The Persona 3 Dancing opening had water as a big theme. I hear water is brought up in the movies as well, so perhaps it was something they retroactively added.
@@Demi-Joker No because this was a retroactive decision and P4's subtheme is light. As in, the light to cast away the fog and shadows. And you better not be talking to me about a damn P5 remake. P4G doesn't even need one either. It's already great, and the graphics look really good for the PS2 and even the models in the Vita version of Golden are really charming. P4G has aged great graphically and anyone who says otherwise is an HD whore. P3 had some wonky character models but P4 had greatly improved and detailed models.
I share pretty much all of your adressed points of optimism and worry. Atlus going the FFVII Remake route would be _very_ interesting. It would be a challenging undertaking to give the much needed resolution to Liz's story without ruining the overall message of P3. I'm fairly optimistic though.
Ngl I'm pessimistic about it, It kinda feels like they're just finding a way to rewrite the protagonist into existence. I like how the og story ended, there being virtually no way to save the hero was a fine trade for preventing the end of the world and I don't see how you could realistically keep the importance of it's meaning the same if you can just defy the theme of the og game and beat it
In og P3 Yukari in rank 7 of her SL mentions how the ocean is always a part of their lives, living along the coast and how they even spent their vacation at the beach. Maybe water is a motif Atlus focused on because it's like riding the wave of life. There was an anime movie called Ride Your Wave which had a similar idea.
That one of my favourite parts about Elizabeth as a character, unlimited Monies (yes I spelled it wrong, but I did So on purpose no need fir the Grammar Police)
I remember making a script for an unfinished video back in 2022 about what I wanted to see within the remake and talked about Elizabeth's role in helping Makoto so I'm really glad you talked about that. One other thing I really want to see is better characterization and screen time for Strega because I felt like their motivations and actions were not really explained thoroughly. Some stuff from the movies can also be put in, like Makoto's hesitation when fighting the final full moon boss causing the crew to not reach Shinjiro on time. Also like you said, I really hope that the difficulty of P3 is preserved because I really didn't like how easy persona 5 was, especially royal when it came out. Overall, I'm happy with them just sticking to them remaking the entire game but I really want to see either the FEMC or The Answer come back in some way. Or maybe they'll create some new post game story if anything significant changes within the main game.
I think that its gonna be an FF7 Remake-type sequel. Maybe the ending will stay the same if you don’t meet a requirement related to Elizabeth, but if you do then you know what will happen. I think this is the reason why The Answer isn’t in the game, I think there’s gonna be a new ending or additional content after the ending.
When any other fan sees a remake: Let's hope this won't be a lazy rehash with at best some extra content of the game its remaking. Persona fans: Remake time lets gooooo! Oh nevermind, DLC problems but my point still stands.
Great video. I played P3 for the first time a few years back and it easily became one of my favorite games ever. I have high hopes for the remake, and honestly think it will do pretty well.
My excitement for p3 reload is out of this world, I feel like this is the first of many big w’s in atlus’s future. I’m also super excited to see if all that leaked stuff is true.
Since P5R is my first Persona game and I have no reference, it's very interesting to hear you say you hope P3R won't be as easy. I do agree that it feels like they're catering a lot to fans of P5 (AKA me), but I'm hoping it's more in the sense of "Hey, P5 has so many new bells and whistles and overall improvements to the gameplay, that adding them into P3 is a no brainer." Honestly, IDK how people are able to one shot the Reaper, maybe it's not as hard as I thought, so I get not wanting the game to be easy if you can abuse these new systems without difficulty balance. Plus, having the game be brutal feels like it matches the tone of the game. All in all, I'm still very excited for this game, cuz I know very little about P3, and I'm so interested in what the game has to offer.
Maybe the water motif has something to do with the moon as well. Like how the moon's gravitational pull affects the oceans here on Earth. I feel like the moon and the ocean are also usually connected in media and stuff.
I think when I finally start this series, I might stick with the original just so i can experience it in its own right. Ive always been super intereste in Persona but never got the chance to get into it all until recently. I dont understand everything in this video tbh but ill definitely be coming back to your videos when i finish the series haha Regardless, getting yo hear your thoughts on Persona and other games is always awesome.
I really hope they give separate settings between brightness for cutscenes and brightness for in-game play, Royal on a good tv looks incredible with boosted brightness in the game settings, but the cutscenes have super lifted blacks that are too painful to watch
Allowing the game to be more accessible to modern players like P5 isn't a bad thing so long as they keep the *ability* to use the original P3 mechanics. By not making it accessible, they'd shut out a huge portion of the fanbase who haven't experienced P3's story but are accustomed to the accessibility of P5. That accessibility is what set it apart from other JRPGs and the SMT series as a whole and made it the success that it is. Something like being able to turn off direct commands or baton passes in a menu would allow you to have your cake and them to have their cake and everyone gets to eat it too.
yeah I may have worded it wrong so my bad. I meant accessible in terms of changing too many things gameplay wise, or thematically to cater towards the newer players (or persona 5 players) I would of course want everyone to enjoy this game and I see why they went through with a lot of the changes, I just hope they don't change too much to where it doesn't feel like persona 3 you know?
My only concern is the shadows being monsters instead of actual demons. I loved the return of negotiations and demons but persona 3 reload would probably still be fun without it. Thoughts?
yeah I haven't even thought about negotiations in reload honestly, I think it would be a really interesting addition to see but i get why they just kept it vanilla to how it was originally. I think they could have turned the shadows into actual demons like modern persona or smt but the whole monsters approach has a much more iconic and nostalgic feeling to the older games so I see why they kept them as monsters.
@@Pumpo Good point. I played Persona 4 before 5 and thought the monsters were way less easier to memorise and feel some sense of connection to in 4. However, you're correct about it being iconic. The monsters, in turn, made me focus more on the story rather than the gameplay, which was the part 5 is praised for. 3's moon bosses were much more enjoyable than both games in any case.
Kotone Shiomi isn't important, she's great but she us completely irrelevant to Persona 3, I think Reload will change it's own story and Bring Makoto Yuki back from the Seal
Now give us the first 3 games in at least a minimal remake but FAITHFUL TO THE ORIGINALS. There's only one reason to play the original (once the fan translation comes out of course) over PSP Persona 1, the music.
Am I doing myself a disservice by starting up P3P on PC for the first time, or should I just wait until P3R? I just finished P4G, and am very tempted to play P3P, but don't know if that will ruin the fun of trying Reload when it comes out
I would say to wait for reload honestly. If you really want to try persona 3 then Fes is your best bet if you can find a way to play it. Coming from p4g, p3fes should feel right at home.
@Pumpo Thanks for the response, I've been really going back & forth on it but don't know anyone familiar with the series, so I just started watching videos. I'm playing through them on PC Game Pass, so I don't have FES. In that case, sounds like waiting would just be best. Thank you again!

That’s true actually, seemed like more of a minimalistic addition but it was all over the dancing opening. Maybe they’ll add a new spin on this one
Well I mean, the moon DOES affect the tides.
Wait, does this also mean a P4 remake would have electricity and a P5 remake would have fire?

I believe the Water motif is akin to the message about “The sea of souls” which is bought up quite a lot in P3.
i thought it was because of the connection tide has to the moon

Definitely could be a possibility. They could even use that to further develop certain backstories of the cast in ways they haven’t done before
I thought it was because of Waters relation to the Moon and tides.
Could also play into the themes of sadness and depression

you should add a timestamp to skip the P3 spoilers.
If the sacrifice isn't the same or similar. Then this remake will actually be worse than FES/Portable imo
