Beautiful mount, but for some reason I can't get the ExploreStars app to communicate with the mount from my Samsung Galaxy A9+. I don't know what I'm missing. Any pointers?🙏
I just got this mount and it won't move, any help would be great thanks
It's hard to say without knowing your setup
Good morning, thanks for sharing this. I took am new to this so appreciate your adventurous journey of discovery approach to this process. Have you tried Starnet ++ to preserve stars? Love your enthusiasm.
I went out with my daughter on this night and she loved it.
Awesome. The universe can give us quite a show!
have you had any problems with the RA/DEC worm gear adjustments ? I have one, nothing but problems with it. I have the same on board rig as yours, my total rig load is 9.71 lbs, plus the counter weights of 9.1 lbs. I'm having guiding issues both in RA/DEC. can you offer any assistance ?
I have not messed around with the gears. I have just used it as is out of the box. Sorry. My setup is about the same weight.
that was cool!!!
Thanks Jason. It was an amazing show.
I see that your running a explorer scientific eq mount. I need help with mine. Having trouble connecting wireless to Nina.
I do not connect wirelessly. I'm hardwired in. I've heard there is a way to connect wirelessly but I'm not sure how to do it....sorry.
What wires are you using to connect? I’ve tried mini usb with no luck using Nina. Have not tried the RJ12 port yet. I got this mount on sale for $299 and I feel like a made a mistake buying it and looking to sell it.
Thank you for this. It was helpful for a newbie still trying to figure out what all the terms even mean.
I'm glad it helped. Thanks for watching.
Hi AstroEverett. Very nice video indeed! I am planning to buy an Exos2-GT with PMC8. This is my first mount. I liked the mount reviews in terms of less noise and good accuracy, but I am bit skeptical on PMC8 with no hand controller. In your experience, how easy it was to use and how reliable it is? Can it be controlled from an Android mobile phone? People have said that it does not have any PEC. Could you tell me from your experiences if you really missed it in this mount?
Thanks so much.
Having used an equatorial for years, I really enjoyed finding this hack. While I have a CGEMII mount and don't really need it anymore, this is a great "plan B" when everything else has failed. Mr. Wallace's idea was perfect. I literally put it on the inside of the polar scope's tube.
Id been using film cameras for years. Now Im using a digital one and I feel like learning everything from the basics. Now I bought a Celestron C6 XLT and an AVX mount. Id found your video really refreshing because after printing a manual, Id swithed to videos like this on how to proper and align my telescope. Thanks for sharing!
I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for your support.
should i consider this in 2024?
Yes......at least have a look at it and see if it fits your needs. There is a bit to setup software wise but once you do that it's rock solid.
@@AstroEverett can I talk to you on discord? i had some doubts
@astropunekar I'm not on discord sorry.
Hi Everett, I bought the mele a year ago and have still to connect it all up and use nina etc because I just find the whole thing daunting - ascom, nina, phd etc. However, I’m using the mele for processing stuff at the moment. When I switch it on, I’ve added a password to the log in. How do I override this once I start using it remotely? Thanks.
There is a program you have to install on the Mele quiter3 that will bypass having to login. I can't remember what it is but Cuiv the lazy geek covered it on his channel. Check it out. You might be able to find it before I can get home from work.
I’ve bought be same mount a couple weeks ago and could not get this to work. My altitude on the mount was off by 6 degrees. Could never got the opportunity to see Polaris through the polar peep hole until I dropped it down 6 degrees. Once I did that and proceeded to the 3 star alignment and was unsuccessful doing that. Went to the catalog to see to try and view objects through the eyepiece and nothing ever seen through the eye piece. I’ve contacted tech support and gave me some pointers but nothing happened. I bought the iEXOS-100-2 PMC-Eight Equatorial Tracker System with WiFi and Bluetooth for $299 flash sale. Now I’m on the hunt for another eq mount. A lot of complaints about this mount on line.
I'm sorry your experience wasn't positive. It was some trial and research to get mine connected but in the end I figured it out. I don't think this mount was meant for visual PA. I do my PA though Nina.
@@AstroEverett They advertise that it is a versatile mount for visual and astrophotography.
There is a polar scope....but it is separate.
@@AstroEverett I have the same mount, since last oct 2023, I have nothing but problems with the backlash both RA/DEC worm gears. i hate this mount, and regret buying it.
I'm sorry you've had such a bad experience with that mount. It does have its quirks for me at least, but at least for me it's been a pretty stable Mount. But I do agree with you on the backlash and the periodic air. I'm hoping to get either an am3 or an am5 or some other harmonic Mount.
This is the editing I was looking for!!
Thanks.....glad I could help.
Pro Tip start listing your gear used on your for each video in transcript section
did you wver had a problem to connect? I'm still getting the *please wait * on it😢
You need to have the ascom platform and the poth hub drivers installed. They can be both obtained from the Ascom website.
i have an issue trying to connect to my laptop. says * please wait * never connect. any help?
The only thing I can think of is that you have the ascom platform and the poth hub drivers installed.
@AstroEverett so thats mean i need to install more software? i did the data and the explorer star
@cidzavala5522 yes....you have to install the Ascom drivers. Platform and Poth hub drivers
My solution for astrophotography was to not bother with the polar scope any more. I'm in the Southern Hemisphere and even finding Sigma Octantis is a challenge much less aligning to it. I started to just use a guide scope and basic guide camera with the image capture software to polar align. I was getting better results than doing it manually and far faster. This worked even with my Star Adventurer using Sharpcap. You can just rotate the RA axis by hand to the two positions required for the calibration. The actual imagery on that rig was done with a Sony A55 DSLR. I actually added the mini guide scope and guide camera to player with ST4 guiding and found by accident it could be used to Polar align.
Thanks for the comment. I use Nina to polar align now and don't have that mount anymore. I thought I should keep it up just in case someone can use the info. I find the software route much faster as well.
I've had my mount (AVX) do that when using the ASIAir Plus 256 with a C8 plus getting mount disconnect errors on ASIAir. I'm now using NINA on a miniPC and hoping ZWO will fix the mount disconnects. I recently replaced my collimation screws with Bob's Knobs. I spent most of an evening trying to dial it in. I'm going to have to bring the scope out again to try to finish up the collimation. I'm trying a tri Bahtinov mask. I can see the collimation is slightly off but can't see the spikes move when adjusting the knobs. It's frustrating. I like my C8 as a galaxy and planet imager. Nebulas can wait. I can see why more experienced recommend a refractor for newcomers.I've spent more time troubleshooting equipment and software than imaging.
Unfortunately that is the pitfall with SCT's. I hope you get it figured out. Clear skies.
Hello from Santiago, Chile. I am a US citizen, have been living here a long time. I love your channel because we are pretty much on the same page equipment-wise. I started out with a first generation Star Adventurer and recently upgraded to the iExos100. My refractor is an Astro Tech ED72. As you can tell, I cannot afford to spend thousands and thousands of dollars on gear, like most astro-photography guys on You Tube seem to be able to do, and you are using similar equipment to mine and getting some great results. So, keep the videos coming. God bless and Clear Skies!
Welcome to the channel and thank you for the kind words. It's tough making videos as its very time consuming but reading comments like yours makes it worth while. As well like you I don't have thousands to spend on equipment but I work with what I can afford. I'm very happy you like the results. Good luck on your own journey in this awesome hobby. Clear skies to you as well.
Very nice solution with your adaptation! Well done! Indeed, I have purchased some of the excellent Move Shoot Move products which he helped create. Wallace is very sharp.
He is very knowledgeable. Thanks for the comment.
How would you connect this to your phone. They advertised that there an app to operate it but the app is not available for Apple phones. I guess you need a tablet.
I haven't used my phone. There is an app for it but I've never used it. I do use a tablet and laptop.
maybe you could do a colab with him.....🙄
Unfortunately, I do not have that scope and mount anymore. Thanks for your comment though.
its gettin old youtube. if i want to run FF and a AB. i have that right. stop messing with us. ITS NOT RIGHT...
?
Came for the mount review, stayed for the dog squeeze
I cannot get this mount to work with my win 11 laptop, I did serial, while connected wifi, but unfortunately it appears it is not seeing the serial cord even though it says it is present.
Have you updated windows lately? I heard there was a bug with the update that messes up your WiFi. You may want to look into that first 🤷.
Patrick ( France )
Thanks for the comment. Unfortunately I couldn't read the rest cuz it's in French and it didn't translate.
@@AstroEverett great vidéo. Have you tried setting the prédictive mode in PHD. Go to the advanced settings, choose the algorithmes tab and the the right ascension block. Sélect from the drop-down menu : prédictive PEC it works great. Give it a try and see for yourself. Patrick from France
I haven't looked into it but I will....thanks 👍
Great shot! Very impressive.
Thanks.
Well don't forget when it's cloudy. You can always give us tutorial videos on how to use picindight (I always figured how to spell this) and the various exterminators. As well as any reviews of equipment you have. It's plenty of ways to get yourself content. Even off topic stuff. Cheers!
When you're right you're right. Cheers.
-6!! so you didn't have to cool your camera then?!?! 😁glad you were able to get out!
Thanks Jason. I still cooled my camera -10. Lol.
Nice bump music! Couldn't help but dance along to it in my chair! Might want to lower the volume of it though compared to your voice. Nice framing of Andromeda!
Thanks for the input bud.
So this mount is about 300 euros cheaper than the Skywatcher EQ3 pro syncscan but it can handle 2 KG more that the EQ3. is it equal as good ?
Sorry for getting back to you late. I don't know much about the EQ3 so I can't compare that one to the one I have. But all I do know is that it handles my William Optics Z61, my guidescope and guide camera, and my mini computer with no problems. I've heard that this mount can handle up to 16 lb, but I wouldn't recommend taking it that far. You'd want to stay under the 16 lb Mark, just for stability.
I know this is an older video and you've probably changed setups by now, but if not I would recommend a heavier counterweight (or more than one). It's less than ideal to have your weight so far near the end of the shaft, as that can induce tracking inaccuracies! :)
Thanks for the comment. I have changed setups and yes....the extra counter weight helped.
There's alot of steps and complexities of Pixinsight but you seem very confident in your steps and flow. I'm sure that took time, but still awesome bro. Your progress is awesome
Thanks bro. It's really great to find a new process to working on pics. Plus Pixinsight is a great program. Thanks for watching.
I have to say it, this is absolutely brilliant, you saved me a lot of money, brilliant!
Awesome....glad I could help 👍
Great review mate 😁
Thank you sir.
Thanks for sharing this method. I'd suggest swapping that type of polarscope for a more modern one with a clock type face, far more accurate. You can then use the polar alignment ability in the Star Adventurer App to get better alignment. Also you will need to align the polar scope in the polar opening in the mount after removal. Good luck.
Thanks for the input but I no longer own that mount. But I hope someone who has that type of mount can use this information that you've suggested. Thank you
Can it hold a 6in Dob 10lbs?
I would think not.....just for the size factor....not so much the weight.
Thanks for making and sharing this video! Great info and you keep it real. I’be never done the Lion Nebula. You’ve introduced me to a new target to go after. Thanks!
Thanks for the encouraging words. I'm glad you like the video and I'm I'm happy that I've introduced a new target for you to capture.
What's the point of the adapter on top the tripod? Is it in case you didn't find true North accurately when setting up the tripod? I think you are the ONLY one to have actually USED this mount in a video, many others SAY they used it, lol. Thanks.
No... it's to get properly polar aligned.
❤very cool thanks❤
Very nice Everett clear skies!!
Thanks....clear skies as well.
Nice Photo of The nebula!
Thanks 👍
Very nice image 👍🏼👍🏼.
Thank you! Cheers!
Always a challenge when trying to find out what is going on with the image / calibration frames. Inky thing we can do is trial and error . Nice work bro
It was frustrating trying to figure out the problem....but it's all part of the game.
Nice job Everett! This one's on my list
The next clear night.... go for it 🔭
Beautiful image evertt!! Awesome Nebula!
It was fun to image. And thank you for watching.
