6 Things About Netflix's Resident Evil Series That Weren't Complete Dog Ass
Look, it's bad. It's very, very bad. But was every single frame of it bad? No.
Even the worst movies, video games, and TV shows have at least something enjoyable about them. This is my attempt to find those things in the 2022 Netflix Resident Evil series.

Alan Wake 2 References In The Alan Wake Remaster
Переглядів 179Рік тому
It wasn't until I was halfway through making this video that I found out that other people have already discovered this, but here we are. Alan Wake is a game that's very near and dear to my heart. Even replaying it now, for like the 4th or 5th time, I still get scared, I still get excited, I still get moved by the music, emotion, and characters. It's one of those games where you can just feel t...
this video is total cope, the game fucking sucks
Honestly, even the most crap game nowadays is pretty decent, I feel the same about the recent Assassin's Creed games, I think the problem is more the value proposition, where the consumer feels like there is less polish in gameplay and dialogue, things that feel like they havent been considered and iterated enough juat to get the product out of the door. Not every game needs to be rdr2 detail and polish-wise of course but there is a happy medium to be found, otherwise the feeling of escapism gets lost and it will aways feel like a game. I think ghost of tsushima vs AC mirage is a good comparison, in ghost there is a strong direction to it all, yoi feel transported to that world and the wight of ckmbat and exploration make you feel like you are there, in AC mirage, althoigh the stealth mechanics and world are really well made, the actions and animations of yoour character feel fake, theres no weight, things dont connect correctly and the suspension of disbelief is lost. I dont think Star wars was bad but it definitely deserves the criticism it gets, it has a great world and art direction, but the combat and the day to day actions and animations like combat, walking, stealth dont quite feel realistic enough to fool the brain, giving it that gamey feeling, the heavy messaging is modern games also does not help simply because when you preach to people it takes then out of the experience, it does not make the game bad per se, but it does not live up to ita price in a industry that has those great examples of escapism, a game will always be judged by how people perceive its value and star wars just aint there dude, when it goes down to like 30-40 dolars I think its gonna be a steal of a game. The lesson for Ubi here is to let the devs cook more, and give their producers more power to get rheir vision out there while helpling then massage their messaging better in the narrative (look at metaphor:Refantazio for a good example of how to talk about a real life issue without preaching to the audience). The suits at Ubi need to be leashed so that the devs can do what they do best.
I agree with everything you said except the messaging. I haven't noticed anything like that in Outlaws, but by my estimation I'm only about halfway through the story, so that might change. Honestly I'd love it if studios kind of went back to the PSX/PS2 era, where now and again they'd form a small team, give them a decent budget, and let them explore the more out-there concepts; not intending to please the biggest demographic possible.
I still imagine what star wars 1313 could have been like. That promising game died for this.
That game looked amazing, but if I remember correctly it died just as Disney bought Lucasfilm, right?
@@shadowmitchmovies exactly, it was in development during that exact time.
Isn't this game $70? Or like, $495 Aussie Dong? I just don't understand people gleefully accepting unfinished products for top-shelf prices. That's just silly.
I don't remember what I paid but I'm pretty sure it was like, full AAA retail. Neither dude, but that seems to be commonly accepted practice in the industry, unfortunately. Even things like day one patches shouldn't really be necessary. I'm loving the game, but unless it's a safe bet, I'd recommend people wait until it's super cheap!
my issue is the games called star wars outlaws yet you cant actually well, be a outlaw. i mean you can take jobs from crime family's afaik but cant really do anything illegal outside of the few things that aren't common and not encouraged
That's a good point. I feel like if you had the same freedom as say, Red Dead Redemption 2, it might potentially stray too far from the story/Kay's established character. Could have been cool if it had a bit more of a Thief angle to it too.
Genuinely like it a bunch as well, for the athmosphere and casual gameplay, and I'm excited for the story DLC dropping in a few days :)
It'll be a while before I get to the DLC, but it looks real good!
Hey man I appreciate that you posted your opinion which is definitely in the minority It’s a dogshit opinion but I appreciate you posted it 😂 With these Disney SW projects that fall flat I’m voting with my wallet until things change I’ll stick with the bangers that already exist over a lot of these newer releases that in many ways do not hit the mark in many areas for me and most of the fan base The Jedi fallen order/survivor games are good though I will agree on that point 😊
I like your attitude man. Voting with your wallet is the right move, for both good and bad projects. I can definitely see why people are disillusioned with Disney SW. For me, TFA, Rogue One, and Solo were rad, but TLJ and TROS were awful. TROS was unforgivably bad. I still can't believe how badly they dropped the ball on that one. While I definitely think they're not all of the same standard, I really like all the live action Disney+ shows. The first two seasons of Mando in particular are up there with the best of the movies for me.
@ I see that we agree on more than I originally thought I think TFA while being a little safe abs not particularly adventurous with its plot line definitely set up for an interesting trilogy Which Disney then decided to swap directors which then took the next movie in an entirely different direction and then for the third movie swapped back to the original director which then had to waste the last movie trying to pull its self narrative wise “ back on course “ Along the way there were many inconsistencies re established lore Wasted characters and far too much gag humour Still mad we didn’t get a proper story for Finn Just got used well once and then promptly forgotten about for the other two movies
@@corditesniffer8020 Man I agree with literally everything you said. TFA isn't perfect, but there's a lot about it that I like, and when I first saw it, I was very hopeful for the rest of the trilogy. Then Rian Johnson rubbed his dick all over it, in what I can only describe as a massive ego trip. The analogy I use is music. Imagine the beginning of a song. Cool intro, first verse, first chorus. It's all building up in one direction. Then someone starts playing a completely different song midway through. Then finally, trying to bring it back to that first song again, while keeping elements of the second in the last chorus and outro. There's momentum and an overarching story to a trilogy, and Rian Johnson had a responsibility to the big picture to steward the story through the second act. It was a privilege to be able to create a mainline Star Wars movie, and he treated it like a chore.
@ And it certainly shows We got a grumpy old hermit Luke Skywalker Finn who was turned into a token black character Ray who was turned in the bestest ever Jedi Evers despite no hardship or training to earn it Kylo the moody teenager And the invincible Palpatine who somehow returns 😂 absolute tripe
@@corditesniffer8020 like the prequels, the biggest heartbreak is the wasted potential. I loved Rey when we were first introduced to her. This talented scavenger scraping out this miserable existence on a backwater world. Finn, the turncoat stormtrooper who understands just how ruthless the First Order really is, and who may or may not be force sensitive. Kylo, a traumatised kid manipulated by an evil power, and aspiring to an unreachable ideal set by his grandfather. What could have been...
The fact that she knocks out dudes in a full suit of armor with her fists.
Han Solo would like a word.
Im not watching the vid but does he say JK in the beginnning and start mega shitting all over this dumpster fire of a game
Watch it and find out!
This shows gives the Andersonverse and WTRC a run for their money.
I actually really like WTRC hahaha
Cool idea!
Cheers mate! I've got a couple more videos in a similar vein. Looking at cool things in movies I otherwise really didn't like.
wrong
Yeah that seems to be the consensus hahaha
Very wrong
I just bought it, not bad.
Glad you're having fun. I'm a little over 40 hours in now and I'm still loving it!
dogshit.
Is that runescape music
It's from the SNES Jurassic Park game. Good game, great soundtrack!
It a risky slaps though? So good 😊
Never thought I'd find another Disney SW apologist like me.
I don't like all of it, but a lot of it is great. It cops an unnecessary amount of shit, probably because videos like "Disney SJWs Ruin Star Wars!!!1" seem to get a ton of views haha
I see what you did there.
I feel like it went over a lot of people's heads, which is fair hahaha
You got 100 subs
I did! Thanks mate! I did notice, but I am planning to talk about it as part of a bigger announcement on my main channel. I've been super busy so both channels have suffered this year unfortunately!
I have a question to ask and hopefully we can come up with fruitful suggestions, how do you fix the issues surrounding firearm wielding j'avos to better fit with the horror feels WITHOUT removing their use of firearms? How do you define horror really? Does it need to have dehumanizing aspects to be such? A very tough question indeed but its worth to discuss about haha
I think the look of the j'avos goes a long way towards making them scary. A remake could take it a step further and make them really unnerving, particularly the multiple eyes on the head, and the way their bodies change after physical trauma. As for the weapons, it doesn't really bother me that they have them, but for several reasons, I think it'd be better if they weren't so good with them. Their minds would be gone and a lot of it would be muscle memory. That could have an uncanny valley sort of ugliness to it!
@@shadowmitchmovies What about the idea that J'avos can do suppresive fire instead of only shooting at the player ? Meaning that they would shoot their firearms at any area where they think the player would go to in order to either take cover or flee from the encounter? Because for me, the horror of them using firearms is that they do not need to get close to you to attack in comparison to melee enemies where they actually need to get close. The difference here is that i had discussed with someone on UA-cam and they said melee enemies gave you time to think of the horror they do while fire wielding enemies will just simply shoot at you before you even notice their presence or know the time of their attack, think of it like a jumpscare - its sudden and loud occurences for a short time is rather reactionary instead of forcing the player to think just how helpless they really are. Going back to my idea about suppresive fire, let me give an example. You play as Chris Redfield who is low on resources ( both healing item and ammos ) and then he sees a door to left at the end of this room that leads to another room but not without alerting 3 J'avos wielding weapons, your expectation could be that they will all shoot at you. But instead of that, 2 will do suppresive fire. One J'avo will fire at the door and then slowly draws its shot at Chris while the other one will shoot at the ground closing in to the player and then finally the only one that will intend to shoot at the player is one J'avo. But this kind of attack NEEDS to have noticeable patterns to help players predict what the gunwielding J'avos would do. About their appearance, this will be a hot take but take some inspiration from the crestures in Callisto Protocol where most of them have additional limbs, eyes or whatever kind of noticeable body parts that grew on their body. For example, J'avo's right hand could have 2 more additonal fingers with an appendage that resembles a small hand erupting from its elbow. I would say it is fitting if you see this kind of things as a metaphor on just how many types of mutation can they turn into, its a lot. I do still have some point to add though.
Sorry dude, I didn't get a notification so I'm only just seeing this! I really like that idea, and how it could be used in a future game. I also totally agree with the melee/gun comparison. A man walking towards you with a knife fills you with a totally different fear than a sudden burst of gunfire does. I haven't played Callisto Protocol, but while it copped a bit of shit when it released, one of my friends said it was actually pretty good. I like how that idea could apply to RE6!
Anyone know why they let so many people leave on a boat right when an hurricane was about to hit the island? I mean in world that should ahve been a massive mistake to make.
The craziest part is that they can actually put more than just one character because in the movie we know who we saw in the movie but we do not know how many workers, tourists & scientists were in that island at the time & the outbreak
The sky's the limit, really. We know they were running a skeleton crew at the time, but I don't think we were ever given a hard number. They can create as many characters for the game as they want.
Well they did the same thing with Captain Rex from Star wars the clone wars as there is an extra as a soldier in Return of the Jedi, the soldier is an old man and when they started making these shows they made it where Rex became this older soldier in ROTJ so they can do the same with Dr Maya it's not uncommon in fictional stories to and a new character to older media
Whoa! I had no idea about that. That's incredible!
The hair looks like a dead match. I think you're right that the devs picked out a background extra and used her as the basis for their character.
The hair was the thing that did it for me. It's not a super common cut. Still a long shot, but I'll be so stoked if it turns out to be true.
RE5 had no shift from horror to action as RE4 is an action horde shooter. RE4r does better as it has a darker tone but still it is an action shooter. CV is also the next remake and RE5r won't happen the next 4-5 years
The big shift was RE4, agreed, but 5 went even harder on the action. RE4 still had some good scares at times.
@@shadowmitchmovies RE5 was indeed even more action but only slightly. it's like RE4 added 300% action to the genre since CV and RE5 put 20% on top
Love the idea that they borrowed features from someone in that scene and I sincerely hope they did. It's worth mentioning that in the scene you're potentially pointing to two different people. She would be all the way on the right in the 2nd cut and blocked by the tour wall. The person in the back room at the top of the stairs on the left side is a different person unless they restaged and moved the same actor, which is entirely possible. Everyone else seems to be in place during that cut though, including Wu. Having said that, it does look they are borrowing Joshi's hairstyle at the very least. It's going to be a fun game and it's fun to speculate. Great video!!!
Yeah continuity was fine, but I just assumed it was the same person. One way of looking at it is there are two potential people that she could be. Whether Maya's any of them or not, it looks to be a great game, and I'm so keen for it! Appreciate it mate!
@@shadowmitchmovies It would be amazing if they did a scene in the beginning of the game where she's doing something in the lab while Hammond, Grant and the others are watching the baby raptor hatching but in the distance, maybe slightly blurred or obscured, perhaps using the audio from their conversation. Just so we know that Joshi was there the whole time and, of course, set up the character. I think it would connect to the film on a much greater level. Again, great video, very well done and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it as a huge JP geek.
@@bradpattinian4875 I'll now be super disappointed if they DON'T do that.
@@bradpattinian4875 honestly I wouldn't be surprised if that's what happens. I'm not gonna bet money on it, but yeah, I feel like it's possible. Thanks again :)
Oh an RE6 Remake is DEFO in the cards but probably not for another 5+ years. They will defo change a lot of it whilst keeping at least somewhat faithful to the original. It's the game most in need of a remake behind Code Veronica!
Agreed. Apparently CV is the next one to be remade as well!
They need to skip 5-6. And give us RE1 and code Veronica and outbreak
Respectfully disagree, though I definitely think RE1 and CV should get remade.
@@shadowmitchmovies 5 and 5 was dog tho bro
Nah man. They have their problems but they're heaps of fun, especially co-op!
@@shadowmitchmovies even 6? Yeah 5 online was ok but everyone kept spamming the voice commands and drove me crazy
@@TransitionedToAShark I never played online, just split screen co-op, and 5 was an absolute blast. Been replaying it with a mate and it's heaps of fun. It obviously doesn't hold a candle to old school RE, but it's not trying to do what they did. It has a real arcade feel at times. I fucking despised 6 my first time around. Replayed it last year, and was pleasantly surprised. Story is still fucking bonkers, but visually, it's amazing, and the gameplay is way better than I remember.
Sounds like you grew some brain cells between your first and most recent playthroughs. Shame a lot of people didn’t and still don’t get this game. Dunno about a remake though, the story is kinda irrelevant to the larger lore and a bit too convoluted. Leon’s campaign definitely isn’t the best, it could be the worst tbh. Best just leave this game in the past, as much as I enjoy it.
Or lost some. I completely get your point for leaving it in the past, but I feel like there's so much potential for an amazing game in there, that I'd like to see them have another shot at it.
re village way too easy.
I don't know what's wrong with me, but I struggled big time with Village. Barely scraped through. I don't think I died once, but I was always running out of ammo.
I still don't understand, how RE 6 is considered the worst, when VIIllage exists
THANK YOU. I know 6 has its problems, but Village just takes a giant dump on the canon. It's like a parody of RE.
No she's not from the original movie.
Probably not.
Oh wow, what a change from the 'forcing wokeness' comments I've been seeing! As we can see in the original movie, there were scientists of all different ethnicities in the lab. It makes perfect sense that a British Indian scientist would be working for InGen given that it was a British owned company, and had hired people like Muldoon, who was English, to work for them. So it's not a stretch that a British Indian (the biggest 'immigrant' group in the UK) would be part of the company too.
It's also not a big deal. People crying "woke" at every little thing are manchildren with too much time on their hands. If the game/story is good, who gives a shit about a character's gender/ethnicity?
@@shadowmitchmovies It's so annoying. And their criticism makes no sense. The lead in Jurassic Park: Trespasser, which came out in the 90s, was female! Nobody gave a shit about that back then. Plus, Jurassic Park had two female lead characters who were given equal status as the males. Lex pretty much saves the day with her tech knowledge. The 90s had female characters in games and in movies. If Jurassic Park can have a Chinese American scientist, why couldn't there have been a British Indian scientist?
Just don't give 'em any attention. UA-camrs like that thrive on it, and it spreads like mold. Makes the world a worse place.
@@leopardprints Not to mention Dr. Ian Malcom having a Black adopted daughter in The Lost World.
Problem is now people are skeptical any time they see a female or someone of poc. It shouldn’t matter but the issue is many modern writers stop there and do not make good characters and think virtue signaling is all that’s important. If this was 10+ years ago no one would complain because no one would have to be worried about such writers.
Appreciate the short and sweet video. If you ask me the protagonist looks like Mia Khalifa.
I'm hearing that a lot and I personally don't see it. Maybe the glasses?
Hahha no its perfect, period
Re6 is the only one I actually want remade, because that’s only one I think doesn’t reach its full potential
Exactly! It needs its redemption!
From the look of it most likely 2026 or 2027
Agreed. More than happy to wait if it's as good as the other remakes though!
not happening the next 4-5 years
They can remake and it and literally fix it
It's such a hard thing to dial in, but I have faith they can do it.
Open world, 6player pve/co-op, with instance boss fights(I think that's the word I wanna use), and party options for side quests/exploration. That way, you could have your detailed city, and still run Into the other players.
This could actually be amazing. If you've got 4-6 human players, you could totally ramp up the size/length/difficulty of the boss fights too, to make it a decent challenge!
A RE6 remake should never ...ever be talked about
It should. It needs its redemption!
I kind of disagree, I feel like they should try to compact it into more of a rich and full experience that isnt so repetitive and pointless. Get rid of stupid characters like piers and helena. Maybe join chatacters' stories instead. Like add sherri to leons campaign then we are playing as leon and sherri reunited and thatd be cool on its own. So ustanak and all that could be added to leons story more as a focus too but done better. Make the whole game a more tense and horror focused game. Jake could be just part of the story we dont need him to be a main playable character. He could even play a semi villainous role maybe we even fight him in hand to hand combat with chris.thatd be neat I think. And to replace helena they could throw claire into the game, completely re write the story or even Jill and they could be there to brung chris back from his alcoholism. That makes more sense to me like where tf are they and whos piers he doesnt even know chris so one of his last partners or even his sister coming to rescue him and bring him back to the bsaa would be waay better and make sense. Throw barry in a few cut scenes too. Make this the big resident evil character reunion everybody wants. Could even throw in hunk begind the scenes working in the shadows alongside ada setting up for sequels to expand on thoee characters. I dunno re 6 is fun but its also awful haha Edit: spelling
These are all awesome ideas. My biggest issue with cutting it down is it's hard to do it neatly, and a lot of the good ideas the original RE6 had would benefit from more time, so even if they cut a bunch out, it might still end up being quite a long game. It's a hard game to defend, but I love it for what it is.
Thank you! I enjoyed Re Village but it does not feel like a main line Re Game, it plays like a game that was initially created to be one but later became its own IP, Devil May cry for instance
I believe it started as Revelations 3, which feels more appropriate, but even then, it's still just too silly for RE...
RE4, 5, 6 & 8 aren't RE games at all
Maya or mia we all know She's Based on Mia Khalifa. changing her name to Maya won't Stop me Buying this game for Mia Khalifa!
They need to dive into the unseen dinosaurs present but not seen in the first movie!!!!
Hopefully we get some of that. They might mine the original novel for ideas too!
They might I'm glad the T rex is back though been forever since we seen her in a game this does look good. We need more survival games like this.
Nope, if they cut a story in two and make the Leon part DLC, I would never buy any of it. Im not waiting 2-3 years just to finish a Story I already know and turning Tall oaks, an important plot point, into DLC would make absolutley zero sense. People would be pissed and the game(s) would fail harder than Operation Raccoon City
I wouldn't wanna wait 2-3 years, either, but the wait between RE4make and Separate Ways was reasonable, I thought. My issue with Tall Oaks was that so much of it felt like being strung along. "Let's just get to the church then I'll explain everything". Cool, we're at the church. "Let's just figure out how to get into the catacombs then I'll explain everything." I loved the university, I loved the city, I even enjoyed the subway, but everything post-bus crash was a bit draining, and the zombies coming out of the ground was goofy as fuck, even by RE standards. Cut that out, and it gives us more time for Leon in China. Even if the whole church part was massively shortened and we got more time in the city and university, that would be a huge plus.
Should have had wesker come back it would have made the stakes feel higher because simmons is not it but clone ada was alright
Simmons was pretty lame, I'll give you that. Might be hard to bring Wesker back after Re5 though hahaha
Ada could close out the story upon discovering the true Wesker, with the one who died in 5 being revealed to be a clone, given how cloning was big in her story
Good enough for me, I'm onboard.
It's a massive longshot, but I'd be stoked if it were true.
Despite the fact RE6 ran like shit on my laptop and had tons of flaws I enjoyed every minute of it and enjoyed it alot more with my friends which is how I recommend you play it. If an RE6 remake does happen I hope they implement the horror elements more heavily while still maintaining the action from the original it would be perfect imo
It's gonna be such a hard line to walk, but after looking at the other REmakes, I feel like the current RE team can get it right. By the way, it's so rad hearing stories of people who got to play it co-op when it came out. That's how I first played RE5 and that's when these 2 games shine.
@@shadowmitchmovies Capcom have probably made some of the best remakes staying faithful to previous games while still being fresh so I definitely think they can pull it off. Also yeah I always heard RE6 was best played with friends so I basically bought myself and friends a copy each so we could all play and it's been nothing but fun despite the glaring issues with the game. I'm pretty excited to play co-op in RE6R whenever it comes out :)
