    yes. thats my mom. Gave up years ago on trying to reason with her. In her mind shes always right no matter how wrong she is.I never realized how narcissistic she was until I watched a few good vidios and she checked every box. Its easier just to agree with her . but thats not a healthy relationship. How can you have a healthy relationship with someone like that?

    I do want to point to anyone that scoffs at degrees. Desantis literally just signed a bill in California banning satanism not to ever be represented or allowed as a religion in schools claiming its not a religion. When the government largely does consider satanism a religion and historically it is a religion. Which desantis would know this if he employed a historian or someone that specializes in the thing hes talking about. But we dont hold people like desantis and others accountable for the stupid uninformed things they say or do who are in power. When we should. Why didnt you seek their advice and pay them for their expertise? Etc.

    I like millennial steam's channel because it highlights the what we should all want in our society which is for work to matter. Not specific work mattering, or whats in demand or not in demand work mattering. Whats best for society is all work to matter and all work to get paid sufficiently and fairly. We can all say its not gonna change till we are blue in the face but the ones that say that, honestly dont want it to change. They agreed to the system and they are fine changing themselves for the system meanwhile gaslighting everyone about being NPC's when they are the biggest NPC by not rising up against an obvious corrupt system. Millenials steam's channel is not for the "loser" or the person that just isnt good with finances. Its for everyone thats average and a worker. We shouldnt feel bad if we are average, and are a worker, degreed or not. Both of those categories take work to accomplish.

    As the living standard gets higher, the harder life gets. Looking at older generations of people living a more tough life is overinflated because humans wouldn't have media sources to propogate what an ideal life looks like. This is why I believe humans could just adapt without a thought because they had few choices, very fewer choices than modern-day societies have accumulated over the decades. It's essentially a mental and psychological warfare that is more prevalent than previous generations.

    Doesn't the fact that men and women were able to establish families at younger ages point to or indicate how much LESSER a need there is was for a highly specialized technical skillset in that world versus today's in order to do the same thing? That 70-90% of the jobs which were sufficient skill-wise to allow people to settle, simply aren't good enough anymore? Due to this same increase in technology? In other words, that level of skillset simply doesn't "cut it" anymore? Hence why more people are finding it harder than ever to find job security?

    It is ironic that the rich average the least children and people in great debt and financial ruin have the most.

    • @JoshPiper
      @JoshPiper 16 днів тому

      I guess it kind of makes sense though. If you have kids you are going to have to spend more resources on your kids and allocate more of your time towards raising them. If you do not have kids you can potentially work more or earn more money because you do not have the responsibility of raising children. If you are not in a good situation financially- I think you have to avoid having kids- the system has not made it easy today- and everything is so darn expensive- I mean just look at housing. You are going to make your life very stressful if you have an average income and decide to have a few kids- because your money will get stretched incredibly thin. All of the credit card usage is a great example of how people are living above their means- and their incomes from their work or job or occupation is not enough to support whatever their lifestyle is. And having kids will very obviously make your life more expensive- and it will take away time from being able to work or earn additional income. So in my opinion- unless you are rich or have a great trajectory in your career to be earning a very respectable income- you should avoid having kids. Of course- a certain percentage of people just truly want kids because that is maybe the one thing they value the most in life- but I truly dont think it is advisable to have kids if you are in a position of economic strain and uncertainty….that will make everyone’s life (including the kids) more stressful. All of the single parent households, all of the divorces, the parents who are not there to raise their children, the parents who cannot provide basic needs for their children- all because they had children when they truly economically couldn’t afford to. If the system was set up in a way to support parents more- then maybe it would make sense to have kids- otherwise I think only those who have strong financial foundations should have kids. And hey- I’m including myself here- I will not be having kids until I feel very confident in my financial position in life and I feel like I could weather whatever storm comes my way.

    When your rent payment can barely afford your apartment then you know there’s a problem. Having less kids.

    • @JoshPiper
      @JoshPiper 16 днів тому

      Yep- the normal path in life doesn’t provide enough income or resources to have a family. I think a lot of people are scraping by just trying to support themselves- and much of their income goes towards basic living necessities- and much of their money is sucked up by rent - and of course when you are renting you have no equity in the ownership of the home. And I would think most people will not feel comfortable about starting a family if they are in an apartment and there is not much wiggle room with their income. I think it’s the practical thing to do (to avoid having children) until you have a solid foundation with reliable good income. And if you never achieve that in life- then it’s probably better to avoid having kids. It has simply gotten to expensive for the average normal person out there to have kids. And when normal people can’t have kids then the birth rate will go down.

    To all the pronatalist conservatives out there: how about we fix the economy first and succeed in marriage before we start mass breeding again.

    • @JoshPiper
      @JoshPiper 16 днів тому

      I think normal people are just wising up. They are not going to participate in a system where their life gets increasingly harder due to having children. Having kids is vital to repopulating countries and ensuring there are enough young people in the system to support the needs of those aging. But when economic conditions for the bottom 80% of the population are grim- they are going to seriously evaluate if they can handle the financial burden of supporting a family. If their income does not provide a good purchasing power in the real economy then less and less people will have kids. Seriously- I am blown away with how much certain things cost. Dentistry, doctors visits, pet services, insurance- pretty much any professional service you may need can take out an average workers entire monthly income. Those who make really good incomes and are in the top 10-20% can likely afford all of these things- but the majority of people cannot. Wages are lagging real costs in the economy big time- and the everyone but the rich is getting squeezed. The rich own assets (homes, stocks, etc) that go up with inflation- but the poor and working class usually own very little assets. So with persistent inflation, life becomes more expensive for everyone- however the poor and middle class people do not get to experience the asset appreciation because they do not own any assets. Take for example a house- if you own a house and it goes up in value 100% you are happy. But if you do not own a house and the price of housing goes up 100% then your cost to potentially buy a house has gone up by 100%. So life for people on the bottom and in the middle just gets progressively more expensive because they don’t own any significant assets that go up in value due to inflation. All this is doing is continuing to drive a wedge between super rich people and everyone else who is poor and working class. A very small percentage of people are doing exceptionally well while the majority of people are paycheck to paycheck and struggling.

This video makes me feel like I might've made a mistake. lol Like I could've been a little smarter about it, especially for a first car. It's just several of my friends got cheap cars a couple thousand bucks. And they were putting money into it the entire time they owned them until they finally gave it up to a junkyard for like 300 bucks. I don't want that for my family. So i wanted something kinda new with AC and also sporty, a manual hatchback and now i owe a bunch of money. whoops I barely know how to drive. I should've gotten something like this first probably

    The rich sometimes get richer and the poor sometimes get richer. A rich person can invest in real estate and make money but they can also fail at real estate. Poor people can't invest in real estate (excluding bank loans, random donations, friend's money, partnering with richer people). Rich people can also start a business to *try* and make more money. I make very little money (some would claim I make no money). I have no car and no house of my own and I'm 31. Yet, my life is really good sometimes. Different people, different experience. Thanks for promoting money ideas and exercise. I need both.

    500k/year people are only commonly spoken about to those on the internet who have no idea how rare that is. Surgeons, small business owners who got successful and C-level execs. Sure some inter-generational wealthy folks too but even those are far rarer than you'd think because families usually dilute the wealth over generations with a greater portion of the family consuming the wealth vs investing/growing it as time goes on. I work in corporate America with some really high performers and even they aren't at the 500k level maybe 350-425k for the dept heads and that comes at the cost of their soul in terms of time dedicated to the job. 150-250k is far more common and only way to get to 500k is if its a couple and both have demanding jobs ie: in middle management making close to 250k. The higher up you go above 100k, 150k and especially 200/250k you just don't find jobs that will pay that much. Silicon Valley may be different but even on the northeast coast only way you getting that comp is being an executive at some PE company and that's basically C-level stuff. When I hear people talking about 500k jobs as if its not a big deal I know they have no idea what they are talking about and their frame of reference is off the internet and not reality.

    Another thing to account for is some of these positions, by design, don't leave any opportunity for upward mobility within a given company. They would rather keep you as a known in your current position in a flat heirarchy, which makes you easy to replace if you move or no incentive for them to offer you any opportunities. Unfortunately, this situations can be hard to recognize until you've been in them for a while. What you said about the solution is spot on tho- in most cases, if you see the lack of opportunity, you're better off statistically by leveraging your skills into a new position and moving on. They definitely aren't going to keep paying you more for staying around if you're doing the same job, and that isn't anything new, really. Good topic, feel better Josh.

    I had a 2001 Buick Regal my dad gave me (he bought it for $1500CAD) and that lasted me four years. It went the scrap yard in 2018 due to it being a rusty deathtrap. Took the $500 from scrap and bought a 2002 Civic coupe, drove that for a year until it got totalled by a cement truck backing into it. Scrapped that, and took the 500 and put it on a downpayment for my current 2020 Corolla, that I'm still paying for to this day. Cay payments suck, this is the first and last time im taking a car loan. This car will be paid off in two years, and I'm planning on driving it into the ground.

    I drive a 2002 Toyota Estima Minivan in Europe, 2.4 petrol and runs amazing. Everytime I go to a petrol station I always see new cars, never see older cars like mine at the pump. My 2002 even has an original toyota reversing camera 2 sunroofs, automatic, Japanese TV etc. ITs loaded and has a pillow-ie ride. Its like driving a marshmello, anyway I have rented new EV's and they ride so firm, they kill my back! I rented a 2022 Hyundai Kona EV and I couldn't get the heater to work and the dealer said when I called them try turning it on with the APP! The Kona head unit would not start the heater but the app would, this car had s many software bugs it was ridiculous! Also it had lane assist and alsmot killed me, I didn't know it had it until it took the wheel and tried to take me into a lane that did not exist! Ill stick with my 2002 toyota minivan as I have no-body to impress and I don't car what people thing and I don't care where I park it. Completely hassle free motoring and I only paid £1500 which is like $1900 USD. PS my local Toyota dealer has all the main engine component parts, so parts are very plentiful as it has a 2AZ-FE (the earlier one that does not have the oil bruing issue which affected post 2006 models). Toyota put this same motor in all the USA Spec Camery's etc. The motor is like buttery smooth and the old Toyota automatic is also buttery smooth. Sometimes I think you would not get a more comfortable ride in any other make only a"comparable ride" unless your driving a Mercedes with air suspension.
