Finished Eva Cardigan! + Entrelac Pillow & Knitting Mojo Chat
Hey besties! 💕 In today’s episode, I’m sharing my finished Eva Cardigan by Petite Knit (yes, it’s finally done!), giving you an update on my Bit by Bit Pillow, and talking about some knitting indecisiveness I’ve been feeling lately. I’ve been loving so many knits but can’t seem to get that casting-on spark! Anyone else in the same boat? 😅
I’m also diving into my recent spinning adventure with Fat Cat Knits fiber-heavily blue and purple-and let me tell you, it’s been a journey getting back into spinning after a long break (it’s a little messy, but we’re embracing it!). 🧶✨
Plus, I’m chatting about my plans for future knits like the Antique Filigree pattern and how I want to switch up the colorwork with three contrast colors instead of one-still stuck on the yarn choice, though! If you’ve knit this one, drop your tips below.
Grab your yarn and join the convo in the comments. I can’t wait to hear about what YOU’RE knitting, spinning, or working on right now!

    The colour of your Eva cardigan is so beautiful! I'm the opposite of you right now....I have so many patterns calling to me right now! On the weekend I finally cast on a Sidsel Hoivik pattern. I've been wanting to do one of her patterns for a long time, so when she had a sale on her kits on New Year's Eve, I finally ordered one. Something I want to try this year is to knit an illusion shawl. Have you heard of illusion knitting? Try using the advanced search on Ravelry to have a look.

    That colorwork is gorgeous! Love those colors with the mc you picked, wow! If there's any navy/mc/background within the colorwork you might consider the blue 4th option. Or even possibly use it for the edging/ribbing/bands as well, I usually go with my softest options for the cuffs, ribbing, anything that will be in close contact with my wuss skin areas lol

    I do get knitting decision fatigue on occasion now and I think it has something to do with having a LARGE cache of great sweaters already and not really having a NEED for a new piece. Once I identify a colour or a style that I can see fitting in my wardrobe then I get that excitement back and it's easier to choose from my considerable stash. I picture the resulting outfit and then can't wait to get started! I do love your projects so I look forward to seeing what you decide to do with the next colour work sweater. I have both those Rachel Illsley patterns in my queue, too, along with some Spincycle Ghost Ranch for the CC. Always an adventure!

    Love your Eva Cardigan, amazing color on you! For your Antique Filigree… and as a notorious Non Swatcher I can’t believe I’m writing this… maybe pick a small section of the colorwork and swatch with the 4 colors you’re debating? Could also try Stephen West’s wrap type swatch but I think a 6”d6” or so to try the pattern and see how the yarn plays might be a god kickstart and help you see the vision? 🧶 (p.s. I purchased the multi tool pen sets for stocking gifts at Christmas and they were a huge hit! Appreciate you sharing the list !)🧶Cher

    Lauryl! I’m so sorry to hear about the accident and that you’ve not been feeling well. Maybe you’re right to think that a small project or two is what you need. It might just be that your brain wants something smaller and easier for a minute. Your pattern selections are always gorgeous, but they do seem like they require a little extra thought. Wishing you some rest and ease!

    When I learned to knit entrelac ten years ago, one of the skills I picked up was knitting backwards. This is a great help when knitting entrelac as it eliminates the need to turn your work...a HUGE time saver. And so, for folks who hate to purl, you may want to consider learning to knit backwards. It's easy to learn and once you get into the rhythm of it, just as fast as your usual forward knitting. This may help you when you knit your next flat project (i.e. cardigan). 🙂

    My favourite knit this year was the Franky Sweater by Sandnes Garn. Kind of a sweatshirt feel to it. Very cosy. Twisted rib might annoy some but I got through it. Cast on a second one this weekend! Enjoyed the video! I will cast on the White Mountain Light for sure.

    It's so intresting how we are all different I loathe metal needles. They are too slippery. I prefer my cherry wood needles. Bought a whole interchangeable set. I use continental knitting style and I pick when I knit so I work close to the tip of the needles

    Good video! I really enjoy hearing about what you liked after having some of 5he things for awhile. It's always easy to see the new patterns coming put and want to jump into them. I looked and I have like...187 patterns in my Rav library. I think everyone is in the same kind of thinking this year. What do I already have and is what's new really better. Yes...use your stash! And send me your scraps! J/K I spent the whole video taking apart my first ever knit sweater. I feel really positive about it. I cant wait to clean and prep the yarn to knit it up again. I think I might make a champagne cardi. What do you think? The yarn is Hedgehog. DK. I think the pattern has mohair but I dont plan to use any. My honest only concern is the button band. I've never done one and watched a few videos but am nervous. Maybe make a swatch and just test run it? I forgot about your white mountains....I think I'm going to make that my actual next cast on. Yours is Perfect! I would wear it to death! I am still at a snails pace on my No Limits. My no limits must mean no limit on the micromanaging and time til its done. 😂

    I love your 3 day sweater, especially the pops of pink fluff 💕 I have the Danish version of the book, and I’ve been eyeing this for a long time, but I have been very intimidated by the bottom up construction (and because I’m still learning Danish and the pattern is def more a recipe), do you think this approach could work with a top down, in the round construction? The Lærke Bagger in me says to just try it, the scaredy cat perfectionist is trying to get a way out of it… Would love your advice

    • @westmaven
      @westmaven 13 днів тому

      It’s a basic raglan sweater so yes I do think it can be done, Lærke likes the bottom up because she likes the finished look of the neckbands of her sweaters this sweater doesn’t have a neck band, I would keep in mind that there is some flat knitting around the neck. The other thing you could do is make any raglan sweater pattern with a large gauge and just use the vibe of the three day sweater, I have seen people knit other patterns but put the Lærke bagger twist on it, I really hope this helps Mel, I can’t wait to hear what you decide 🖤

  • @thewoollycloset
    @thewoollycloset 14 днів тому

    Here’s a suggestion! You could try combination purling. You wrap the yarn on the purl side clockwise instead of anti-clockwise (which is the normal way). It’s easier on your hands. You do knit through the back loop on the right side though, so keep that in mind. It really helped me with a testknit that had loads of purling. Thanks for the calculator stuff, we’re going on a holiday in the UK, and now I can easily convert to euros! ❤

    I just love your 3day sweater, and hearing all about it 😊. I checked my calculator on my Samsung android, I do have a number of conversion charts! ....not currency though. My husband has a Google Pixel android, and he doesn't seem to have anything. Take care. I know that my anxiety level is through the roof lately. When I mentioned it to someone, they commented that we should remember that throughout the history of the world there have been difficult, scary, anxious times, and people made it through. Somehow, it strangely gave me a bit of comfort. I think what can make it worse is that in this day and age, we are bombarded with images, misinformation, etc., with social media that we didn't have years ago. On a brighter note...I have two rows and an icord bind-off to knit on my Garter Marler and it will be done! I'm loving this sweater more than I ever expected to ❤
