A Cozy Cabin Homestead | Firewood and Canning

There is work to be done on the homestead. We were gifted a lot of apples and they needed to be used soon. I figured apple butter would be a cozy recipe to pull off the pantry this winter. We have to can a little different than most in the sense we use the outdoor kitchen for the actual canning. Fortunately I was able to prep the apple butter in the house on the wood stove and avoid being froze...
A Day in the Life: Homeschooling in a Cozy Cabin!

This is a Day in our Life on our homestead. We are homeschooling our four children from our cabin in the woods. We are usually to town at least once a day for one of our kids activities but today we were completely off and at home. I wanted to show you what we get up to and how we school our kids. We do use curriculum but my kids are learning more than that. They learn about farming ginseng, ga...

Thank you so much, it means a lot! Thanks for watching!
Hope your dog joins you inside the cabin.
Of course ❤️
Just had one today... so scary. ended up on the roof with a hose, an expired extinguisher, wind was gusting 30mph (feeding the fire) what a nightmare. no permeant damage thank god.
Wow glad everything ended up being ok… we know exactly how you feel! This too shall pass..❤️
Change the gear when riding the ATV. Sounds like you don't know how to drive. Also, yes use a heat lamp/light in your chicken coup.
We don’t have power near the coup and the ATV is automatic and it was in low. Thanks for watching ☺️
You’re a freakin hero dude. Bet you won’t repeat that scenario. 😂 Good save. Can you say adrenaline.
It was wild
Loving these videos. The kids will remember this and cherish these times after they’ve grown up.
Thank you so much!
I’m glad you stood your ground.
Thank you
Put a light in the chicken coop and leave it on all the time. They need lights on or the egg machine stops and they go into a mount for six months.
Please get your dog a coat or sweater ❤

That meal looked delicious
I hope your channel continues to grow, it’s real and genuine. It’s done so well with all the different shots it’s like sitting at the kitchen table with a coffee watching you cook. Pretty cool
Thank you so much! I appreciate it!!
Your family is amazing, thank you for the walks through the woods. I miss that the most, best wishes from S.Florida
Thank you so much ☺️
Don’t stop making these great videos.
Good for you, our family neither.
I’m glad we stuck to our guts on this…
Ok random tip. If you scrape your veggies and things off of your cutting board with the back of the knife…not the blade side…your knife will stay sharper longer. 👍🏻 😉
Also you'll get more flavor from your onions if you gently sauté them 1st, then, add the broth to them, rather than adding onions to broth...just saying ❤
Taking notes!
The Heavens and Earth are only around 6000 yrs old. The only thing you need to do next, is to accept the LORD JESUS CHRIST as your savior. John 3:16 Context 13And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. 14And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
You buy a water heat bow . It’ll keep the water isnot frozen ,
I don’t have the electric for that…good idea tho!
What a beautiful walk intro. Watched over just for that.
As a native Minnesotan now living in Texas, I really miss snow this time of year! Not as much in March and April though…….😂
We haven’t been getting much snow the last few years so this is great for us…looks like there will be a big melt soon. We think about Texas life a lot… 🤔
@@axesandaprons - I will always be a Minnesotan at my core, but I couldn’t ask for a better life than I’ve had since moving to the Lone Star State back in 1996…….👍
Dinner looked yummy.
Just subbed. Enjoy your content. Just wondering which revolver you carry on your side. I live in the mountains and prefer my GP100 or Security Six.
It’s a Colt Python 357. Thanks for watching! - Ben
@@axesandaprons That's a very good choice!
Hi, new subscriber here! Great video, we have lots of snow too! Love the chimes.
There are so many deer in my area, Alabama, I sure wished someone would bring me some venison! Love watching you ❤

@@axesandaprons Howdy, I just thought I saw you using METAL implements on a Lodge. That was all. Mike, from somewhere in Southern Yurrope...
@@Mike-fx4ut hmm I thought it was fine too as well as it helps you scrape it better?
@@axesandaprons My grandparents born in the 1890s used metal utensils on their cast-iron no problem My parents born in 1926 and 1932 used metal utensils on the cast-iron no problem I’m doing the same thing on the same skillets and the same Dutch oven no problem

Thanks you, means a lot 😌
Great channel guys!
Thank you!!
The great ash die=back is really a shame because it is really a superior wood for many uses. Since Major League Baseball has had to turn to other woods like maple for their bate the rate of breakage in games has gone way up. Among other uses, ash makes about the best firewood, so you should gather as much fallen ash as you can. According to the old Woodcutter's Song, it's worth its weight in gold. Oak logs will warm you well That are old and dry. Logs of pine will sweetly smell But the sparks will fly. Birch logs will burn too fast; Chestnut scarce at all, sir; And hawthorne logs are known to last That are cut down in the fall, sir. Chorus Surely you will find There's none compare with the hardwood logs That're cut in the winter time, sir Holly logs will burn like wax; You could burn them green. Elm logs burn like smouldering flax, With no flame to be seen Beech logs for winter time, Yew logs as well, sir; Green alder logs it is a crime For any man to sell, sir. Chorus Pear logs and apple logs, They will scent your room. Cherry logs across the dogs Smell like flowers in bloom. But ash logs, smoo-oo-ooth and grey, Buy them green or old, sir, And buy up all that come your way They're worth their weight in gold, sir. Chorus You can hear it here in Pint and Dale's Livestream at about 9:55 ua-cam.com/video/74oBYJHBgp8/v-deo.html
Thank you so much!

Yes! We actually call it grocery shopping!
Happy Thanksgiving, so nice to see your children helping out and family enjoying a lovingly prepared dinner together.
Thank you so much for watching ❤️ Happy thanksgiving ☺️
Just loved this celebration!!❤
Thank you so much ❤️☺️
That's applesauce, not apple butter. Good job!
It’s the difference in spices and cooking time ❤️
Yup. And spreadability. Apple butter is cooked down until it is caramelized.

We cook our bones for 3+ days in a roaster. Once the bones crumble when smashed is when i strain it. Its a meal in itself.😊
Ahh sounds amazing! Really getting the nutrients and taste 🤤
Then you can dry and powder the bones to use as bone meal for the garden😊
@ oh I didn’t know that. I did put them in the compost though 😊
