lowkey makes me emotional. ive recently started picking up resonance of fate and ive been seeking similar games. that 2000s grungy, moody feels to them. realistic games all look the same just in different settings. i miss how games back then have their own unique atmosphere specific to their own franchises. i keep coming back.

Dead or Alive 3, 2 Ultimate and Xtreme Beach Volleyball on the Original Xbox looked like 360 games, especially the two latter ones and 2U even got online compatibility. I don't see people much talking about them these days sadly. I guess the DOA fandom isn't that large.

Quit making up problems, turn based is just as popular if not more than ever, idk if you heard about this game but it’s pretty niche and underrated, Baldurs Gate 3 is pretty fun. I know nobody knows this series but persona 3 has a remake, and I’m sure not many people are aware but Atlus also released a new game called Metaphor, don’t get me started on Yakuza: like a dragon

the style or, era of gaming could come back if everyone stopped being graphics snobs. im actually kinda of losing interest in gaming because of how ultra realistic everything is trying to be. It's boring to me, there's no style to it. I see people making N64 and PS1 style games on steam and most of them nail that era or gaming and im hoping indie devs eventually start making games inspired by the 6th generation era of gaming... Lastly, and this may sound crazy... but I bet you that Companies and Studios would save a boatload of money if they balanced the budget a little more and stop chasing graphics so hard they'd have more resources to put towards things that actually matter in a video game... look at Bethesda, you look at their early 2000s RPG, Morrowind and that game is bursting at the seams with content and quests because they had so many people working quests and story writing etc. and then you look at the people they had working on Starfield, they had over 50 people working the graphics and 3d models ALONE and just one guy making the story and quests. there's nothing wrong with beautiful looking game but we've got decade old games that look like they came out just a few years ago. Art style is what greatly influences visuals now and spending less graphical fidelity would allow for the uniqueness we see with 6th generation games to come back.

I kinda always considered myself a 90s kid (born in 92) but really in that generation I didn't play much of anything at that age, though I do remember going to cousins' houses to play Tekken 3 or Crash on their Playstation (my parents didn't allow me to have anything other than portable systems that were hand-me-downs from my uncle), but I do distinctly remember playing Pokemon first gen a lot (second gen too, but I think that came out in 2000 in Europe). I think the 90s shaped my cartoon and movie sensibilities (Disney movies, Recess, Rugrats, Pokemon, Digimon etc) But man from the 2000s onwards, that's where it got good. Not only MORE POKEMON but many many many different franchises. That's when I got introduced to Final Fantasy, seeing my uncle fighting some bugs using Ifrit, or Resident Evil, watching my uncle and aunt freak out over Nemesis (that's 90s but I saw them play it in the 2000s), seeing how cool Dante looked in magazines, a friend showing me all about Metal Gear and lending me his games, and, even though it's from 2009, it still counts, my lifelong obsession with the souls games, Demon's Souls.

Imagine how few sales you'd need to make to consider a game a success if AAA dialled it back to budgets like this in a market that is $140 billion larger since then, we have the hardware and tools to make "simpler" games like this a lot faster so dev times would be faster and therefore cheaper, more games, more variety, more taking risks, relying more on art than realistic graphics would allow the games to run on everything with less optimisation, there's virtually no R&D required because you don't have to make a bespoke engine and invent new techniques anymore to achieve things, less widespread layoffs as everything is more sustainable. Ahh, to dream.

I played from a stolen ds my sister got for me. I would dream about playing all these games, the commercials went HARD. Now I’m an adult and can experience everything I didn’t get to but I can’t help but mourn what could’ve been if my mom wasn’t so against games. I lived through other people or going to friends houses, and it was the best times regardless. The vibes were so different.

I always found funny how Lain kinda warned us about the danger of disconnecting with the real world by computers and stuff... Ironically, this effect happened with me, but in the opposite way: I feel that we disconnected with however we had going on in the middle 2000! We reached the epiphany of a perfect clash between technology, asthetic and perspective of life in my opnion... Maybe it's my nostalgia hitting cuz some people also tried to do the same on the internet about the early 90s aswell, but being fair... It didn't hit the same now that I think about it. The ps2 era started rotting and now lives rent free on my soul, I just feel something is always off/missing when I see videos like this... Same type of shiw when I stare at the asthetic frutiger aero and think within myself: The world would be so much better if we followed this aesthetic on everything we would've done lol.

Nishki's whole story is probably the best written story in the series. The actor also goes above and beyond and shows how the Japanese attitude of voice acting can give some Oscar actors a run for their money. The car scene in 0 is probably my favorite dramatic scene in any story and fun fact, doing the additional new scenes for kiwami as well as doing the redub over the original scenes (he was in the first game as well) was so emotionally traumatizing for him, he swore to never look at the script again. Clearly sega saw talent when they rehired him to now lead the series with ichiban.
