  • Sharing some of my latest astrophotography efforts and some of my hang ups! Identifying our struggles is the first step in overcoming them, and I am trying to overcome some things while maintaining a healthy balance in the process. Bipolar likes to tip the scales in a unhealthy direction, my spirit tries to bring it back into normal alignment. It's a tough walk along a tightrope.

Congratulations on a beautiful image! I thought it was impressive for only 4 hrs total integration. If I’m not mistaken, I think the Inchworm cluster is surrounded by the Butterfly nebula (IC 1318)? CS!

Thank you so much! It really is surprising how much data you can pick up on a relatively dim target under light polluted skies. It does make it more hopeful for more and more targets moving forward. I will look up the Butterfly Nebula and see if that’s correct!! I’d love to know!!

@@Bekindtoyourmind143 I am just getting started with Astrophotography. Buying a piece of equipment at a time...

It definitely is a marathon and not a sprint. You have to start small and work your way up with this hobby as it is far too easy to get in over your head!

The YT algorithm popped your channel up a month or two ago. I guess I had been searching on telescopes etc. anyway I have an old Celestron C8 SCT I got back in the 80’s when Halley’s Comet came by. I used it with a 35 mm camera with 1600 speed film and 7 minute exposures. Lately been thinking of getting back into astronomy. But I’m 76 years old, can’t lug a 75 pound scope in and out, and you guys have equipment I never heard of. So keep it coming. It’s fun to watch.

So happy to have you along on the journey! The technology today has certainly changed the landscape of deep space imaging. If you ever think you might want to try re-enter the hobby with some smaller gear I am happy to give recs. Otherwise, so happy to share the celestial beauty with you! 🌌

Awesome photos. Are they the color you see them as or do you add color?

Thank you so much!! Very often I utilize what color is naturally captured by my specific camera and boost it a little in processing. With other targets I have been known to add a SHO (or other types of filters) provided through pixinsight to add some interest when my lack of data produces a subtle color result on a target.
