Thank you for your sincere decision. I think you’ve made the right choice. It is not only the Atlantic crossing, but also what awaits you in the Caribbean. In my opinion: expensive, and overcrowded and the strong sun does not do your wooden boat any good either. That’s why it’s a good decision that you don't. And furtheron the ship and you has to go back (via the Azores) and thats a far way.
Think that was a good decision for you guys. It’s good you both spoke and realized it wasn’t right and changed your plans. Thanks for sharing and we look forward to watching you do work on beautiful Makani and hopefully see you guys again next year. Hope you guys have a lovely Christmas 💜
Season Greetings from 🇨🇦. Thanks for posting /sharing another video. Your reasoning for not crossing the Atlantic seems to me to be sound. After all this is your adventure, it’s not supposed to be series of trials.
Good you staying in the Med, there might be a possibility of meeting in the coming years, I hope :-) Currently my boat is in Croatia, awaiting some refit work before I can start roaming...
I guess you made the right decision not to cross the Atlantic being guests in a boat that is not yours. I fully understand that. Also, with this pandemic one does not know how things will evolve. I wonder though how your friends coped with your last minute change of plans. It must have been difficult for them too as well as for you to tell them.
It wasn’t easy to tell them, but they respected and appreciated our honesty. If it doesn’t feel right, there’s no use forcing it. We’re excited to follow their route on social media and to see where their adventure takes them and we hope to meet them again somewhere soon.
Best bangs in sailing!
Thank you, Dan. That’s a very big compliment considering the competition. 😉

HaHa. Nice input. Yes, if we do end up crossing the Atlantic with MAKANI, we will bring a lot of extra varnish. 😅
Genießt erstmal das Mittelmeer. Es ist nicht überall schön, aber es gibt genügend UA-camr, die ihre Erfahrungen teilen und gute Tipps geben.
Wir sind schon gespannt und freuen uns riesig darauf! 🥳

That’s very sweet, guys! We hope to see you on the Balearics soon. Cannot wait. 🥰

Thank you, Victor for your kind thoughts about our decision. We really think it was a good one. 🙂 Greetings from MAKANI. ⛵️
If it didn't feel right, it wasn't right. Period! Good decision.
Thanks, Ron. It’s good to go with whatever your gut tells you. Works (mostly) every time! 🙂
Never an easy decision but I think everything you have said makes sense. Good things take time. Love you adventures and channel .. don't give up ;-)
Thank you, Alistair! So happy to have you on board. 😊

Great! That would be fun. Although getting to Croatia might take a while. There’s so much to explore along the way! 😜 Good luck with the projects!
Lanzarote look like it could be the moon surface
It totally does! Such an odd looking place. So happy we got to explore it!
