Don't Strip Birch Bark!

Ontario Knife Company folder knife overview
I enjoy sharpening my hunting knives it's my therapy
My clamorous 749 in plutonium quad 6 steel is the absolute sharp thing.
This is a budget version of a modern French trade knife. ESEE 6HM, Battle-Horse-Knives Highlander, AT Rifleman are all similar in profile and purpose.
You got the canoe held down good, it can't go up. Side to side movement is controlled well. Problem is, not much is preventing the boat from moving forward, as it will want to do in a high speed panic stop situation. Give it a strong shove from the back to see if it wants to move. I would suggest a rope/strap from the front of the boat straight to the middle of the rack, or all the way over the roof down to where you tied off the in the rear. It's easy to make a canoe nice and secure for driving around, but having it stay put when locking up the brakes is another story.
Thank you for the review
Best review I have seen about the Luggable Loo. Very good advice., especially about using kitchen garbage bags and the liquid holding tank stuff. Just yesterday I checked Amazon about the Luggable Loo and the smallest unit was on discount, The Five Gallon? We are hearing so much about survival products and I would want a POTTY!
You missed the most important step. Once it’s strapped in you have to smack canoe a couple of times and say that ain’t going anywhere.
I know this video was several years old but it has to be one of the best presented knife reviews on all of UA-cam and I have seen hundreds if not thousands of them kudos to you for a great job
Why don't you have amazon affiliates links to the knives you're reviewing? Leaving lots of money on the table here!
Tbh it’s nice seeing someone order a SON sword without making it rainbow colored.
can you please provide any info about wattage? I consider one for buying
Thank you for the history lesson.
Its a good knife that has gone up in price too much. A good skinner but the 420J2 steel isn't as easy to sharpen as 420HC.
Thanks for doing a video on this. Type one for 54 years and I hike so I understand what you are talking about and the precautions you take. In the winter time I put my meter in my pocket with a hand warmer to keep it out of the 14° weather. So far it’s worked great but only lasts 8 hours.
What are the straps you used called?
Awesome review - been looking for an electric sharpener for weeks and this video finally has me sold! $35 just 5 years ago - now it's $70. Thanks Janet Yellen 🙄
Non lo vidi che non taglia
Great tips! I did not know about the front and back straps. Will look into it. You were trying to get the straps going over the canoe not twisted but don't they have to be twisted? When we first strapped our canoe we had the straps not twisted and we had so much noise in the car that we cold not talk. Extremely annoying. Fortunately Swift was on our way so we stoped to ask them for advice and they said that the straps had to be twisted. It worked!
I bought this Buck knife for camping. Love it. Its great that it has a belt clip also.
Give a man a strap, feed him for a day. Teach a man knots, feed him for his life.
Great honest review and you will save me a ton of money on not buying those expensive black bags....and you made me laugh....so you earned my subscription!
It’s a 3 stage sharpening he skipped the first part and he needs to change it to thin settings for those knifes
Thank you!!!!!!!
same lock issue (
Does anyone have any thoughts about Lug Loo's versus cassette toilets versus emptying black tanks? I'm considering a small camper but really don't wanna spend anytime in line at the dump station. I solo camp (Well, with corgi) so capacity isn't first or foremost. Should a small camper have a cassette toilet? Thanks!
Why were you always skipping the first stage?
When soldiers/marines do "hand to hand" combat with their weapons (bayonet attached), It's all about...This may be you last stand! So...they teach various methods of..."You first Mother F'er" with whats left (ammo gone). Get it?...Good! I just put one on my wifes AR and she won't be in the corner...You will! Have a nice day :)
what about the slot on the left??
I own a 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan with a naked roof. I've been pulling my hair out trying to find a rack that will work on it. Could you please tell me what Yakima towers and clips you are using? Thanks.
I’m a professional crapper, been doing it my entire 73 years all over the USA . Here’s my method. Snap the seat on the empty bucket and don’t remove it. Get some small office size cheep plastic bags , make sure they reach to the bottom with 4” to 6” extra. Now peel off 6 or so bags and drop into the empty bucket with lid attached. Take one bag and slide into the bucket, let the extra overlap the seat and extend a way down the outside. Use a small bit if kitty litter if you want, or you can even drop in some lightly used paper towels to absorb. So now the plastic bag covers the inside, the seat, and extra outside. Do your business, use TP, or baby wipes, or a combination, baby wipes a a good touch as we often don’t shower as much while camping and the help keep some tush freshness. When finished just pull up the bag opening, remove as much air as you can, and tie a tight knot , bag can now be removed, disposed of or placed in another bucket with a screw on lid for future disposal. Try to limit the amount of liquid going into the bag, but you’ll work that out. Double bag if needed. The bag being placed over the seal acts like an ass gasket and keeps the seat clean, ready for next user and no clean up. Extra bags in the bottom are ready for next in line. When traveling, bags, TP, baby wipes, kitty litter can all just ride inside of the bucket, everything clean, handy, and ready to go when you’re ready to go. I just make it a single use bag and no liquid to slouch around, spill, overturn, or weigh down the bag. Added bonus you don’t have to use your precious water. Instead of kitty litter try some wood chips, pellets, or hamster bedding from Tractor Supply.. Side note - don’t try the free doggie pooper bags at the park, they are way too small. Have respect for others when you dispose of the used bags, no one wants to be in contact with your 💩.
I've seen this comment somewhere before?!🤔🤔🤔
Crushed up charcoal brickett's kill odor better than anything else.
14 foot canoe would not go on that well?
slip your fingernail under the clip as you mount it on your pocket.
I need one!!!!
That's a top video - great instructions. We'll presented without beating about the Bush. Many of us older folk can't squat - this is perfect. Just 2 suggestions - you could put the bag liner on the outside of the toilet seat so the seat is covered - then don't have to clean the seat and keeps it clean. Could use horse pellets to cover the first use and drop in some pot pouri - saves emptying each time.
Did somebody know how much is that now?
My only complaint about this knife is I would like a bigger blade. Not sure how durable the non-metal thumb stud is for long term use.
Great review, great video. I hope you get more views ASAP.👍🏼
The top grip on blade and handle ive run à tiny triangular file across to make them worth it. ive loosened the screw to open a little better but it didn't help much to open the blade was notched by cutting a thick piece of cardboard at work
do we get it in nepal?
I agree it's a chore. Every knife I've got is dull as ~hit because I refuse. There's no perfect solution. Tungstens wear down, lapping is such a bore, rods are mediocre... Maybe this grinder is the ticket. No Wagner for 135.00 for me, baby. I'm just concerned about getting a razor edge. Sounds pretty powerful. Maybe this followed by a quick ceramic. Probably not. Just forget it! Where's replaceable razor blade knives!!
so i can use the bags more than once?
jel powder available on amazn
Boy ohhhh boy....you slaughtered the names of the pieces, such as calling the seppa the habaki and the habaki the seppa. The Bohi...blood groove as you called it, was NOT a "Blood Groove" and it DID NOT make the blood flow, the body creats a suction, wich suctions and seals even the "Blood Grove", thus STOPPING THE BLEADING and making it difficult to withdraw the blade, the "Blood Groove" doesn't even help withdraw the blade. The Bohi is actually just a fuller. It is NOT "Historical fact that is what the blood groove was for"...thats myth. HERE IS THE FACT.....Weight Reduction - the main reason for a bo-hi is to reduce the weight of the blade. For example, a Japanese katana with a bo-hi weighs 20-35% lighter than a blade with a no-hi. In battle, this reduced weight increased flexibility and movement with the blade, making for easier and faster strikes on the enemy. www.kultofathena.com/japanese-blades-bo-hi-or-no-hi/#:~:text=Weight%20Reduction%20%E2%80%93%20the%20main%20reason,faster%20strikes%20on%20the%20enemy ...... What Is A Blood Groove? The blood groove is a channel down the length of the sword, which can be seen on both European and Asian swords. Double blood grooves for twice the blood. It is a common misconception that this is designed to allow blood to flow out of a wound, preventing a sword from getting stuck.... swordstem.com/2022/04/01/the-truth-of-the-blood-groove/#:~:text=What%20Is%20A%20Blood%20Groove,a%20sword%20from%20getting%20stuck ... The "Blood groove is just a "Fuller" in blacksmithing terms. A fuller is a rounded or beveled longitudinal groove or slot along the flat side of a blade (e.g., a sword, knife, or bayonet) that serves to both lighten and stiffen the blade. It is made using a blacksmithing tool called a fuller, a form of a spring swage, or impressed during forging. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuller_(groove)#:~:text=A%20fuller%20is%20a%20rounded,swage%2C%20or%20impressed%20during%20forging. The hamon is created from the process of differentially hardening the blade with clay, the shinier cutting edge below the hamon line is made of martensite crystaline structure, the softer upper is pealite, the quenching creates a literally different grainstructure and hardness where the clay was thicker....that difference, and the differing materials based on mineral and carbon content, make some parts brighter, and others duller. Sharpening has NOTHING to do with the Hamon....but quenching, a chemical etch and polishing has EVERYTHING to do with the hamon. There is so much to correct in this review, I am only covering the BLANTLY MISSINFORMED parts. PLEASE DO NOT DO REVIEWS AS AN EDUCATED PERSON TRYING TO EDUCATE OTHERS WHEN YOU ARE SO PAINFULLY IGNORANT OF WHAT YOU ARE REVIEWING
This guy is a blacksmithing guru for katana, explains Hamon perfectly ua-cam.com/video/bwQtXVM-rqY/v-deo.html
The instructions say to alternate sides, with a total of three passes per side.
I just got one of these. It works fairly well, especially compared to my (admittedly lower end) Chef's Choice sharpener. I do most of my cutting with a (Japanese?) cleaver and the thick setting is really useful. I also like the fact that one can actually _see_ the rotating stones, so you know which slot to place serrated knives in.
Still $10 at CTire in 2022 on sale
I just got this knife at Canadian tire in Ontario Canada...$14 on sale for that price it's a great edc.
This Buck Kingsman is great. It’s my daily carry, does what I ask of it and I don’t need to worry should I lose or badly damage it. It is great value. 420J2 steel. Listed normally at $49 but it comes up a couple of times a year at Canadian Tire. It’s currently $10.99 Cdn for the next week or so. I usually buy several at a time as they make great, timeless and appreciated gifts for friends and family. I give them for “milestone” birthdays.
Agreed. I too buy a couple at cdn tire when they're on sale...gifted on to my daughter. Great little knife.
420J2 isn't as good as 420HC which is a good budget metal used by Buck.
I’m going to try using saw dust, I have an endless supply, for the liquid absorption or that powder stuff you use on liquid spills in grocery stores and a good cheap trash bag. Wow that was a run on sentence. Nice informative video. Thanks
