Just wondering....If at some point you decided that the Meeden tripod was just too lightweight for out in the field, could you remove the quick connect plate (that's for a camera) and superglue to the back of the painting panel and then be able to use it with any other regular tripod? But then you would need to know that the painting shelf would fit on any tripod, or is its shape dedicated to the Meeden tripod alone? Of course, you would end up paying the $70 for the two white plastic parts, but at least you would be able to use them on a sturdier tripod. Thanks for demonstrating this plein air setup!
You probably could glue a quick connect that is for a larger tripod but then the slots on the shelf part are smaller to accommodate the lightweight tripod. I had it out at the beach this week in Acadia National Park and it did pretty good. I was able to press the legs into the sand slightly and it did not move, I had no issues with it. I will be using it more before I form my final opinion, but I enjoyed painting with it on Thursday.
@@ClarkFineArt Thank you for your prompt response. I was just concerned about the tripod being unstable or flimsy. The reviews on Amazon were mixed. I also had wondered that the shelf slots would too small, so you have answered that for me. I would really love having something like this setup because I do a lot of painting outdoors and I'm tired of sitting on a rock or such, and holding my paper & board on my lap with my water and other materials sitting on the ground LOL Although I did manage to paint my way around Ireland that way. LOL It would be so nice if after you have used it a bit more, could you give us an update on how satisfied you end up being with it. Thanks again!
@@eirenmist12 yes absolutely. It is lightweight which makes it easy to travel with and carry. The surfaces are large for a bag they just fit in my messenger bag.
Seriously though, tips on what to pack and how always catch my attention. Everyone has a different way of doing it, so it’s something that everyone can learn something from each other. This Meeden set-up looks awesome, I might have to get one!
I find the space between the shelf and the easel/painting surface to be a " long ways away"...cn't see my arm being that long...sitting on a chair...with that table part there...and the easel way up in the air? Ya...I don't like that the height is fixed for the table part.
You could just use the top part and adjust the tripod to whatever height you would like and put the table on a different side to use as a shelf to store or things perhaps, but there are many great options available and you should be able to come up with a setup that works for you.
Yes please show what you pack!
Ok I will have to record it when I am packing up for my next outing.
Pretty cool little easel! Thanks for sharing.
Would love to see what's in your bag. 😆
I definitely will record it.
What a great setup! Way to go Meeden!
I am looking forward to using it !
Oh wow that looks so nice!
Yes, I can't wait to use it and get a good painting session in and see how I feel about it then.

I will work that in. I'm planning on getting some painting time in soon so I will record as I get set up to go.
