Hi Smokey - I loved all these stamps !!! I especially loved the Two Pence Halfpenny Falkland Islands Stamp - Absolutly stunning !!!!! And of Course the Australian 3d Captain John MacArthur Centenary stamp is a tie for me !!!! Beautiful !!

Once again, you have totally charmed me with your choice of stamps and topics! I would never have thought I’d be so interested in long-necked animals! 😂 But your description of the stamps, with the “technical” information, so to speak, added to the vivid details on the stamp, are so interesting! Each one is unique, colorful and attractive. I also enjoy the mix of bright and colorful, like the turtles, with the beautiful vintage engraved stamps from the 1930’s and 40’s, like the emu and the vicuna. I’ve collected stamps since I was 8 years old. I am 52 now and still love stamps! Last June I wrote to the Citizens Stamp Advisory Committee with an idea for a set of stamps and guess what? I got a letter in August telling me that they were submitting my idea to their next meeting which was in September!! Now, I haven’t heard anything else and I know I won’t get any direct credit, but if in the next couple years they come out with a set of American Cryptid stamps, yeah, that was my idea 😊😊😊. Also, will you be attending Boston2026? I want to go so badly lol.

Great video, Smokester! Very inspiring. I go through similar angst almost annually. Last year I was once again looking at box lots online and realized I had several boxes in my bedroom that I haven't touched in years. So I started a project to put every single stamp from boxes into stock books, sorted by country. Done. Next project is to sort each country by issue and year. Half done. In parallel, empty the stockbooks by writing up album pages and mounting them. I still have a (much smaller) inbox, but in general, the stamps in those stockbooks is "my collection." Once it's written up, I will decide whether to start a new collection. That's the plan anyway. Today. Don't ask me tomorrow because it may have changed. 😂😁

Great words of advice...... one more tip I'd offer: IF you have any truly valuable stamps, make sure your family knows about them and what to do with them should you no longer be involved in philately.....

It is good to hear them every now and then to make one think about your stamp collecting journey again. You are right, for me stamp collecting sometimes also feel like just another job to be done. And, yes, one should relax and find the joy again. I have only be collecting for two years. Especially in the first year I bought a lot of stamps and accumulated a large stamp accumulation. I don't really mind the accumulation, though. I do keep in mind that it means not much if I do not sort and put them officially in my collection. However, the accumulation in my mind is a large source of potential and stamps to be discovered. So, I think for me the accumulation is part of my collecting process. I did slow down dramatically with buying for now, though. The one large problem I have is to focus on specific areas to collect. There are so many beautiful stamps, and I also appreciate each stamp, including those with clowns and snakes. 😉 Thanks for another enjoyable video, Smokey! Great ideas. It can get overwhelming. Organizing is a constant challenge. It's never a perfect separation, but I see my stamps in 2 parts. My collection and my accumulation. I continually look through my accumulation to build my collection. I feel it is an essential part of my hobby and would not try to eliminate it. But, I do take opportunities for a healthy purge. I gave away a lot of stamps to random new collectors online a few years ago to reduce inventory. I am currently building a collection of used US to compliment my mint collection. As I complete that I will be looking to do a big stock reduction. My accumulation is also a source of material for trades. I do define what I am collecting, but remain flexible in that definition. Many years ago I dropped all WW and for a long time and only collected US. As my US collection neared completion as defined, and only had higher priced items missing, I changed the definition again. I still didn't have the desire to collect all WW, just the ones I like best. So, I am now collecting WW topicals in several areas. Also doing the early GB penny reds and some 2p blues. I would never say I won't buy anything new because I haven't checked everything I have. But when I consider purchasing something I ask myself what it adds to my collection and what are the odds I already have it in my accumulation. I love going to stamp shows, but always have a want list with me. You never know what you might find, but its good to have a few items to focus on. I do enjoy occasionally buying mystery lots even knowing most of it will be duplicates. Discovering something unexpected is a big part of the fun of collecting. Enjoy the hobby. Keith

If it's any consolation, I think it's quite rare for any stamp collection to be completely organized. Acquiring stamps can be easy, and everyone gets some stamps that don't quite fit their current collecting interest.

I love hearing about your plans! I'm currently looking forward to getting back into my own collection after a period of several months of inactivity. It's a similar process - what should I start on first?! I've decided to focus on making a start on organising my Sweden collection, while also browsing through my envelopes of stamps to do a bit of soaking and locating duplicates. I could never promise myself to stop looking for new additions to my collection! The following excuse works well for me.... whenever I need a new stockbook, I buy a used stockbook full of stamps from ebay, so I get stamps as a nice bonus from buying something I genuinely needed! :)

Tip #1. I'm also the process of cleaning up my (European) stamps and limiting myself to 5 countries ;-) And I recognize your backlog issues.... No promises about not buying, though.

I know what you about opening your albums and looking at and appreciating the stamps you have. That was one thing that prompted me to limit what I collect and to cut down on buying stamps just for the sake of having more stamps. What's the point, if they'll just be stored on a shelf for years and years waiting to be sorted and organized (if ever)? Yesterday was Chinese New Year. Guo Nian Hao!

Really nice stamps Jeff send you. Jeff has a wonderful channel, as do you have Smokey. Good point you make, actually points. We get to collect the way we lkke. Our little museum. And indeed, what was tbe last time you went through a certain album. There is so much to love and collect, that doesn't help with going through our albums. I do at times just pick up a binder or album that I haven't opened in a while. Anyway, those 1000 subscribers will come and it will be very much deserved. Thank yiu Smokey for all tje support you are giving others also!
