When John Hassall STOPPED singing in The Libertines
Hey. I just realised. The Man who came to stay by Babyshambles is actually Nicked from Thick as theives by the jam. Can you do a video comparing them?
And I imagine Pete Doherty got the “Wasteland” Name from the jam song, wasteland
The melody's are nothing alike? Slight comparison with the music maybe
@@22grandpod I mean the start. The bass and the guitar Getting Lourdes and louder
That’s not what Kele told me happened. He actually fucked Matt off. Said the guy was so negative and was technically holding everyone else back. Kele says ultimately he did him a fat favour!
Didnt realise he did The Paddingtons album cover, proper mint that. Love it 😃🤗😍
Late to the party here forgive me. Truly glorious interview!
Briliant interwiew :)
Loyalty Song from DIA 🫶🏻
The Cribs were always underrated. You Were Always The One is one of my fave Cribs tunes. Hopefully it will return back to their setlist again in 2025. Arctic's always had great b sides on the 1st few albums - my fave is Settle For A Draw on When Sun Goes Down (Scummy Man) single. Loved Clor - got played loads at our local indie night. Here are a couple more underrated bangers Tom Vek - I Aint saying My Goodbyes. The Sunshine Underground - Borders The Rakes - Retreat or We Are All Animals, We Are Scientists - This Scene is Dead
The audio quality being bad was one thing but the mouse clicks were pretty inexcusable 😂
Some genuine contenders - All Mapped Out by The Departure, How It All Went Wrong by Les Incompetents, The Grid by To My Boy.
the basslines on that departure album are serious
It's mad how many bands in this era wrote absolutely fire bsides at their peak, but now their albums are mid at best. In hindsight They should have saved them up for future albums.
I'm convinced all the Far Out articles are written by AI. The writing and research is always dreadful.
Flakes by Mystery Jets is a great song by any standards
I don't mean to be unkind but I think the first red flag with this article is that it suggests "Indie" was born of the 2000s. Even the most cursory google search will tell you the sound emerged in the 80s. Some of the selections feel a bit lackluster but then I guess it depends on who this article is aimed at. For instance I totally agree that "Date With the Night" was one of YYY's early calling cards, I've no idea if teen/early twentysomethings have heard of it. As per your suggestion, I'd have had "Love+Pain" by Clor but also "Busy Doing Nothing" by Love is All
One could argue Edwyn Collins invented it.
Crystal Stilts any tune but Love Is a Wave ultimate low key banger
Couple of things: 1. What Katie Did wasn’t written about Kate Moss. What Katy Did Next was written about Kate Moss. 2. Choo Choo wasn’t an Arctics bside, it was unreleased. Great podcast, enjoying it 👍
what katie did: katie lewis
Lucy's articles are always 'flimsy' Special Needs were an overlooked band & yet i'm almost glad as that way they shall always remain a band you can discover yourself.
Please note: I wasn't IN Special Needs.
I agree to and extent, now do your own list video! :) here for it
Enjoyed. Can we put to bed once and for all...The Kooks were shit 😂
Good tunes but their lyrics are abysmal.
I'm in the video for Naive for about 2 seconds
This is absolute golddust, fantastic stuff thank you for posting 😊
Bit odd seeing fleet foxes classic folk pop psychedelia mixed in with all that post punk/ britpop influenced indie.
Wonder what she's up to now
I'd put Patrick and Gemma on stage for the Down in Albion songs then switch for the later albums.
Also, this guy looks like he's auditioning for a role in Worzel Gummidge: The Crack Years
He’s true to himself
They released the majority as a Christmas present for people on their fan club mailing list in 2007(?). It's been safe on a hard drive for two years for me
just two more years to hold on for the rest of us?
Can’t believe how much they sound like the early days Strokes, compared to later years festivals. Great performance! Have been putting off this video because I thought it was one of the bad performances.
I wouldn't go around saying you booked their first London shows. That's like telling people you helped Josef Fritzl build his basement.
he was a nice guy and paid cash in hand! hard worker!
@@sevendaughtersAs an added bonus, he also had absolutely nothing to do with the Pigeon Detectives. I'm sold.
ooh they worked hard, well let me subject myself to their ear piss then!
I will always remember one of the nights at The Scala where a 90 odd year old lady was carried up the stairs in a wheelchair to watch from the balcony. I can only assume it was Pete’s nan…
Saw them at nambuca, they were alright, no worse than most of those 00's landfill bands.
well if that isn't high praise I don't know what is!
They were awful and that's that.
As awful as this blokes facial hair?
How long you been off the booze mate
Over 18 months now
@22grandpod good effort
@22grandpod feel better for it ?
Yeah cheers mate
favourite libs song
Letter to my son
Just having a quick flip through my CDs :Tulips, The Marshalls Are Dead, Staying Fat, The Answer, Always New Depths and Positive Tension; none too shabby!
Could you try to get Doherty's band manager to do an interview? (Or I think he is his stage maanger, he sometimes even play the guitar during gigs)
Hey guy, you heard of adblocker?
Dancing Jesus crew, are you out there ;D
Once and future king, tulips, rhododendrons, cain said to Abel etc
I recall this fan collated collection, it was amazing. Easily better than later albums
Peter does have a new Solo record it’s about 80/90% finished when I caught up With him last December in Margate after the two Albion room weekenders he was staying on for a few days to do some recording for it. No pot of Gold will be one of the songs on the album. 3/4 have already been debuted at a Paris show last year. The album is on the back burner tho after all the libertines touring and the shambles stuff later next year
haha can't beat a bit of drama, will have to wait another week (in the city)
Just put them all on vinyl. Streaming sounds awful even with the masters
Has to be one of the most nostalgic Libertines songs. Always takes me back to 2005/06. Another one I never him do is Breck Road Lover, I absolutely love that one and Sheepskin Tearaway off his solo album. It be interesting if he had another go at a solo album, he made it the other side of the gate and it sure didn’t look likely. Must be more like his old man than he realises!
East of Eden also great. Those early sessions are pretty unbeatable tbf
Yeah and Skint and Minted
I think people really want a crazy reason for him to leave. Like the band had fist fights over stupid shit but Matt was just tired, yeah sure they had some issues everyone has issues with their job / coworkers but Matt just left because he was done. Love BP I remember hearing them in HS in 2003
Revisionist history, you used to champion this nonsense, and kill off the NME
Last libs gig I went to was hull Paddington s supporting. One bar ! In the arena so some didn't have the chance to get a 2nd drink so some Moody vibes but good gig one security guy said 'not bothered if u have drugs' to someone, other guard wasn't pleased muttering
‘12 string out no worries’ was so Brenttttt 👏🏻 love it
Was not expecting you to sing. Nice one! If I had to pick a favourite from that album I’d pick ‘I have a friend’
Keeps on giving this intervew 😀🤗💖💯
Anyone elses neighbourhood cats start howling from the 2 minute mark onwards. . . ??? 🙀
