After market controller for the Pit Boss 820D

After purchasing an after market controller for my Pit Boss that is marketed as being an "upgrade" I thought I would make this video. After installing the new controller it was not controlling very will at all, especially on the smoke setting. Smoke setting was reaching 310 degrees. I inquired about a P setting for the controller from the company I purchased from and they insisted there was not...

Hello! I have same fridge but have problem gettong the cover off, with screw of its stuck in the region with the tube above it. Is there some trick to get it loose..?
No, no tricks. Just unscrew it.
I just did a cleaning on mine. It was quite dirty with rust. I couldn’t get the tube out so I used the reverse blower on my shop vac and blew it all out. I put it back together and tried it. Still clicked a few times but I got it going with a lighter. It’s still running. I’m going away this weekend so I’ll be trying it out then Thanks so much.
Glad to help. Please subscribe and like.
How has it held up over the years? 😊
Great! Still looks as it did when I laid it down. Just a little dirtier :)
Would you have the part number for that? I can not seem to find a replacement (I have the same fridge)!
No, sorry.
Thanks
Thank you for taking the time to post. Very helpful for owner's of old travel trailers.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you very much
Any time
Awesome thanks
Welcome 😊

GREAT MAN !!! THANK ALOT !! Ill be changing mine soon !!!
Glad to help. Please subscribe if you find it helpful.
Only the Germans design a clip like that.🙄
Hahaha. Yup.
The clip on my 03 E320 is completely different. Still haven't figured out how to get it off😢
Hi can I ask a question what milk should I use with coco pops to fill a pot hole on the road outside my house Semi skimmed or full. I’m sure I would have more success doing this than repairing my car with your crap video.
I would recommend giving yourself an anima with whole milk.
I’d recommend putting tape to over it to cover it that way it’ll act as a cover and the wheel won’t go crashing down inside
Are both mounts the same on each side? There isn’t a right one and a left one right? Also what size was the offset wrench
Its in the video. 16mm
What would be the cause needed to change this out? I have constant battery protection on at the moment.
Battery protection could be one reason, but really anything that involves the battery. Most of the battery issues I have seen with this car have been related to the alternator/voltage regulator. I would start there.
@@diymechanic5503 both batteries and alt and voltage reg are new. I’m trying the auxiliary relay and if that doesn’t fix it, off to the merc specialist (not dealer!)
@@WhitePOWERranger1 What is the car actually doing? Is it just an error message? No symptoms? Or are there symptoms?
@@diymechanic5503 2 things I can see: 1) turns on battery protection between 10 and 60 seconds when I start the car, and 2) I checked the voltage on the new aux battery and it stayed at 12.xx. The main was at 13.8x at the same time. If I change the relay and nothing changes I will take it in. The rear BCM looks clean. The codes are 9050 and 9051.
@@WhitePOWERranger1 Well good luck! I'm stumped.
“ I’m gonna need a bigger screw driver” - Mechanics: felt that
Hey! Thank you sir! Saved me ~$200
Good job!! Glad you fixed it.
thanks man. mine was same problem. all fixed now!!!
The screw seems to be rusted into place, and it's hard to get a good angle on it to apply enough pressure to unscrew. Any tips on how to gain access to behind that panel, or some other way to clean that tube out without taking off the metal panel that covers it? Thanks so much!
You will have to get that cover off to access the tube. Have you tried spraying some PB blaster or something on it? Even if you have to cut the screw off you can replace it, its just a standard sheet metal screw. Hope this helps.
Many thanks! I was trying to take that off for 20 min without success.
Hahaha. It's a bugger. Glad it helped.
If you push on that button propane will come out. I tried that and big flame was ignited but the fridge did not ignite. Luckily I was not hurt.
Not sure what button you are referring to, but I don't mention anything about pushing any buttons. I would not recommend you attempt to work on your RV.
Thank you so much! This saved me a lot of time and frustration.
Glad it helped!
I changed the battery for a W211 E320 , the car starts then the fan goes at full speed ..doesn't engage any gear it's showing the battery sign on the dash... i tried diagnostic tool it's not showing any fault codes Any ideas ..can it be the BCM ?
Sounds like something more may be going on with your issue. Not that familiar with the W211, but have you checked your alternator/voltage regulator?
@@diymechanic5503 the alternator was shot I over hauled it , new rectiftor, Voltage regulator and bearing .. tomorrow I will intsall it and I hope everything will be back to normal.
@@mohamedazkoul9544 Very nice! Let us know how it goes.
@DIY Mechanic Thanks but not a good news , I installed it the engine fired up for 1 min and died , there is no fuel pressure, there is no power to the fuel pump, the fuse and the rely are fine.... I don't know what happened. ..the car is in prefect condition driven only 95K km's the battery dead for 1 month before that everything was fine.
I took to a mechanic because I can't DIY this problem, the main wirring harness is eaten by a mice , after connecting few chewed wires he was able to start the car yet , the accerlator is not working.
We use a similar tape in underground gas pipes.. I’m actually pretty sure it’s the same thing. If properly installed it prevents the steel pipes from corrosion for tens of years.. seems like a roof would be no problem for this “tape coat” which is what we call it ..
What go bad to replaced the BCM?
could see an error such as "AUX equipment turned off" or something to that effect. I was getting an error that my battery was not working properly but I was getting a good voltage when I measured so it was very strange. It turned out to be the voltage regulator on the alternator that fixed the problem. I made a video on that as well. Hope this helps!
As long as your battery is not drain when parked it's good to go. I have a 09 replaced battery 3 times in last 4 months. It was a pain. It was draining over 3 amps in 15 mins. It was the bad driver side seat module went bad. Took out the seat connector and reads less than 0.05 Memphis. All good so far. ...
Sorry for the typo. It's 0.05 M amp
@@youngjung4361 Probably 0.05 mA not 0.05 MA :) Glad you found it, that's good information. Thanks for sharing!
Thank You very very much
Glad it helped!
I have a 2004 c240 both door handles are broken. Local shop $620 labor alone to replace. I'm going to tackle it myself. Thanks for the video.
Love it. You will have no problem doing it.
Thx for the video!
Seems to me this controller was not much of an upgrade over the OEM unit.
Main thing is having the probe inputs. The old controller didn't have that.
It worked for me as well. Mud dauber at the end of the tube. Fixed it!😀 Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Caught one the first day I got it. The best
Awesome!
I just changed out the batteries and alternator due to a constant low convenience power. A couple weeks later I see the "visit workshop" and "battery/alternor stop vehicle". Now looking at this video, I'll take a look at the bcm. Any additional advice or recommendations to look into?
If you just changed the alternator then got this warning, I would go back and make sure everything got hookup up correctly. I think it is unlikely to be the BCM but you never know. Good luck!
Is it neccesaey to disconnect main battery before changing bcm And also, when changing, first disconect minus cabel and then the jack?
Did it work
Great video and this will be the second time I’ve had to do this on my refrigerator. Living on the coast makes more rust and driving from San Diego to South Dakota and then returning on very rough road repair areas caused more rust to fall in again. Thanks for the video.👏
thanks for this, great video
Use Dicor for sealing vents and such. There is a reason MFG's do, look at you vents in the background. Eternabond is the lazy route. Eternabond is a patch and should be used as such. Have fun getting the residue off when it needs replaced, not the same issues with Dicor. This will show you what I mean ua-cam.com/video/UB8bv61EpuY/v-deo.html
I use dicor as well. The tape is holding up just fine. I don’t plan on ever removing it until it’s time to put a new roof membrane down.
"Make sure you don't cut through your [new/old] roof." - DUH!! You could have placed a board under the tape before using the blade to cut it, eh? Not sure there's any point to watching further after a mistake like that!
whatever bro. I didn't cut my roof, I was cutting on the flange of vent. Thanks for the comment.
@@diymechanic5503 Look again at the 0:58 sec. mark.
@@JosephOster bottom line, I did not cut my roof because I took my time and was careful. Still holding up as good as day one. Thanks for your concern and suggestion for others.

Did what you said, and what many others say, to clean out the burner and flue. But, that was not my problem. I discovered that orifice was clogged. Real easy to take out, and cleaned out with a very small needle, and worked great again.
Yeah I should have mentioned that as well. Glad you got it going!
IT WORKED!!!!! I thought I was in for a visit to a repair man but you have solved a very frustrating problem. Thank you so so soooo much!!!
Show me where the fuse for the wiper in the wiper pump
Sorry, I no longer have this vehicle but it is where all the other fuses are. You just have to find the one labeled Wiper pump. I think it is in a black box under the hood right in front of the driver.
That was very helpful! Thank you!!
I didn't have luck w this. Gopher kept disarming it w dirt or just dig another tunnel. Finally used a water hose to flood him out then shot it when it surfaced. Took 2min
Yeah, that happens sometimes. Usually means you need to get further from the hole. Anyway, glad you got the varmint.
Great detail, camera work and explaining!
Bring a cutting board next time you made me nervous!!
Great set-up! 👍
Thanks! 👍
Hi, do you know of a Company tha Refurbish the Battery Control Unit 230-540-10-45-80
No I don’t. Sorry.
What is the length of that farm jack?
48"
Awesome video. Think itll work in cold weather?
I don't see why not. Just make sure you put plenty of pressure on it. If you have a roller, use it.
Thanks
