Hey guys, on the KLX 250s for this one. I cannot stress enough just how vital it is to your riding ability to go off-road. If you don't own one, buy a dirt bike, dual sport or adventure, and his the trails! It will enhance your on-road abilities. @xXRedEyedStrangerXx is the expert here. He's on a 2016 KTM 250 XC-W 2-stroke. Thing barks.

Hey guys, for those of you who want the quick answer: It is underpowered for my liking. I am ready to get more power under me and go. The Yamaha Bolt is an amazing bike, but it was never my forever bike.

I have an SCR950, and it is easily fast enough. The 59 ft/lb of torque peaks at 3,000 rpm. In other words, you're always on it. If you don't know what an SCR950 is google it.
What bars you running ?
@@ronnelvila5284 They’re called “reverse bend tall taco T bar” from Zombie Performance. They’re pretty sweet. I got 10”

@@ronnelvila5284 yes I did. I have a video going over everything but it was the Baron extended kit. Electronics were fine tho. These bars aren’t too expensive so with extended cables it comes to around $450 for everything
We 'lane split' in the UK. We have much narrower roads than you guys do, and we now have big fat American cars on our roads. Lane splitting is not a problem if you are sensible and courteous to other road users.

Is it ok for the engine to remove it? Would I need to tune my bolt?
@@Mc_Rc it’s “ok” but not for a while. Could burn a valve, and you lose a lot of power. Even with a tune that’s super rich. You need back pressure (baffle)

Honda rebel 1100 is the style bike you like. It has 20 more horsepower and torque and i think it lools better.

I love the sound of your exhaust -- just the right amount of burbling and popping.
Just put the packing back into the baffle. I wasn't too sure about it but I am glad you like it.

How does the bolt do at higher speeds, like 80-95? Planning to pick one of these up, but I take the toll rode a lot here in Texas and the speed limit is 80-85mph
@@Darren248 it handles it just fine, imo. However, the rpms at 80-90mph are a little higher than I’d like. Does just fine tho. Good luck and ride safe brother

I own an MT09SP, it weighs about 420 lbs, I see the FTR weighs 514 lbs. Have you looked at a Triumph 765 Street Triple R or RS? Kawasaki Z900? When I consider the supersports, the cost of insurance is a huge factor in the decision process.

Hey Skip. For mufflers and your heat shields, Use "Stove Paint" .... The same paint that's used on wood burning stoves. It's a Matt finish and creates no VOC's when it gets hot...... I'm thinking that the gloss stuff you used is going to blister eventually, ..... Nuff said. Ciao.

Look into the new Indian Scouts
They've always intrigued me. The new sport scout is more my speed. Idk if you saw, but they're making a limited sportier scout with RSD. Coming out soon
@@SkipRides You mean the Forged series? That's about 3 people (brands) that make a special version of the scout. Indian did that also when the Sport Chief was released.

Front brake single rotor 2 piston, rear single rotor single piston, ( aka typical 70 F : 30 R brake setting %'s ). At 5252 rpm HP = Torque... So at say 5780 rpm, you are now pulling 65 ponies. Top end 4th gear is 90 mph.... so a typical fast merge into traffic works best if you run up to 70 in fourth and then go to fifth..... I digress. Stay Safe
1, 2 piston front and 1, 1 piston rear is adequate (barely) for riding around but anything after that it’s just dangerous. However, it definitely doesn’t reach 65hp. At most this bike has 62. I’m not looking for the top end to be @90, but rather I just want some breathing room up there. Love this bike and it has some power but I’d say at least 40% of motorcycles have more power and I’d like to join that population.

Go for the mt09, I upgraded to a xsr900 (which is the same as an mt09 in a different trim) after owning a bolt as my fist road bike. It's excellent. The great torque lets you keep up with much "faster" bikes untill you're going way faster than you should be anyways.

you try modding it brotha? I wonder how much HP boost there is with an emissions delete + opening up the airbox and exhausts and remapping the ECU? For your next bike i HIGHLY recommend a supermoto. THE absolute most fun you can have on a bike and theyre soooo easy to control with your body. I have a husky 701 supermoto and its 2.7 0-60 with my mods. wheelies up to 60mph :D and goes offroad = cruises down the highway at 85-90 all day with power to spare up to 130

I have it fully tuned with super map. Air intake and exhaust. Ecu reflash and tune
@@SkipRides oh wow nice bro sounds like you had fun with it! Love it! Yeah definitely time for an upgrade then xD should help it sell y too and I run Michelin Anakee Adventures on it. The perfect tire if you do 50% on road and 50% off road. They feel almost like racing slicks on the road with how much they grip, and they can handle almost everything off road as well as a knobby aside from wet grass and mud (but they're surprisingly stable on both)

Hey Skip, just an FYI for anyone on a Bolt like what Buddy had going at @0.18 with the start up of his HD..... turn the key on and off 4 or 5 times in rapid succession, then switch the key to on and it'll start up on first crank. And give it a good shot of WD40 for 5 seconds or better when you have a chance to clean the key cylinder out..... Apparently rain water ingress and then a "not so clean key" will make the ignition contact pins not energize the ECU module to get the spark happening at the plugs. Stay Safe

@@SkipRides A fellow Bolt rider that was at the local Timmies near here last year had done that actually. I just forget if it was 1-1/2" diameter bit that he used to take out the inner baffle-liner .... Anywho, it's Loud AF and definitely makes the neighbor-haters sound tame although the note from that stock pipe was about a half octave lower too.
@@Yamahog interesting find. My buddy suggested I repack my baffle when I put it back in to give it a lower note. I will say however, no baffle Baron Slip On is really deep

@@eighteen3394 Honestly, they were kind of a hassle to get on. They have those expanding metal pieces, but I ended up throwing some locktite on the ends, and that finally sealed them down.

I haven’t done anything to the tires personally since I just bought the bike. However, I know it has inner tubes. Dual sport and off road typically so. Lower PSI is better for rocks and rough terrain and second wall of protection as well.

Hi, do you hear engine ticking when riding? With stock exhaust I can hear ticking on mine when riding until the wind gets too loud. No ticking when idling.
Hey, yea I hear it often. I believe it’s just a normal thing and I ignore it the best I can. Definitely not alone tho
Its probably just valve noises you hear, at idle they are slower making it easier to hear kinda like a car idling. No pro but used to a mechanic and my best thought is that.
