Doing less to do more!!! YES !!!! Get me out of this 9-5 daily grind! ✌🏼
In the schooling system this will be hindered…., no , in the schooling system we had it beaten out of us, and now have severe ptsd as a result. Big shout out to the survivors. Thank you for putting it so eloquently. ❤
So happy to find this!
Loved this.
Again another amazing episode.....packed with such important and impactful information....thank you Nancy for your dedication to our community.
Good video, but slightly flawed statement by your guest, when she says there might have been 4 or 5 neurodivergent kids in a classroom coping with school in the 80s and 90s. That isnt true at all. There was PLENTY of sensory assaults in the school system then. For a start the fluorescent lights, the harsh bell, the screaming , rushing noise of people everywhere, the cigarette smoke permeating spaces outside the staff room, the school dinners being cooked, the smell of weird and probably now banned disenfectants..... And that's before anyone gets started on appalling teachers and bullying from other kids... . That's why there's a high amount of gen xers who have trauma and substance issues because of being undiagnosed and being forced to cope in just as noisy and sensory assaulting school environment as today. School is a terrible place if you're neurodivergent and not able to have any adjustments.
It's almost like constantly being overwhelmed might have knock on effects on how one is able to engage with life.
I adore the energy from both of you. The hope, the logical reality of our future and the kinds of people that we are. How we are the best candidates to get ourselves out there. Thank you for your wonderful attitudes.
I didn’t go to school between year 7 and 9 - I only went for gcse because I was told I’d never get a job. Even with that I was exactly the same I was late 30s before I was any where near my level of job. Now I’ve had a hysterectomy at 42 I feel like I’ve gone backwards- 10 year waiting for assessment for neurodivergence
Thank you for such a great video. This is my tribe ❤
The Genius finder is £42. It used to be free. I’m all for charging business for corporate services but how are individuals who are under employed or unemployed supposed to afford this? And employers won’t pay for an individual to do the self assessment.
Agree. As an Australian there's no way. I'd love to access it, and I love everything in this video. It makes so much sense to me.
This makes so much sense. As a child of the 80s, yes. I barely made it through high school. I can’t imagine being a kid now. Can’t wait to watch this full episode. Thank you for articulating this so well 🙌🏻
I'm all for the self acceptance piece but the floordrobe... I just can't. It's a recipe for overwhelm and relationship ruin. There is an element of nonchalance there that I can't get on board with. Laughing at such behaviour is delusional. Maybe I have issues. Help me understand this atttitude.
I have Audhd, Dyscalculia and moderate ME/CFS. As much overwhelming shame and guilt I feel about myself for not having a job, I openly admit that my mental and physical health is always at its best when I'm not working. I found this out by having various jobs and periods of unemployment in the past. There isn't a day that goes by where I don't wish that I have the brain and body to do a full time job. It's a hard pill to swallow.
@ShudBstudyinRN Have you ever had the opportunity to work part time? I know how hard holding down a FT job is with ADHD, and possibly autism (as yet undetermined). I am fully aware that without medication, I could not do the job I do. It leaves me feeling like I'm always balanced on a knife edge, trying to keep myself from tumbling off. The NHS is effed, and it's only cause I have the job that I can afford to pay privately to have my "annual" reviews. 😂 I've not had an NHS review since I was diagnosed in 2018, but I am on the list. 🙄 Anyway, sorry about the rant. 😅 I was just wondering if you might be better off getting something part time, if your health is up to that, and if it doesn't eff up any benefits you might be on. Job or no job now, you've clearly tried really hard to manage living a "normal" life with a not "normal" level of difficulty and I don't think you need to feel guilty or ashamed in concluding that you're not able to work like people who don't have your rake of difficulties. Society sets a norm which we struggle with immensely.
@Not_a_number_ All of my jobs apart from one have been part time and they still burnt me out to the point of making active plans for unaliving. Even jobs I've really enjoyed and we're good at. Toxic environment and people forced me to leave, which is a shame. Yeah, living on benefits isn't fun or great for the self esteem, but I've accepted that without them I would either be homeless or dead. Accepting that my self worth is not tied to paid work is an ongoing issue I'm working on with my therapist but it's requiring a lot of deconstruction of indoctrination from childhood. I hope you are not kept too long on the list and life works out for you. How do you handle your job? Does it fit with your needs and accommodate you?
Have you considered self-employment? I'm 69, so went through the school and work system years before Nancy, when it was probably a bit easier to survive it. But I became pretty much unemployable when I was 30, and started my own business. It wasn't a great success, but I survived and had quite a good life, working long hours at home on my own, with some visits to clients for social connection, and freedom to pick my own hours so I could have time off during the day, and work when I felt like it. It's a shame I didn't discover my AuDHD until my working years were over, or I might have been able to have achieve more.
Miranda feels unsupported in her life I'm willing to venture. The same thoughts crossed my mind while reading both books they have out, but I was able to change it around to feel hopeful that one day I will also have an enormously supported partner like Rox does and they don't have to be neuro spicy either
My biggest problem with the unemployment crisis is whilst I can't find a job, a great deal of misery in my life has been caused by incompetent people who can't do their jobs properly.
I know that feeling!! Do you know what kind of work you're looking for?
And a passion for cocaine.
I was having so much suicidal thoughts 10 years ago as a teenage, also suffered severe anxiety and mental disorder. I got diagnosed with ADHD, spent my whole life fighting ADHD. Not until my wife recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment changed my life for better. I can proudly say i'm totally clean for 6 years and still counting. Always look to nature for solution to tough problems, Shrooms are phenomenal.
I love hearing great life changing stories like this. I want to become a mycologist because honestly mushrooms are the best form of medicine (most especially the psychedelic ones) There are so many people today used magic mushrooms to ween off of SSRI medication- its amazing! Years back i wrote an entire essay about psychedelics. they saved you from death buddy, lets be honest here.
Can you help me with the reliable source 🙏. I'm 56 and have suffered for years with addiction, anxiety and severe ptsd, I got my panic attacks under control myself years ago and they have come back with a vengeance, I'm constantly trying to take full breaths but can't get the full satisfying breath out, it's absolutely crippling me, i live in Germany. I don't know much about these mushrooms. Really need a reliable source!! Can't wait to get them
YES sure of mycologist Pedroshrooms. Mushrooms literally got me off my feet and turned my whole life around. I am currently a housing manager for a recovery program. I wouldn't have been able to do that shit without psilocybin.
I'm so very happy for you mate, Psilocybin is absolutely amazing, the way it shows you things, the way it teaches you things. I can not believe our world and our people shows less interest about it's helpfulness to humanity. It's love. The mushrooms heals people by showing the truth, it would be so beneficial for so many people, especially politicians and the rich who have lost their way and every other persons out there.
Where do I reach this dude? If possible can I find him on Google
Exactly this. I'm also a hermit now which suits me much better. You've done amazing getting out of that Rox
You both are beautiful humans!
This was a great podcast to stumble onto, one thing that would really help though would be to put a amazon link to their book in the description, I needed to flip back and forth after watching to find the name of the book so I would buy it.
Oh wow, im not alone. Ive always been told I was negative and to just be quite. I totally understand this
I just want to be able to get a job and keep it and not struggle with it or want to kill myself because of it
It's so weird, because it just makes me "normal" and in the UK it's sooo hard to get legally atm. I have to call 30+ pharmacies
Girl i was an alcoholic too and i get mean. My sweet dad was the same. He took his life last saturday and i havent accepted yet. But ik all about the depression, self hatred, stemming(i twirl my hair since i was 4 actually and rip it out) ummm they jus help me so much. We have so much in common. I love u guys so much. I DONT drink jus smokr green.
Do you have tendered/contracted prison operators in the UK? If the answer to that is yes, then you also have the answer to who benefits by not diagnosing and treating people.
Beautiful interview with another amazing Neurospicy game changer! 💞♾️💞
I’m a psychotherapist. I also work as an addiction therapist privately as well as in rehabs and treatment centres. I spent years in active addiction and served time in prisons. I got diagnosed with acute anxiety and ADD at 53 years of age. It explained a lot. I make up from what I see is that 50% of persons with the 'Illness of Addiction' also suffer with ADD or ADHD. It’s interesting because, to me, it’s clearly obvious that 'The illness of Addiction' is a completely separate diagnosis from ADHD. They appear similar, but are not the same. I can believe that 80% of prisoners have ADHD. It makes complete sense. I hope this is listened to by the right people. Great pod guys.
I wish my partner has this kind of interest to know my AuDHD. It’s complicated, and most of the complication isn’t about me, but it’s still hard. I appreciate seeing you both fighting for accommodating each other, going toward your strengths, and honoring your challenges.
Thank you for explaining this for everyone else
I have ADHD, unofficially but score 64 out of 73 on a recognised ADHD test. I don’t think I have Bipolar but I am going through menopause which can cause similar symptoms with emotional disturbances etc. If I want help with my ADHD I require an official diagnosis but I can’t cope with the stress that this could bring due to my menopause impacting my stress, mood, irritability etc. There is next to no extra help for women like me who have spent years unknowingly masking ADHD that was written off as being ‘ditsy’ forgetting, daydreaming, being lazy, awkward and difficult. Women like me should be able to get fast tracked to get help as part of their menopause treatment. Your masking ability drops, your mental health plummets, you honestly feel like you’re going mad in a world where people can’t figure out what you’re telling them. I would love to see a coming together of Heston with someone like Davina McCall to talk about both ADHD and Menopause along with bipolar etc as together I think they could highlight where changes need to be made for people with multiple conditions. I also think that it would be in the interests of this channel to host it as it would bring it to more peoples attention. I have only just discovered it and wish I would have found it sooner.
I am not surprised....kinda thought something was really amiss years ago.
Wow, what a great video. Big respect to Heston for being open and honest about his challenges with his mental health. As someone who also has ADHD, I can completely understand some of the difficulties he faces on a daily basis.
This was an incredible interview.
I relate so much with her!!!
Well... That's him Fucked..
Thank you
Is the lady free for a date 😍
I heard that 20000 thing echoed all over, but never a source. Is this a real thing? Where is it from?
I have ADHD, I am very insulted by this, my parents were not undiagnosed with it and did not have addiction problems. I hope the next time you go for a shit that it's a hedgehog and comes out backwards!
Did you go to jail?
Does this apply to ADD as well..? 😢
ADD and ADHD are not considered to be the same illness. (At leats in the US) It's now all under the term of ADHD but it's differentiated by type. ADD would most likely be the intensive type. So, yes. It also applies to ADD.
@zessonateacloud They told me ADD is like ADHD but without the hyperactivity (H). But I don't know. I do recognize myself in what she is saying though.
@@linuskarlsson9449 Essentially it's the same. But I think it depends on the country if they call it the same or two different things. ADHD things should totally apply to you. Some of course morw than others but that's normal for every illness. I was also diagnosed with ADD over twenty years ago and I normally tell everyone I have ADHD because that's what people know. (Also I'm not sure if my country conderes them the same so that's a bit confusing)
@zessonateacloud Thank you for your respons 🙏❤️
I had no idea. I hope you’re feeling well and strong mate.
This is the first video that I have watched on your channel, you are a wonderful interviewer. Subscribed and look forward to watching your previous videos 😊❤
He’s not slurring his words. The meds have slowed his brain down, they do that. Play back at 1.5… there is no slurring
It is not just a simple fact, but one that is true from many different perspectives. Here, lives are being trampled on and lied to from top to bottom. Here, human rights are being violated from start to finish. This makes people afraid and a friend of mine was tortured with electricity in a psychiatric hospital in my country after the Second World War... As a friend, you have to process something like that yourself when you are told something like that. I have many friends with FASD and, because I had to deal with it, I have a lot of experience in the legal system, inevitably. Those at the top, if they carry on like this, they've got a real screw loose. It will backfire, like in Gaza, Save, the children there were just fed up with the oppression and groups like that harmonize with each other through drug use, which also causes unrest in the normal population. So, if they don't become fairer now, it will really be uncomfortable for all of us on the whole planet. It all contributes directly to the balance, whether anyone wants to believe it or not.
I am researching these effects directly... My depression is getting worse and I immediately had to fight back tears. I can feel it and imagine it very, very well. I also have stories to tell to rightly criticize the authorities. I fully support such statements, it is a worldwide problem. I know people here who were tortured with electricity! Here in Germany! Hier in Deutschland!
I have no idea why this video has not gotten the views like other guests. Such a good episode, and what an articulate lady. Loved it. Thankyou
I hate that this clip starts out with the outdated idea that ADHDers get into trouble because we're so impulsive and don't think of consequences. Whereas the second problem that she talks about is much more pervasive AND something that allows and requires action from outside. People with ADHD are not getting the help and support and tools that help us to succeed. Because we're only just now figuring all of that out. Because many of us were either not diagnosed until later in life (because the formal descriptions written by neurotypicals based on their interpretations of what it looks like on the outside are so different from what it feels like on the inside) or are raised with a completely inaccurate and unhelpful self image and coping mechanisms (again because we got handed tools and explanations from a neurotypical perspective that actually don't match our own needs and talents). So if we or our parents don't figure it out, we either implode (often invisibly, because nobody cares if it's just us) or we explode (and then we get blamed for everything and put in jail). Or, like most of us, we just quietly struggle through life. Invisible in the statistics, both in our successes or our failures. ADHD kids need help, need insight, community, and tools that fellow ADHDers have tried and tested and found to work. Not advice from neurotypical people that doesn't work for us, and then judgement if it doesn't work for us. So that the men end up isolated or in jail, and the women end up ill or in abusive relationships. There are systemic problems with diversity, that is the problem. Those systemic problems result in maladjusted traumatised adults who have tried a million times and still get blamed for everything. Who get the message: you can't do anything right, so why aren't you doing anything right. That is the problem. Not us ADHDers being impulsive or not thinking of consequences. Plenty of us are not criminals, are not in jail. And even we are struggling every day. But we struggle a lot less on the right medications (which are almost impossible to get because neurotypical people seek them out as recreational drugs), with the right tools (which can still only be found in community spaces), and with the right people. And especially that latter category is still exhaustingly difficult to find. The category of people who look at systemic problems and don't blame the marginalised people but want to change the systems instead.
Juicing celery, the heavy metal detox smoothie, soups, salads, fruits, veg, herbal teas, real honey, real maple, mejool dates, mushrooms, fresh herbs, spice, roots, these are healing and cleansing, eggs, dairy, grains, sugar, pork, coffee, alcohol, fizzy drinks are all not healthy, grow in health and heal the gut.
They them demand we call them what they them want to be called. Then they turn around and impose CIS on us. There is and never has been a CIS human being.
