What is a riding season?
I, too, wear contact lenses. I have to wear "biker glasses" or the wind will dry out my contacts. How do you get around that?
I have been fortunate that my eyes or contacts drying out has never been an issue. Riding with the main visor open and just the sun visor down has provided me with enough wind protection that it doesn’t cause any issues for me.
They make a cardo adapter for the neotec 2 to make it acceptable for the card coms
You open the chin bar until it stops as you demonstrated, but there is another stop after that that holds it open. Open it fully then push back again and it will go to the "lock" position - that way it will not close accidentally. Hope that helps someone when riding with it open.
When the chin bar goes up, any camera is then useless. Any suggestions APART from mounting on the bike, as I much prefer a helmet mount? Cheers.
Say GO&R, I've been considering that Helmet and wondered about the weight and comfort. Your very complete review answered all my questions, thanks !
Now that the Neotec 2 has dropped to $600. I might ditch my Shoei RF-1200 Just because of this review.
I recently bought a Neotec 2 and like it a lot. The only thing that I can say negative would be it's a little to tight on my cheeks but that's just my problem. Great helmet.Great review.
I did bought exactly same helmet, I needed break in period.
I just bought my neotec 2 yesterday and as I went to leave to try it out for the first time my bike didn’t start and had to get picked up because of a fuel injector malfunction. So once my bikes fixed I’ll actually be able to test it out. I love the fit a feel so far though.
Great review. Thanks
I have the adhesive mount on my gt air 2 but didn't use the extra adhesion stuff 2 years 18k miles hasn't moved
Too bad the integrated is Sena, because Sena is trash. 😂
100%, big difference between “unboxing” & “review” Big pet peeve of mine when somebody calls it a review even if you’ve only worn it once, it’s impossible to call that a in my opinion.
I was using a LS2 Valiant and just bought the Shoei Neotec II. I may miss the 180 degree open feature but the Shoei feels better on at this point. This is my first Shoei, I have been an HJC guy. But I have used a bunch of different brands as I usually change helmets every two years. Thank you for this reveiw.
In all honesty, how much better, if any, is the Neotech ll compared to the LS2 that you had?
@furr666 the Neotec is more comfortable (for me which is different for everyone) but the build quality is also definitively more solid along with controlling noise. It was worth it for me and how I ride but a helmet as expensive as the Neotec may not be worth it for everyone.
Comes updated
Just bought the neotec 2…I have been wearing the rf-1200 for about 3 years. Like you I was on the fence about purchasing the neotec 2 mainly bc of price. I am a big fan of shoei and they are currently phasing out the neotec 2 so I got a pretty good deal on it. Thanks for the review!
I used a 3D printed Cardo adapter to attach my Cardo. So glad I did that. I have videos on my page for how I did it.
Came upon this video as I'm trying to sort out the wind noise on my Neotec 2. I own a full face Shoei that I love. I purchased this Neotec 2 and it is so loud with wind noise. I can have all vents closed and I can still hear and feel more wind noise than I think I should. I do wear ear plugs. I have a microphone inside each helmet for recording. This one is so loud it sometimes sounds like the mic is outside the helmet.
I'm using my second LS2 carbon Explorer, it's been a year. Never needed a helmet larger than XL. My LS2 is XXXL and still tight. Just barely enough room to fit a thin balaclava. The sun visor mechanism barely works, hasn't since new, on both of them. Still, the best helmet I've owned till now and I am now considering this helmet. I was not aware of the com mount adhesive, so I'll look into that. I had mine fall off the first helmet 3 x's while riding. I got a new com system (under warranty) with a hard mount that did finally got the helmet. Amazon replaced the first LS2 after a year for the fee of restocking.. no store can do that. I originally purchased at least five helmets to get the best size fit possible. No shipping fees either way. Hard to beat Amazon!
The intake at the top of the helmet, which looks like the hood scoop on a 2008 Shelby GT, doesn't close off with a complete seal and always causes turbulence. Put your finger over it to hear the wind noise it causes.
Just bought a Shoei Neotec 2 with SRL Mesh comm system. Only my second helmet after getting blown around in my Sedici Duale ADV helmet. It is quieter and can look around without setting sail! Stupid comfortable! Think I have a Shoei 2XL head!
Awesome review.... thank you.
Why the big red button....makes no sense makes it look ugly
Had a schubert c3 pro as my first helmet for about 4 years, then i lost like 20kg or so. The fitment wasnt really the best anymore and it was starting to be time for a new helmet anyway. Went for a shoei neotec 2 this time and I'll probably get another shoei when its time for a new helmet again ☺️👌
Obrigado ⚡️💫⭐️🪶🐺
After 5 min he still has not started to talk about the helmet. Not an interesting channel for me.
noisiest helmet in the world .pish
To me you missed one of the most important things wind noise? I have a LS2 Storm and man wind noise is bad in that helmet..
I've been using a Neotec 2 for about three years but when this one needs replaced I'll not buy another Shoei for one reason: the moronically bad visor attachment mechanism. I can change an Arai or Schuberth in less than 20 seconds; the Shoei is normally five minutes of fighting and pain. It's so bad I suspect that Shoei did it as a practical joke on its customers. It's really a pity because the Neotec 2 really works for me so long as I don't need to change the visor or take it off to do a complete cleaning.
Info starts at 6 mins
Great review im buying one !
Many UA-camrs are nothing more than paid shills that give worthless reviews. Its good to see a real review. I have two Shoei RF 1200's and a RF 1400.
Those all quiet helmets has one big flaw. Less oxygen more co2 while wearing them as they are more and more sealed. My last trip in Schuberth on autobahn miserable rainy day massive traffic unable filtering thru traffic so stuck for slow drive around hour. Start feel dizzy and catch myself that I still have visor fully lock. On the other hand if you crack open visor the helmet isn’t anymore quiet. Some one done this test on UA-cam already and proof that those so call quiet helmets are dangerous in certain situation
Take cheek pads out of helmet and put some weights on them to squeeze them, helps break them in very quickly..I have the blackout edition, very happy with it...
Cool video!
Can you crack the visor a tiny bit to get some air?
Neotech 3 is out next year (2024). Solid colors for the first half year or so, which is fine by me.
do you know if the valiant 2 has the city/defogging position on the visor?
I see you got a PackTalk on their. I’m thinking bout purchasing these two in conjunction. How is the fit of the PackTalk? Is it annoying due to the proprietary senna design? Or is it fairly good in the position it’s in?
No issues, the Packtalk is an easy fit.
too long talking about yourself
agreed completely. Very good information, but could be edited to half the length. Please get your points more quickly :-)
I have this helmet with the Cardo and love it enough to buy a second one for my wife!
100%. Wearing a Shoei RF1400 and love it, but would really appreciate the openness. Thanks for the review?
Just bought the Neotec 2. Wasn't happy with the reviews for the SRL systems, so for $50 more I bought the Sena 50S. Way better system for just a bit more. Haven't had a chance to test it out yet, but hopefully this week.
i think the neotec is a great helmet, with top vent open even on a very cold day, air flow is barely noticeable, front works fine i think its a bit noisy over 60mph i have the sea srl plugged in which works fine, although buttons hard to find when riding
Agv sport pro modular or neotec 2 modular? Which to buy?
I've had a Shark Evoline 2 for many years, and finally realized it was a size too small. I get serious pain in my forehead after just an hour. I was looking at the Neotec 2 at my local dealer and the XXL fit me perfectly. But that $799 price was brutal. I started looking around on the web, scouring daily for a good deal. I finally found an "open box" unit priced at $629, and they had a 10% off coupon making it $566. Since the dealer was out of state, there was no sales tax, and they're shipping it free. WHAT a BARGAIN! I can't wait to get it and add all my accessories. I feel like I got the best possible deal on a superb helmet.
nice to score a deal, it's the only way I can afford any toys
Suggest discussing shield and liner removal ease. And also ease of liner cleaning.
So when the chin piece is up you can't lower the main face shield and its sticking straight up in the air ? Thats stupid . The valiant chin piece folds all the way back out of the way and you can lower or raise the face shield .
I normally wear a large, but I have tried numerous Shoei helmets in large, and they have hurt my ears, and my jaw. Maybe I should have tried an XL. Large Arai's in contrast fit me great. My issue with modular helmets is the weight, often 4 pounds. I've been looking at the HJC 90S Carbon because it's lighter, and Champion helmets found it to be one of the quietest. I'm mainly interested in it for winter riding. I used to be a die hard full face wearer, then a modular helmet wearer, but I found both hot and stuffy on hot days, so I purchased a 3/4 helmet with face shield, with the intent of using it only for riding in the heat. Well, I got used to the more open feel, the lighter weight, and I just feel more connected to the ride in it. Now I don't have any desire to go back.
