Our first SAILING ADVENTURE in 6 months | Sailing MAKANI Ep39
Join us as we go on a little sailing adventure after six months of preparing our #tinyhome for a cruising season in the Med. Before we go out to check if we are still able to sail away with our beautiful #sailboat 😅, we fix one more tiny thing up on the mast.
Thanks for watching and welcome on board.

In part 9 of our #sailboatrefit series, we show you all the side projects we realised during our time in the #boatyard while we were waiting for the right weather conditions to paint our sailboat's hull. In part 8 of the Sailing MAKANI #sailboatrefit series, we learn new #boatpainting skills and use the roll & tip technique to transform the look of our sailboat. Sailboat REFIT #6 - HOLES IN THE HULL. What now!? | Sailing MAKANI Ep34
Переглядів 1,3 тис.3 роки тому
In part 6 of the #sailboatrefit series, we end up with a total of four #holes in the hull when we take out the broken depth sounder, anchor alarm and log and later also need to take out a #seacock in our sailboat’s head. It feels like a lot and we decide not to do the #epoxy and #fiberglass work ourselves, but get the experts from the boatyard to do it for us. We also struggle with strong winds...

Переглядів 4,4 тис.3 роки тому

One of the slings wasn’t well positioned, leaving our tiny home in a strange angle and leading to this most scary incident. Luckily nothing happened and the #boatyard staff was able to resolve this issue within seconds. In order to prevent something like this from ever happening a...

Переглядів 4,4 тис.3 роки тому
In the second part of our #tinyhome refit series, Max has to climb 15 meters (49 ft) up to the mast head to install the new B&G wind instrument. If that wasn’t mad enough, we also have to deal with a super narrow pipe in order to route the cable up to the man in the mast. Quite the crazy day but worth the hassle! 🤪 Thanks for watching and welcome on board. _ In this episode: Fou | KORU Ocean Vi...

Hey guys, I just stumbled upon your videos , I see that you haven't posted anything in years. Do you guys still sailing? It's a very beautiful boat you have there. Anyhow, hope you guys are doing well. Cheers and thanks for the beautiful videos. From Quebec, Canada 👍
Thank you for the video! Which dinghy davits did you buy? Brand? Link? Have you had any trouble with them? Anything you would do differently?
Very good job
Thanks for sharing this! I plan on doing a similar job pretty soon on my boat and it really helps to see other people's experience.
Liebsten Dank für das tolle Video! Wir haben uns gerade eine 40 Jahre alte Dufour gekauft und uns steht der Austausch der Gasleitung auch noch bevor. Dank eurer guten Anleitung sollte das kein Problem sein. 😊
I like your paint and gold stripe , very classy ! New Subscriber and looking forward to more !
the underwater shots are especially nice
Don't know if you looked it up the the "triangle shaped ruler" but in American English it is called a set square or protractor triangle. Auf Deutsch heißt es glaube ich TZ-Dreiek oder Geomatrie-Drejeck. In the 1980's I was a yoga instructor with the Sivananda Yoga Centers. I ran the center in Madrid, Spain and sometimes taught at the center in Munich, Germany and Vienna, Austria. Now I am a retired pharmacist and I just bought my first sailboat: an O'Day 222 which I need to paint the hull in the springtime before launching it. So I appreciate you video on painting the hull. Vielen Dank. Robert in New Mexico, USA.
Hallo. Seit ihr stop sailing???
Respekt. Sieht echt gut aus.
Hi guys. Why do you sell the boat?
Did your beautiful boat come with the sage green seat covers or did you make them.. If so where did you get the fabric. I love your boat just wish it was bigger.... 😊@sailingmakani
The boat came with the covers. The previous owner made them and chose the color. The fabric has a velvety structure. We really liked it!
There are many YT videos on closing holes below the water line. It is a project easily done by most anyone.
Ich höre nicht was für Dialekt ihr habt! Seids kein Steirer order??? (Deutsch ist gar nicht meine Muttersprache, aber kann i a biserl Steirisch 🤣)
Oberösterreicher. 😉
Good to see you kids again been missing your videos... Looking forward to more... Be blessed in Jesus name... BBE..
Missed you guys. Thanks for posting.
Nice see you again. Enhorabuena.
You scared me, good for Max, safety first right? Hitting that 3-knot mark can be really something but it was handled well and you survived, a very exciting episode.😆😉😊😁😃 Love and Hugs. Looking into your sunglasses was something of a Matrix moment.
Hey guys, enjoy this new video. Sorry, it took so long! We've been busy sailing ... 😜
glad you guys updated again
Glad to see a new video. Greetings from 🇨🇦
Hi Guys have ye disappeared into the abyss?
HAHA. Maybe a little bit. We had many visitors on the boat during the past months and we traveled around a lot so we didn't find the time for editing , but we'll upload a new video soon...-ish! 😜
i hope you both doing fine and fun...
Thanks for the concern! We're doing great. We're on the Balearics at the moment enjoying some much needed family time. 😊 We'll post a new video soon, but at the moment we're traveling and showing our family the liveaboard life. Sorry that you have to wait!
@@SailingMAKANI it's oke katy, take time as much as you want. we're not going anywhere anyway
Great video. Really well produced. And the music levels are perfect. No relationship advice needed!
😂😂😂 Thanks, Andy! We really appreciate it. Now I can cancel the marriage counseling session and we can go sailing with you this afternoon instead! 😜
Aaah! Your boat is beautiful!!!! Thanks for the amazing pics on Instagram and the cool footage over here on youtube 😉 blessings from the very cold @ the moment SA 🇿🇦
Thank you Nikita for all the praise! 😜 It sure was hard work this winter, but it payed off. We enjoy it so much that we live aboard this beautiful floating home. Strange how a little bit of paint makes sich a big difference. 😂😂😂
The same outfit, twice in the same year, really how could you? 😉😁 Was it foggy or another skip that just decided to self combust? a great way to get rid of the trash, just burn it.😗 Great that you are back in the water now for the next adventures. Bring it on. Ah the Balearics, I lived in Mallorca in a nice little town called Llucmajor for 7 years.
😂😂😂 Thank you Mike for another fun comment. Wishing you a lovely day from your former home-island, Mallorca. We arrived a few days ago. We'll let you know what we think. 🙂
its a square
The boat looks awesome!
Amazing job! I can only imagine how much work that was, but it looks fantastic.
You did a fantastic job of painting your hull! I am re painting my aluminium mast using international perfection, it’s a great product.
Another good video! Great to see the progress.
A very nice video. Thanks for posting.
Jööö 😉
Always enjoy your enthusiasm about your beautiful boat. Best wishes. Stay safe.
Looking good guys
Set square 🙃🐖
Very good, MAKANI looks great! Can't wait for the next video 😍
It is a 'tri-square'. I have 3 made of metal and one side that has ridge so to place against the wood so to hold for a square cut.
Nice! That's good to know. 😊👍 The ones you have sound like awesome tools. We probably should buy those, if we come across them somewhere. Thanks for the tip!
@@SailingMAKANI The English generic term is "Speed Square" ..... Google "What is the best speed square?"
A triangle shaped ruler!! Best!! 😁👌 love from SA 🇿🇦
😂😂😂👍 Yes, you can't say that we don't research our facts. Total pros! 😜
Aahaha classic 🤣🤪😁👍 and I also liked the clever wording... "prop-er solution " 😉☝ number 1 🙂👌
Hey guys, in this video we show you all the side-projects that we realised in the boatyard while we had to wait for the paint to dry. 😜 Enjoy!
Well done guys, she looks amazing
Great Job! Makani 2.0 is beautiful.
Thank you! 😊
Hello guys, really nice video. :-) One question, did you have AIS, and if yes how is the configuration? Thanks
Hi there, we don't have AIS but we plan to get it with the next bigger refit. We think that the configuration should not be too difficult. As far as we know, you can even display AIS on the small B&G multifunction display and you apparently don't need to have a chart plotter. If we decide to install AIS, we will make sure it matches the NMEA 2000 data-bus configuration and then it'll be just plugged into the backbone.
Looks awesome
Thank you, Gilbert! 😊
She is very beautiful...great job !!
Thank you, David. 😊 She sure is a piece of work, but we honestly don't mind that. 😂
It looks amazing! Luv the gold color.. Great choices on the repaint. It is so clean looking
Thanks so much! We are also really happy with the classy look. It's a great fit! ✨⛵️✨
looks great.... well done
Thanks so much! 😊
Fantastic finish. Well done.
Thank you so much! 😊
11:37 looks amazing with the gold
Thank you! She's a real royal beauty now. 😂👍
