The Endless Space Academy: Endless Space 2 Hissho Guide
Welcome back to the Endless Academy! I hope you enjoy my Hissho guide, please let me know who you would like me to do next, I was thinking Umbral Choir? I typically don't play them so learning their mechanics would be good practice.
You may notice some systems having weird names in between clips, this was due to an update that occurred in between recordings.

In this playthrough, I go over essential tips to winning as the Vodyani. They are a very powerful faction but have some huge weaknesses and RNG mechanics early game that can really put you behind.

The Endless Space Academy: Basic Tutorial

Just a basic tutorial to teach some friends what to do in the early game, mainly focusing on production boosters to transition into a nice mid-game. Hopefully, it can help people learn what to do early on!
Nakalim Fleet VS Riftborn
Переглядів 2,5 тис.5 років тому
Nakalim Ships are quite strange, not having in top-mounted weapons tier 1.
I absolutely support this content ! ES2 is life ! Edit: Little question, is the ESG mod compatible with the reawakening update ? I know that most of the ESG mod was integrated into the game itself as its creator worked with Amplitude for Reawakening Cheers !
So glad to see a new guide from Endless Academy!
Good to hear!
Awesome, always wanted to play the hissho but I suck at them, this ought to help :)
Perfect timing, right as I started re-playing ES2
These are really helpful. I love Endless Space from a lore standpoint, but the gameplay sometimes frustates me as many factions don't seem very intuitive to play. Thank you for helping me survive more than 20 turns in multiplayer :D
Some are certainly worse than others, I personally don't like the Umbral Choir for this reason.
yayy, glad your still about
LEEEEEETS GOOOOOO!!!!
This was awesome I learn a lot.
thanks man! love these o7
Glad to hear it!
Babe wake up Endless Space Academy just released a Hissho guide
Haha
Great to see new endless space guides!! I love this game.
Agreed
O.o
This video is so good Im sad that you have not done any others in a year. Everything ok? Should I keep my hopes up?
The group I play with took a hiatus so I didn't feel the need, I just release a new one today though!
Deplete a planets resources in a few turns? That doesn't sound right. Thinking about playing ES2 but now not so sure.
It's not too bad to manage, husk is already depleted at the start. You just need to colonize ;)
Holy moly! The cravers are very difficult😑
The population juggling can be annoying!
I'll happily admit I bought ES2 after I watched Sseth's video on it when it came out. By then I was already quite late to the party I guess, and I played it for a bit, put it aside, went back and played some more, etc, and the more I play it the more I realize how mediocre my understanding of the mechanics actually is. It goes a lot deeper than I first thought. I've won matches with just AI enemies, at the standard difficulty, which seemed like a reasonable place to start learning. But after watching some of the videos people make on how to play certain factions, I'm picking up on a ton of interesting features I wasn't aware of, and I'm realizing I've played the game with both hands tied behind my back and still won, which suggests the standard diff is quite an easy one. Definitely interested in exploring umbral choir, cravers and hissho in more detail, so guides like yours come in handy.
Good take, whats great about endless space is how many diverse strategies there, as well as hidden mechanics inside menus people may not check. I still notice new things every time I play!
Man thank you for this! Any chance of an unfallen guide? Especially with the new awakening update?
Loved this tutorial. Hope You'll be dropping more (especially for the latest patch!!!)
OMG this is the best ES2 tutorial I have ever seen 😍 dude you are amazing
Great guide man, does the newest update affect this guide very much?
The update and mod were made by the same person so the update mostly puts the game in line with it, however the mod is better imo.
Nice work !! When is part 2 ? :)
I've been very busy recently, I'm likely going to make a guide for a new faction probably hissho.
@@theendlessspaceacademy Good news i can't wait!! Keep Up the good work
You are doing the God work here, man: UA-cam is full of very old, unusable guides
Thank you!
Absolutely. You're a lifesaver.
Hey whats this ESJ modpack you talk about in the beginning i cant seem to find it online or on steam workshop
steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2828917317 Hope this helps!
How do we get that ship skin?
I think it's for free if you go on games2gether?
More please
With the new update to combat, are beans still the go to for early ships?
Early game it's a toss up, beams are still the best weapons but if someone goes full beams with full shields to counter beams, a full kinetic fleet would win. Late game kinetics are worse off and laser or bombers are best.
How do you choose which population type becomes manpower (reducing cravers and leaving minors)?the action seems to pick randomly.
Unfortunately you can't choose, one of the issues with the games population management. You should make specific worlds that you ship only cravers to for the purpose of culling pops. This way, your core worlds have a high chance to spawn non cravers pops while the other crap worlds are there just for resources and to hold pops. You want to move cravers out from your core worlds before they deplete, anything with 3 or less planets I just let deplete.
@@theendlessspaceacademy Cheers
This is a fantastic tutorial, do you plan on making any more now that the reawakening update has dropped?
thx I started the game again after the massive update
Great content and underrated channel
I know im a bit late but how come you dont build any pop? Is it just bettwr not too?
It's better to use the essence to expand, the amount of pops aren't as important as claiming good systems. Plus you can fully grow a colony with the normal food buildings it just takes a bit, better not not waste the food.
@@theendlessspaceacademy ah thats cool, thanks for clarifying that. i appreciate the response ^-^
New ES2 content is all I've been looking for. Sophons next? Thanks!
Hey man, first of all thanks for all these guides! I've already learned a thing or two from them and I have a couple more to watch still! Secondly, though I'd like to ask something. I see in this video, as well as at least one previous guide, that you tend to only queue one or two technologies and productions and often start a turn to see either the technology queue or the production queue empty. Don't you miss out on the rest of the output for science and industry respectively that would've gone into the next item in the queue otherwise? Do you have a reason for doing that?
Industry and science are queued up and nothing is lost, even if you don't take a technology for a turn or two. While it will still take a turn to research, for example, a technology might take 0 turns, it will still only be processed next turn. In a normal game I typically don't do this it's just from redoing the same turns when I make a mistake recording lol. It takes a while to record even 30 seconds since I make a lot of mistakes.
@@theendlessspaceacademy Wait what? Really? Thanks for the swift reply and I getcha, but let me see if I get that right, since I might have misunderstood it all this time. So say you have 300 industry and the thing you're producing only needs 200 more to finish and you have nothing queued after that. Next turn starts and you queue a new thing. Does that mean that at the end of that turn the new thing you queued will get 400 industry? 300 from the turn in which you queued it and the 100 that was leftover from the previous turn?
Yea it queues the production or science if you miss it. I haven't tested not producing something for a few turns myself however. I know for a fact it saves the science, not sure about the production though.
That's awesome, I'll have to see it myself as well! Thanks for the videos again man, zero pressure but if you make more I'll definitely take a peek!
I started working on a hissho video, I've just been super busy recently lol. Thanks for the comments though, always happy to answer questions!
You deserve more subs for how do you present this game
I thought this guide was great, but I was wondering if this video was you coming back officially? I love most of your old videos and was hoping you would do coverage on the new update with some of the other factions.
Holy shit! A well made and easily understood endless space tutorial?? In this economy! But seriously thanks so much I can actually understand how to play cravers now
Thank you!
I just started playing, this is very helpful! Thank you so much youtuber from the past! ❤🎉
Thank you!
Ugh, my colonizer ships come with 3 slots instead of 4. did they nerf them or is it one of the science upgrades?
It's most likely the ESG 1.6 mod, you should download this from the steam workshop it really improves the game in many ways!
I just uninstalled the ESG 1.5 and now i have 4 slots in there. Basically ESG 1.5 Nerfs the riftborn @@theendlessspaceacademy
Also thanks for the reply, still waiting for cravers guide part 2 :)@@theendlessspaceacademy
I've been working on a hissho guide actually, the cravers are mostly early game so their strategy isn't that complex besides ship designs which all factions can use. Maybe I'll go into more detail about the ship designs in the hissho guide.
Very good explanation. Had no idea about the top mounted vs side mounted weapons. Were swarm missiles removed or something? Ive seen them in everybody's videos but Ive never seen them in game.
Perhaps they are in a dlc? Likely supremacy.
Are you still playing? I know im late but ive been playing off and on since 2019. These video guides are the most helpful
Yes of course! If you would like to join a game we typically host on the ESG discord, lmk.
@@theendlessspaceacademy of for sure! I've been thinking of how to find multiplayer games
discord.com/invite/YQjMEZAg. Here is the link if you'd like.
Hello, is it worth more building riftborn pops before making system improvements? Each riftborn always costs 1 turn and they're only 50 industry each. I'm thinking maybe get to 50 industry for a fresh colony then pump riftborn pops until it then becomes more efficient to build improvements. What are your thoughts?
It's worth it once you have drone networks xeno industrial and a few planets colonized, you then send the pops you make to your capital. Basically, minor factions pops move out from the capital, riftborn move in. You use the colonies to feed better systems as the price to make a riftborn pop scales the more there are in the system.
Make more pls😢 i need this, no one makes short good faktion tuts
Thank you!
Very good guide! Looking forward to part 2 :)
How can your starting planet have so much production and dust?
Perhaps a change from the mod or being on fast speed?
You make it look easy, which is a sign of a man who is proficient in something. Thanks for making the video, I liked your explanations as to why you were doing things.
Glad you liked it!
I would like to suggest your next video cover the most recent update to ES2, as IIRC, some mods will no longer function properly with the game. Have you considered this?
If the update covers more of the mod then yes, right now the update is now where near complete, for example the mod has animation speed x64 while the update has max x6 or something low, this can slow the game down a bunch. There are a lot of little things like that. For now I will continue with the ESG mod.
Nakalim ships are pretty OP for a pervert race who only knows how to "SIMP" The Lost.
Thank you for the awesome guides! I wanted to get into this game lately and there is not a lot of material out there currently. :)
Thank you!
Great video, finding decent guides to getting started with ES2 is such.a pain given the age of the game and number of DLCs. Defiantly worth a sub! I hope you've got plans to do a batch of vanilla with all DLC tutorials once the "(Re)Awakening" patch drops as a kind of definitive onboarding tutorial series for new/returning players. I can't see Endless Space 2 getting another update once that is released so its not like they're going to become redundant.
I've tried the new patch and it just doesn't compare to the ESG mod yet, the low animation speed really hurts as waiting for probes to go takes a significant amount of time on 4x compared to 64x speed. Unless it's almost identical to the ESG mod I most likely won't use it.
Great guide! This game is sooo complex I have trouble understanding everything at one glance. I particularly neglect shipbuilding, not knowing what's the best... Thanks a lot, expect to see more!
Thank you!
