Something I notice not many people saying is that while weight addition does work and is primarily meant for 2WD vehicles, its also a meathod meant for wet conditions, not snowy/icey conditions. When wet tires lose traction easier when there's a lack of weight over the drive wheels because water won't be forced out from in between the tread and road surface quite as easily leading to more frequent hydroplaning. Snow at the end of the day will still clog tread and ice simply doesn't care about your tire type in the first place.

Run about 28psi or even 10psi In these conditions

4LO gives you low end torque allowing your vehicle to give more power at low RPMs. Allowing you to have faster acceleration. The problem being... your tires are spinning too fast causing you to lose traction. Always use 4HI when it's slick out. 4Lo is intended for going through mud.

This is a really dumb comparison. A pickup truck has very little weight on the rear tires compared to the SUV. For a fair comparison you need comparable vehicles.

the truck has 128 inch wheel base and weighs 4000lbs the lexus weighs 5600 lbs with 112 inch wheel base you could switch tires and the lexus will still make the hill....

4 Low is part of the problem also. It's going to spin out a lot easier in lo range than it would in high. High range and the transmission in 2 so it starts in second gear and you would have a better chance since it would take a lot more power to break the tires loose. Even then though the tires are the weak point.

Tires matter yes, but... Land Cruiser also weighs more than the truck with weight distributed across both drive sets. Truck is light on the bed and that causes the front diff to hunt so you can see it on your side slip up hiill.
