A CANOE CREW ADDITION! The STARCREST 3320 Canoe Knife @HTS_EDC

I recently purchased a unique brand of canoe knife, the Starcrest 3320. It was produced in Japan, probably around the 1970's or 1980's. I compare it with a Buck 389 Canoe with burlwood inlays. Additionally, I reattach the Buck Shield to one of my most favorite carry knives, a Buck 389 with jigged bone inlays. Enjoy! Folding hunters are great knifes. Thanks tom for the too for Tuesday review
Those are wonderful gifts from CB and Randy! Beautiful lock back knives. 110 style knives are some of my favorites. Great video! Cheers, Dubya
Great 2 for Tuesday. Thanks for sharing
Hey tom I believe the Frontier is 440 B stainless but I could be wrong.
Nice pair of lockbacks. I really like that Frontier. Thanks for sharing today Tom. Have a great day.
Sweet looking knives. You have a wonderful day today Tom.
The checkering looks great on the Imperial. I don't think I've ever seen one of those in the wild. Thanks for sharing
Love those folding hunters! Great job sharing them Tom!
Fantastic pair of folding hunter knives. I really love the old-timer knives
I am Liking my Frontier more and more. I give away a Frontier AA-51 w/ broken spring for parts. I have a Frontier AA-41 that shines like a new penny.
Great looking knives, love the look of the Frontier. Thanks for sharing Tom, be safe.
Very Nice 👍 Mr Tom!! You have inspired me to do a couple camp Knives!!! 🇺🇲🙏💯🔥🗡️
A couple of gorgeous knives. Did not know that Kabar makes or made folders. Very cool. I always think of them with the Marine fighting knife.
Nice looking knives!🔪👍
Gave away the KaBar as a birthday present. Made my hunting buddy happy!
Both are fantastic. i lean toward the 110 cause I have 10 now. The 112 is great and Ive got 4 Variants. Will be getting more. They are no slouch. The 110 in hand gives me the feeling that i can accomplish Absolutely anything. Even if it terrifies somebody when I pull it out.😂
Good knives
I had an old schrade that size with two blades i used hunting. While walking up an old dirt road, i bent down to mis a tree limb and there was that exact knife. I cleaned it and started using it.
y compare with the offshore Buck 389 Canoe? Are they the same price point? Is the Star Crest knife also made inder contract offshore? Asia or some other area? The shield falling off can happen to ANY brand that uses glued as opposed to pinned shields. One of my CASE and a vintage US made Schrade suffered the same. Big deal. A drop of super glue, and both still have their shields. One of my Rough Rider canoes (Twisted Bone series) left its shield in the box when I took the knife out of the box the first time. A drop of super glue fixed it. "inlays"???? 🤯😳🙄 ummm ... no ... a SHIELD is an inlay. What you are referring to as "inlays" are properly called "covers". Full tang non-folding knives, Swiss Army Knives, and "Modern" knives have "scales".
I just received a similar knife in the mail but mine doesn't come with the fancy packaging or a tang stamp but other than that it's the exact same knife I've been using it the last 3 days I need to put a better edge on it now that I've been using it but it is a fantastic knife for the price I love historical knives and the sheer fact this knife covers well over a hundred years of History is amazing
Gorgeous looking old-timer knife thank you very much for sharing with us
That knife has a lot of life left in it. Nice job on the clean up. I sent you a message on Instagram 😊
That’s a big, beautiful Old Timer! Old school cool! But I think you need a bigger Utrasonic! 👍🤣🤣 Happy Monday to you! Cheers, Dubya
You're right! I hit the limit with the ultrasonic! But, it did just fine. Thanks for watching, Dubya! I appreciate all of your support, my friend.
Absolutely enjoyed the show. Take care my friend.
Glad you enjoyed it, MA! Thanks for watching, my friend.
Thanks for the information, I have a few klien knives I always thought they were camillus made 😮be safe and GOD BLESS AMERICA 🇺🇸 🙏
You're welcome, Howard! I appreciate you watching, my friend.
Really nice knife Tom.. great job on the clean up. It looks really good 👍.. I was wondering why you didn’t dunk it into some rust remover for a few minutes just to be sure..Nonetheless a beauty
I didn't want to take the chance that the rust remover would mess with the patina. There was only very light surface rust, and I figured the mineral oil would help remove it. Good question, KA. Thanks for watching, my friend.
Really beautiful knife. The folding hunter pattern is one of my two favorite knife patterns along with the large stockman. Early folding hunters of the mid 1800s were of the swell center or coke bottle design (they didn't call it coke bottle back then.) In the early 20th century the pattern evolved into the shape of the knife you have in this video. They were made with one or two and in some very rare cases three blades. Most were standard slip joints but some had liner locks and later back locks as well. Although it is an iconic knife, the Buck 110 was not introduced until the mid 1960s. Most of the big knife companies manufactured folding hunters at one time or another and some still do. The Case 65 pattern folding hunter, which is their current model began production in the 1920's while their earlier 50 pattern swell center hunter dates back to the 1890's. I always enjoy your videos Sir, please keep them coming.
Thanks for the info. Looks like I got it backwards! I appreciate you sharing your knowledge, and for watching, my friend.
love to see you bring them back to life
Thanks, Kathleen. Its fun to do. I appreciate you watching, my friend.
You have a fine example of a great old pattern. My first "Buck knife" (we called every belt carried folder a "Buck knife") was the Uncle Henry Version of the 125OT, the 127UH. I wanted a 110 but back then 110s sold as fast as the store could get them in. At that time a belt carried folder was in high fashion - it seemed EVERYONE had one - so I bought the 127UH to fill in until I could find a 110. That traditional folding hunter pattern was familiar to me, a few guys in hunting camp (1960s) had them, if I recall correctly they were Case and/or Kabar. One stands out in my memory as its owner said it was his father's hunting knife from before WW2 , the tribute impressed me even way back then. Another memory from back then was the contentious fireside debates about stainless vs. carbon steel... some things never change. I think that kicked off when the first 110s started to show up at hunting camp in the mid 70s. Thanks for sharing a very cool knife and stirring up some memories.
I know what you mean about growing up and seeing all the pouch knives on guy's belts. I think that's one of the reasons I collect Bucks. I never could get one as a kid. Thanks for sharing your wonderful memories, Mo. God bless, my friend.
Nice collection of Klein knives, Tom. I had my hands on one of the hawkbills earlier this year. Well made knives. Have a great day!
They are well made and budget friendly. Thanks for watching, PEDC!
Great job with a really nice! Thanks for sharing!
You're welcome, David! I appreciate you watching, my friend.
It was a fun time hitting up the flea market with you that day!! That Folding Hunter did turn out great, i couldn't let it sit at that stand for what he was asking for it. December is going to be the last month for the market, they are shutting it down so i'm gonna have to find another honey hole!! Have a great week!!
Its too bad that they are closing for good. It will be hard to find such a great place, but good luck! Thanks again for this wonderful knife, Jerry.
Some great looking pieces right there! Thanks for sharing this Tom!
You're welcome, David! I appreciate you watching, my friend.
That’s a very cool piece! Nice cleanup, buddy!
Thanks, David. I appreciate you watching, my friend.
Very nice Old Timer and enjoyed watching the clean up. The folding hunter pattern dates back into the 1920's, so well before Buck made their lockback version starting in 1964. Case made this model during the CASE XX era 1920-40. It would more accurate to say the 110 evolved from the DNA of the older folding hunters. I appreciate your videos!
I wondered when Case came out with theirs. So yes, you'd be correct about Buck following Case. Thanks for the info, my friend.
Great clean up job on that old timer from Big J. I love watching your clean up restoration videos. Take care Tom. 👋
Glad you enjoyed it, RGB! With just a few simple steps, she cleaned up great. Thanks for watching, my friend.
Great Job on the Cleaning of the 125OT. It is Not a “Grail” but it is in the Top 5 . I have found several, but too far gone for me. Again great job.
Good luck in finding one, Whipples. Thanks for watching, my friend.
Great looking old Sharade, cleaned up nicely. Thanks for sharing Tom, be safe.
It didn't take much effort, and she cleaned up great! Thanks for watching, Seppiedog!
Hey Tom 👊🏼 Nice job, buddy I got my first USA made Scrade at Sharp Show in Coventry, UK - great knives! Hope you & your famuly are all well, ATB Gus 👍🏻
Hey Gus! Nice to see you, my friend. Congrats on getting yourself a Schrade! Thanks for dropping by, my friend.
A wonderful job Tom. It definitely brings me back. I had one as a kid and just recently found another one.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks, Radar! Its great that you found another one. Thanks for watching, my friend.
Mineral oil is the knife collectors best friend. 👍Nice job...
It sure is, Gizmo! Thanks for watching, my friend.
It looks a lot like my 118. I found mine in a parking lot, no sheath and covered in blood. Figured a fisherman dropped it. I used it many years working in produce. Never had a sheath, we carried them blade up in our back pocket. Never cut myself once. It hangs on a magnet next to my bed. Still no sheath. My bedside utility knife that I use every day. Going on 40 years now, one of my most used blades.
I feel a little ashamed. Mine was never shiny and I never polished it, but I was looking at it the the other day and I just got a cordless Dremel your giving me ideas.
That's a wonderful story, and it looks like you got a lot of use out of it! Thanks for sharing, and thanks for watching, my friend.
Have fun!
like the crkt
The CRKT has a wonderful handle to it. Thanks for your feedback Aubrey.
Sweet looking knives. Interesting history. You have a wonderful evening Tom.
Thanks, Jeff! I appreciate you watching, my friend.

Glad you enjoyed it, Jeremy! Thanks for riding along, my friend.
It’s up to you my friend, do with them as you please, thanks for your video!👌
You're welcome, Mike! I appreciate you chiming in. Thanks for watching.
Tom - I have been doing some research also on the Kleins. I believe the short blade on your different electrician's knife is so you can poke it at the end of a multi-wire cable and rip the cover up the length of it to expose all the individual wires. More than likely would be for communication low voltage cables - phone, computer, etc. The communication cables don't have the thick insulating covers that we traditionally think of electrical power cables so don't need the hawkbill blade to split the cover. Also, it seems that they change the tang stamps from M. Klein & Sons to Kleins Tools in the early to mid 1970s (maybe around 1972). However, like many knife manufacturers, carryover blades may show the M. Klein & sons with later tang letter stamp and a Klein Tool with an earlier letter stamp. I have a well-used fixed blade line splitting Klein Tool knife that has a model number of 44200 which is a current knife that can be purchased from Klein but doesn't have a date letter stamp. So, like you said, dating Klein tools is confusing. Thanks little brother for sharing with everyone.
Thanks for the info, Gary. Another commenter thought the same thing. I appreciate your research.
A wonderful collection Tom! Great gift knives from John and Jason. Thanks for the Klein Tools history. And that Tang Stamp dating email is about as clear as mud! 👍🤣🤣 Excellent video sir! Cheers, Dubya
Lol. I'm glad that I'm not the only one that can't follow their lettering system. Thanks for watching, Dubya!
Great looking knives.
