The Best Budget Action Camera Of 2023!
Переглядів 47 тис.Рік тому
The best budget action camera of 2023 isn't a budget action camera at all. It isn't one of those #amazonfinds. Even though most peole are looking at the #akaso or other budget offerings, the best cameria is actually a #gopro. While the #hero10 and #hero11black are still quite pricey, the Hero 8 is a fantastic deal. It is the best action camera under $200!

can you tell the automatic settings of dji osmo action 4. without the use of d log?. I'm a beginner, so I want easier settings without having to edit
I was excited to see this review of an Akaso camera, unfortunately Im in Australia and on searching this up its actually no longer a budget camera as it costs up to $500. Might as well get a gopro
Was going to get a cheap camera but after watching your videos I most definitely gonna save up for a DJI thank you!!!
The action 4 is currently only £199!!
Good evening, old guy and complete newb to tech wondering if this would work mounted to my ATV riding rough terrain. Would the video be shaky or stabilize and be usable? Cheers from Ontario
Anyone?...
You got yourself a sub
More than 2 yrs later ...do you think the Action 3 is still the best affordable cameras for beginners? . Im like your videos & music
Channels like this are absolutely needed...good work brother
Ugly trumpet flares in both day and night shoots, if it’s a real pro they should have solved that issue as Ace Pro and GoPro do a much better job there.
GoPro at night 😅😅
It is improved over the Action 4 however
@@nashuplays5319 daytime flares, I know you don’t have to count on GoPro for low light.
Thanks! This is what i needed
Run it downhill on some ruff stuff not just walking around lol
Q..... are you able to mute background noises on these cameras and just keep the speech...does such a setting exist ? Cause clearly I'm not playing with all the settings
It doesn’t have the sort of ambient noise reduction that certain mobile phones have. However, they do a good job of focusing on the subject in front of them. I’ve never had a problem with background noise. If you use the wireless microphone and you’ll really be in good shape.
Bruh I was looking at the video quality because my friend doesn’t want to spend a crazy amount of money on a real GoPro, and I was like “hopefully the brave 8 is like 129 bucks” I went on Amazon and it’s 400 dollars 😂😂😂 just buy a real GoPro at this poibt
❤
What microphone do you recommend for this?
What microphone do you recommend using this camera?
nice video
Thanks for watching!
4:20 it's pronounced "cunnilingus" then her reply would be: "you can buy as many tires as you want" LOL
Great no nonsense review, love it. Observation, the video image quality (frame 1:36) compared to that of your review on DJI Osmo Action 4 (frame 6:17), while driving in your truck, seem to be a bit better on contrast, color depth, gray scale and sharpness.
Great no nonsense review, love it. A side note, the video image quality (frame 6:17) compared to that of your review on Akaso Brave 8 (frame 1:36) while driving in your truck, seem to suffer a bit more on contrast, color depth, gray scale and sharpness, kind of a bit washed over.
Waste of time review. Wind Noise Kills everything that might be good. Let me know when you find one that has NO wind noise.
Would you go for the brave 8 or dji action 3? Looking to buy my first action cam!
Action 3 for sure
HOLY 2:20 minute intro Batman!
Hahahaha! I got creative and more creative and then it was just plain long. Sometimes I enjoy the script writing too much 😅
Great review, I'm not into cameras that much and usually just take photos with my mobile device. However, I bought one of these to record some driving videos whilst in Kefalonia recently, as I didn't fancy strapping my mobile to the roof of the car, Lol. I must admit I was extremely surprised and very pleased with the results from the Akaso Brave 7. I'm very pleased that I didn't pay out for a GoPro, as this camera was more than perfect for me at a fraction of the price.
Thanks for watching and yes depending on the situation something like the Brave 7 is more than enough!
how to edit from the raw video
Can you recommend a reasonably priced action camera ($100-$200) with good night vision. I can't find any, yet I can find a plethora of dashcams with excellent night vision for under $100. Very strange
Action cameras are going to be bad at night. Full stop! Low light is not their forte
This vs the akaso v50x. I dont mind saving more to get the brave 8 but if i can save a bit of money id go with v50x but i need second opinions
You have a perfect voice for voice over work, before I looked I thought this channel probably had 1m subs, keep it up and its sure to blow up.
Hey, I really appreciate that!! Thank you very much for watching.
Excellent work and thank you for sharing!
Thank you for watching!
I am lost with all these versions, I am after a decent action camera for scuba diving. The only issues is I only dive 4 times a year. This seems to be a decent spec for the money, I just need to convince the wife haha. Thanks for the review.
Akaso ek7000 will do you proud. I have it and the v50x. It's an awesome camera.
So, I have the DJI Action3 in my cart ready to purchase (because of your great reviews) and on last minute read through the small print, I see that the Mimo App is not available in the Play Store and needs to be downloaded directly from their website. Then I come to find out that it's not compatible with my Pixel 7 Pro, which I see you are also using in this video. I'm I missing something here, or do you just not use the app? This seems like a huge disadvantage to me though there is very little information to be found online about this issue. This will be my first action camera, so I am wondering do I really need the app? Thanks!
This was great, thank you!
I have literally bought and returned 14 cameras from Amazon in this price range.....they always look like trash indoors and are never actually 4k. My solution was to just get a flash drive for my I phone, which is 1000 x better than any of these !
Yea no question but there are certain used cases for me that just make a phone impossible. Thanks so much for watching.
Great review,big help
Thanks so much for watching!
You said optical image stabilization. I only see electronic stabilization on the website. What am I missing?
Now it’s been a while but I BELIVE it had 6 axis motion sensor / stabilization but don’t hold me to it 😂.
Same audio problem, chipmunks are weird but after formatting the SD Card, no issues and a good value for bicycle trail rides and traffic security. Car drivers behave better when they think they're being recorded - even if they're not.
Yea they told me it was likely the SD card so I tried a couple different ones. Not sure what happened but glad it worked for you. I agree the video was quite usable. Thanks for watching.
@HeHasTheCamera check the camera's "about" info, If the code begins with an A, it's the current model and it works, well mine works fine. It's no GoPro, its not as crispy and the sound is weaker but with the external microphone its perfectly good. Hardly anyone looks at my UA-cam bicycling videos so I don't see the point of investing a bunch of money. I don't really care, I use it to archive my adventures and share it with my buddies. If I was getting more than a handful of hits on a tour video here in Europe, specifically Spain, I'd buy the best one available like a GoPro 12.
Another fine review video: well-paced, comprehensive but succinct and the photography is nicely composed. It probably doesn't hurt that most of the settings are familiar (the 91/15 interchange reminds me how little I miss that daily commute). I'm just about sold on this camera. One question, though: How does the image stabilization hold up when the camera is mounted on a bicycle, and how does that compare to something like the GoPro? Thanks. liked and subscribed
Bicycle or mountain bike? If you’re talking about a road bike, you’re not going to notice any difference whatsoever. I absolutely love this camera and both the Action 3 and Action 4 have been by go to device. However, I will say when mountain biking I take the GoPro and I do feel the stabilization is a bit better in really rough terrain. However the DJI is right there. Thanks for watching!
@@HeHasTheCamera Thanks for your response. From everything I've read and seen, it does appear that this camera is technically the best option among currently available action cameras. The fly in the ointment for me is, if I understand correctly, the absolute requirement to install the DJI app on a compatible cellphone. It is difficult to see a rational reason for that aside from DJI's self-interest; certainly not that of the consumer. (I believe GoPro has a similar requirement?) Also, to flirt with paranoia, DJI is among the targets in a proposed US ban on Chinese devices (specifically: their line of drones), the DJI app was removed from the Google Play store presumably for failure to comply with the TOS, and the broad concerns related to security when installing un-vetted apps from the PRC. I'm flipping mental coins regarding any purchase.

@@HeHasTheCamera Thanks for your response. It looks as if my reply from three weeks ago was never posted. I'll try a heavily condensed version: From everything I've read and seen, the DJI Osmo Action 4 does appear to be technically the best overall option. What I'm having difficulty accepting is, if I understand correctly, the absolute requirement to install the DJI app on a compatible cellphone to activate and, presumably, update the device. DJI is in the news regarding the future of some of its products in the US market and the camera app was removed from the Android store. Thoughts? (My application is road biking and hiking.)
I am not sure, but I feel as though the app can be downloaded from their website and installed manually by authorizing the phone to download apps outside the Play Store. This is a pure guess. You’d have to research. I have an iPhone 15 pro max but I seem to remember having it on my pixel 7 pro.
I have the Brave 8 LTE and the audio is not as clear. Talking behind the camera sounds muffled, but talking in the front is better. I’m thinking of getting the Brave 8, which cost a bit more than the LTE. Excellent review.
I will tell you that audio behind the camera is still worse. Yes you are correct. However I thought it was for sure usable. In my use case scenario, I’m concerned much more with the front facing audio.
It's only 50 bucks cheaper than the Hero 12 here, same on the used market (idk why they ask the same as stores ask for new). Might as well get the 12 then...
Yes agreed
I realize you made this video over a year ago, but do you remember the final video settings you were most happy with, especially for use on bike rides in the Florida sun?
I honestly don’t. Sorry.
@@HeHasTheCamera No worries, thank you for replying.
Think I'll try this one. Should be good enough for my mountainbike, will ne on asphalt most of the time. What5the battery life like?
Huh, no one mentions that you can not access the usb C socket when the camera is in its frame. I bought one for riding my motorcycle, expecting to be able to power it permanently or use the external microphone to avoid wind noise....no chance as you can't open the access flap when it's in the frame. A pretty poor design fault as there is an access hole in the right place....it just isn't quite wide enough. Having contacted Akaso, they replied and said I'm right and to remove it from the frame if I needed access to the usb C.....well duh.
Interesting. I suppose in most of my Used cases I never have a need for constant but your point is very well taken. It’s obviously easily corrected flaw..
Nope
Why do you slow the footage down, I want to see 'action' at high speed? why don't you go down a bumpy hill on a mountain bike, that would be a better test. I still don't know if this is what I need. I've already bought a cheap action camera and its frame rate is slow watching it back even though its supposed to be 60hz. I want to upgrade but unless I fork out for the most expensive I don't know what options there are.
Because everyone else does that. Literally hundreds of channels with a guy on a mountain bike shooting down a hill. I approach action cameras as a great “all around” alternative to a phone for everyone. Whether it’s a family vacation or a vlogger. My recommendation would be to find a used GoPro Hero 8. I STILL end up using it all the time.
I have an AKASO Brave 7 LE which is pretty good. I paid about $112.
Price of oa4 in usa 🇺🇸 and from india 🇮🇳 ❤
Nice review. I especially liked how you were able to show that on-camera mics are never even close to good enough. The audio is the most important part of any video and an off-camera mic is always required. This is true in all environments, but especially so outdoors. If you get yourself a nice 32bit mini recorder with lavalier microphone taped under your shirt your audio quality will go through the roof. All you need to do is sync the audio in post, which is a simple matter if you use the on-camera mic as a sync source. All the best.
I’ve used the Rode “VideoMic” NGT with the media mod on the GoPro’s and had really good luck with that.
Nice camera for outdoor vlog
Yes. My only issue is overexposure in some situations and white balance seems to be off at times. But it’s a good camera.
akaso brave 8 lite review please
Good idea I’ll take a look
The problem with Akaso is that they increased the price compared to the Brave 7, Which means they are now competing with an used Action 3, however they are closer to the original Osmo Action in terms of quality and features, but an used Action 1 can be had for 100 dollars so the Brave 8 is not that much of a good deal anymore. That and the fact that they do not let you forget they are a Chinese company by releasing a comical number of models, most of which are a step back from previous cameras
Very good observations and yes if I had to choose between the Action 3 and the Brave 8 for the same price I’d take the Action 3 all day. Thanks for watching!
Not even close
I would take the OG DJI Ozmo even if I had to pay full price for it.
yeah, I was sold on Akaso after seeing your Brave 7 video. Then I see the Brave 8 priced at £249! They just completely lost a customer by pricing so high (yes, that means I won't even now consider a Brave 7, although it is priced £159. Go Pro Hero 12 is £290.
Excellent take on the Brave 8 without any wishy washy over coating. Honest and direct with the goods to prove it. 👍🏻
Thanks so much for watching!
