Land Based Fishing | Nerang River Whiting
There is something satisfying about catching a feed of fish landbased. In this episode, I travel down the Pacific Highway and fish what is arguably the best Whiting River in Southeast Queensland, the Nerang River. This busy Gold Coast Waterway makes for the perfect whiting habitat, and I didn't walk away disappointed.

    Nice video. I'm wondering what rod you would recommend for whiting/bream etc from the river and also from the boat. I have a 10'6" one piece rod with a soft tip ( a blackfish rod actually), but I'd like to get a slightly shorter whiting 2 piece. I'll be teaming it with a 5" Alvey and 6lb line. So who better than to ask you.

    • @WL_Outdoors
      @WL_Outdoors 16 годин тому

      I reckon 10’ 6” like you have is the perfect Whiting rod. The red rod in this video is a Gary Howard 2 piece Breambo 4W which is that exact length. I know that Gary does a 9’ rod called an “Estuary” which looks good but I’m yet to try one out.

    Do you buy or dig your bloodworms? I'm planning to try a blood worm trap idea I have using bamboo with holes in it, bait in the middle and packed with mud/sand and then buried in a likely spot overnight.

      If I’ve got time, I always prefer to collect my own bait but there is nothing wrong with live worms bought from the tackle shop! Your idea sounds interesting - I’d be keen to hear how you get with it.

Knowing the exact spot is very important for a novice like me, to purely blame on my skills when no luck :) Thank you. Sometimes it's strangely hard to find the exact spot, only with keywords, because of controversial results from google. It shouldn't be a big deal at all for experts but puts big question marks for people like me :) sharing a google maps coordination text (eg. 'M3CM+3V Shorncliffe, Queensland') never goes wrong, but I know it's up to you. Thanks.
