Nice morning session. I do love to get to the Peninsula whenever I can. Have only fished there once, but am keen to find my own special spot. Thanks for sharing 👍
Love Whiting! Can you describe your rod setup please? It doesn't look like your beach chair got any attention :-) Love the sound of the ocean in the background. It is strangely calming. Keep those bending rods in shot! Cheers!!
Margate Beach has been a big disappointment for the last few years. The whiting have been few and far between. Since councils have been grooming beaches and removing seaweed and everything contained in it for safety reasons, beach fishing has declined in these areas. Seaweed is part of the food chain for beach worms. Fifty years ago, you could easly dig beach worms, these days they are all but gone. No seaweed = no worms = no whiting. Cheers
I love surf fishing here in the US. Don't get to do it often though. I think your whiting look a little different from ours. What was the fish you don't want to catch? Very interesting looking reel.
Yep, our Whiting certainly are different to those caught in the US. The bycatch is a tripod fish. Alvey reels are the most durable and user friendly surf fishing reels here in Australia.
Hi Peter, I use Gary Howard Breambo’s 3 wrap and 4 wrap and they are 10’ 6”. The third rod in this clip (the black one), is a Gary Howard Yellowpatch which is about another foot longer and I normally use this one on the surf beaches.
Great video !! Now I know the right spot !!
Glad you enjoyed it, David 🎣

That’s awesome, Ross. The green one in this clip, I got for my 10th birthday 😀

I’m glad you enjoyed it Matthew. Good luck with your next trip on the Peninsula!
Great local Nth Brisi content 👍Love the Alvey.
You know what they say, Mick… “It’s the ALVEY reel that fills the creel”
Excellent channel chief. Great content and good edits. You should do very well. Take care, Wayne.
Thank you Wayne, that means a lot coming from a YT veteran like yourself! Cheers, Will.

What were the Gary Howard rods you were using?
Hi John, in this clip I’ve got a Breambo 3W, Breambo 4w and a Yellowpatch.
Hi mate, would soft plastics work here for the whiting?
It wouldn’t be my preferred method… I’ve caught whiting on plastics while chasing Bream and Flathead but I’ve never done it with any consistency.
Hey mate what exact brand and height was that rod you were using?
