I have every colour of the Gansai Tambi, and I love them all. These are amazing for abstract. I saw someone on you tube, paint sea creatures with these and they were astonishing. I wish I could remember her name. These paints are fun and useful.
I have s friend that has been in the hospital, I wanted to make her a special card. You just gave me the perfect inspiration! I love your channel, to have learned so much from you. Thank you.
@@virginiamckenzie6799 Glad I could inspire you. Wishes for a Speedy recovery for your friend.
12:23 Thrift stores are THE BEST place to get white ceramic dishes you can use for watercolors (or other paints too.) I have a few and if you can find white deviled egg dishes or other white divided dishes, those are good too!
@@nancyloomis3046 yes! I don’t have a deviled egg dish yet but always have my eyes open for them!
I do use professional or occasional high-quality student grade art supplies now for my fine art work. But some months back, just for kicks, (at different times) I ordered (Amazon) Shuttle Art Dot Markers... water based. They are so fun. Then I got a 48 color set of gel crayons from King Art...beautiful rich colors. Then also from Shuttle Art, I got a set of the prettiest tempera color sticks in soft pastel colors (these will layer but dry quickly so they don't blend.) I try to make myself "play" with them (or some other supplies) when I just can't get into a fine art project and need some creativity mojo or "art therapy." And if something is really good, I can scan the art and sell the prints if I want. It's a win-win. Thanks for sharing!❤
@@nancyloomis3046 I agree with the scanning and selling prints opening up so many fun options to play with and explore without worrying about lightfast qualifies.
Best tip is after you go through your process to use dots of paint and live with it a little bit. So you can change your mind easily without wasting Paint. Then you can graduate to blobs to make it easier to grow if you decide to change out colors if the companies make changes or add new colors. I don’t have many colors yet, but what I do is make a swatch and cut them out, on the back. I write what it is and brand and details like might fast, transparency, and granulation. One day if I get a big pallet like that after I’m satisfied with how it’s laid out, I will make a swatch the same size or a little bit bigger for each side. Color swatch, and key on front & name, brand and pigment info on the back and then “laminated“ with clear, packing tape. So when I paint I can just set them out along the edges outside the pallet. I store my little individual cut out swatch pieces inside the box of tubes, for planning any future travel, pallets, or shearing with a friend. I would be tempted to put the opera and Alizerine crimson in plastic pans them in that corner of the mixing area. They definitely have a place there too beautiful to exclude completely. I do like the way you used the opera like a red flag in front of the alizarin. I know I would forget and naturally be drawn to that red. I love how you were able to use the centerline to connect your ultramarine blue to your burnt sienna. i’m so glad you made this video walking us through this. My brain would not have thought of grouping granulating. Now I need to decide which is more important to me, granulation or transparency/opaque. I originally thought cool on the left warms on right. You definitely gave me more to think about while I’m still learning about my preferences, and each paints characteristic. Congratulations on your new pallet! It definitely says “come play with me”.
It really is a process setting up a palette. Each one is different and I find as I use a palette I sometimes find what I thought was the best setup morphs a bit.
Thanks for sharing your thought process. Yes, please more on Shinhan.💡TIP: for big palettes, I do small swatches that I can move around. I have "commitment issues" about pouring paint that I cannot move 😂. I would not include fugitive colours in mine. I am afraid I will forget it's there 😮 I'd probably pour a dot of it in a half pan and use some poster putty to add it to the big palette, if I really want it. Since Shinhan has so many colours, it would be a shame that a non fugitive colour takes place of a other colour (PBk11) that I really want. Thanks for this! BTW that box looks great!
I could not find a PBk11 by them.
Thanks for sharing. I never really thought about separating the cooks and the warms in each color.
You're welcome!
Yes!
Yes to more ShinHan PWC?
@ClarkFineArt yes sorry I wasn't clear
Yes please more on Shinhan PWC. Thank you.🦋
REQUEST: Angela, if you could Frankenstein an ultimate mixing pallet, what would be in it? Bonus if the pallet concentrates on mixing granulated colors. 😊 please and thank you 🌻
It would be interesting to use the top larger wells as a split primary. Maybe warm colors on the left a d all the cool colors on the right. I need to buy that pallet!!!
I love metallics on black paper. The colors really pop.

I missed this yesterday, so glad to be able to catch up. Swatching is always interesting. It seems Meeden is doing a marketing blitz...these colours are popping up all over my feed. I like the tin!
@@berolinastrassmann the case is very nice!

My first time seeing this video Angela! This and the painting were great! I have no idea how you did all the special effects. I especially liked the glowing jack-o-lanterns. Enjoy Halloween.

Which are staining?
Your staining colors in this set are: Green Gold, Prussian Blue, Indian Red, Autumn Orange, Quin Violet, and Dioxazine Violet. I hope that helps. There are other colors that are semi staining. You can see their color chart for this set with all the information on pigments, opacity, and staining ability on their website www.mijello.com/156/?idx=24 just select the english version of the site and scroll down until you get to the color chart. Hope you find this useful.
While I love Daniel Smiths and have several, I still enjoy mixing dupes using Mission Gold Pure Pigment set. One tip: get a bottle of the QoR Aquasol and put just one drop into each pan of Mission Gold. They will burst and spread like Daniel Smith!
That's a great tip - I'm going to give it a go!
Love the ashtray
Thanks
Beautiful painting you make it look so easy. That maroon is so gorgeous I had to add it to my cart😅. “Mind of Watercolor “ is who got me hooked on M Graham watercolors (and the price/value). Great bang for your buck. I’m endlessly impressed watching you mix colors and talk about the different properties and how they differ from each other’s and when to choose one over another. It helps to narrow down which colors are more important for my limited budget/personal preference. Knowing a great single pigment mixing workhorse from a “vanity” color is important for me. Even more important with today’s prices. Thanks for a great lesson and demonstration.

Making cards is right up my alley Angela. Drawling pumpkins this time of the year is nice too. I really like your mini box for your Daniel Smith watercolors! 💥 Someone in the chat asked the question, “If certain colors are ACTUALLY more intense.” - They may have been referring to Diox. Purple, Phthalo Turq. etc. The answer is YES! If ANY company uses high- end materials, (as QOR ) and are consistent in the RECOGNIZED METHOD of formulation, (such as watercolour paints) the end product’s compound will always be of high standard. • I suppose it goes without saying that some companies do NOT follow the highest recognized method of formation, thus their product is inferior.
QoR is definitely a top quality watercolor.
