This is a budget version of a modern French trade knife. ESEE 6HM, Battle-Horse-Knives Highlander, AT Rifleman are all similar in profile and purpose.

For a real "hard use" knife, the Rockwell hardness is ideal. I'd rather the edge roll than chip and easily sharpened by a simple kitchen stone or river rock when when trekking.

Indeed - rolling is better than chipping - easier to recover from and ultimately will receive more usage over time.

Agree. Hardness is overrated. Rather a strong steel than a glass edge.

I literally bought one of these as a camp knife to hand to non-knife people. My wife and kids can use it as they need, and I don't have to freak if they use it roughly.

I really want to like OKC. I appreciate the history behind the company, but I have been disappointed by some of their offerings, and I feel like they aren't listening to customers or doing a good job of assessing the current market. I would love to get behind them, but I need a good reason at this point.
