You probably won’t see this comment as this is a pretty old video, but just wanted to say I appreciate your videos very much!! I ended up buying and moving into a very similar, not very insulated (if at all), summer cabin, also on piers (with nothing between the ground and me but a layer of 30 year old not very good condition plywood), with no running water. I survived last year but faced many of the challenges you are facing. Heating was my biggest concern, installed a new small wood stove similar to yours, and fed it every three hours for six months straight, sure feels like that’s a task most people are not ready for. However you have the additional challenge of children, which I do not have. Great job making these videos and sharing your adventure with us all! I hope you keep this up, many of us are “forced” to live these somewhat less popular ways of life in these strange times. The hard work is never ending, but the satisfaction is there. Appreciate you!!
@@axesandapronsthat’s awesome, I thought about that last year as well but some of my shack is literally touching the ground, (I have a lot of work to do here 😣), if it were all accessible I would totally do that. I hope (I know it will be) it is super beneficial to you, please make a video on how it performed and how satisfied you and your family are after you go a season with it. Spray foam insulation is amazing, my mother (who has an actual enclosed newish block crawlspace) did it a couple years ago and the results were absolutely incredible, so much good. Good luck!!
You may have another video on this, so if you do, I apologize! Are the bags filled with sand you had delivered or dirt from your property? We just moved to a cabin and need to come up with a solution like this for the pipes!
We built an earth bag root cellar and we still have a lot of dirt left from that! Seemed like the logical root for us since the dirt is already dug up 😊
Love these videos of your daily life and accomplishments!
Thanks for watching!

Thank you! We are actually getting spray foam in a few weeks under the cabin. We really just need the edge taken off!
