic, like dining at a theater, get the upper booth inside for a full romantic experience. On weekends they have live music like piano, jazz, violin.... I also recommend "Lorenzo & Kakalamba". A blend of south Serbia and south Italy, a super unusual interior and also very good food. In Nis, I recommend "Stambolijski" - a bit on the pricey side but located in an 1875 historical building. In Novi Sad I recommend "Plava Frajla". Excellent food. Interesting detail - chairs hanging from the ceiling. In Novi Pazar I recommend "Gaziya", right in the city center. If you are traveling through Serbia with a car, at the twentieth kilometer of the main road Kraljevo-Raška, is the town of Bogutovac and its officially oldest Serbian tavern, "Kafana kod Mira". It's supposed to be the oldest Serbian "Kafana" or traditional restaurant. The "?" in Belgrade is about the same age, from the 1820s. In Niska Banja, I recommed "Kod Gurmana". If you are looking for really big portions in Belgrade, I recommend "Durmitor".
For pecenje or roasted pork or lamb in Belgrade, I recommend "Pecenjara kod Deda Stavre". For a Royal experience, I recommend the Cake of Queen Nathalie of Serbia, which you can try at the House of Jevrem Grujic in Svetogorska Street in Belgrade. It's a nice, small museum, but they found an original recipe for a cake, loved by a Serbian Queen. For the best street "palacinke" or crepes or Serbian pancakes (American pancakes are different), try Pinnochio in Zemun. It's a kiosk, always full. For crepes, also Milky has great ones. They are available in quite a few places.
Wowwwww this is absolutely incredible!! Thank you so much for all of these recommendations! I took screenshots of everything you wrote and will hopefully get to try some of these places next time I go! 😁
Now this is the video I was waiting for! Love this 😍😍😍
Thank you 😊

You could have rented a car, it wouldn't have been costier for five people than the train wnd buses.
Totally agree. Funny thing is that we had a car there 🤣 but my father-in-law and wife’s uncle wanted us to experience the speed train.
This summer has been scorching hot in all of southern Europe. The exceedingly high temperatures are out of ordinary.
We were lucky to have nice weather the first few weeks but near the end of our visit, omg it was brutally hot.
30:44 italian vibe and greek musik
30:44 Serbian great romantic poet and painter. He was called Serbian Byron or Hugo
26:40 that spring is who knows how old. Maybe even from roman times. Turkish historian Evliya Çelebi, was in Belgrade in 1667 and described two inscriptions on that fountain: "This drinking fountain was renovated by the benefactor Sokollu Mehmed Pasha 1576-1577" and "Come, my God, if on this world you wish to drink from paradise spring" So you drank the water from paradise😄 The Ottoman Grand vezier Mehmed Pasha Sokolović was of Serbian origin and made the fountains, churches, mosques and the well known Bridge on the Drina river (the architect was renowned Mimar Sinan).
27:04 actually that was spring water. And down to the Saint Petka church is also spring water. Maybe when they renovated they put the pipes for city water ć. But I doubt it. Because they are checking it regulary🤔
Wow that’s pretty incredible!! Thanks for sharing this information with me. We weren’t sure if it was city water or not. I just appreciated having water available to drink as it was super hot that day, but the history makes it that much better!!
@@gamal-salem yes it's nice to imagine how many people trough the centuries stoped there to rest, and refresh with cold spring water. Maybe even the Sultan Suleyman who spent some of his last days in Belgrade 😁
Yes, food is still better than in North America but far from where it was just 5 years ago! Farmers in Serbia are getting out of business rapidly. Prices of food and everything skyrocketed in last two years. Serbia has now some of the most expensive groceries in Europe, highest pollution and cancer rates in the world. Sad.
Sadly I think most of the world is the same. My parents-in-laws moved back to Serbia 2 years ago and they said the same thing…that in the last 2 years prices have gone up by a lot. The world is not the same as it was.
