USB Port Upgrade

Upgrading the crappy USB ports in the Rig! To these New ports that are Qualcomm QC3.0 rated for fast charge. This new USB charger port does not have the very BRIGHT LED on it. I don't need the bedroom looking like a runway the airport with all the LEDs glowing everywhere. Table Top Upgrade
Переглядів 4324 роки тому
Little bit of a long process. Removed the old table top and replaced with our own top designed with an add-a-leaf. This makes the table top 60" long. Great if you have the need to seat up to 6 people.

Slide Toppers Saber 38DBQ
Переглядів 1,1 тис.4 роки тому
We have been attempting to install slide toppers onto our (4) slide outs. The biggest trouble has been getting a useable product delivered, damage during shipping is the problem. This Video is missing the topper for the bunkroom slide. I think the most critical install here is to the Kitchen slide where everyone is having a water leak by the entry door.
Water Filter Project

Relocation of spare tire to under belly of rig
Переглядів 17 тис.4 роки тому
In the late model 2020 Sabre 38DBQ, they moved the spare tire to the front cargo hold which takes up a significant amount of space. We decided to relocate the spare to the under belly utilizing a BAL Hide-A-Spare carrier. This has freed up that extra space in the front hold to allow for additional storage capacity.

Water heater electric control switch relocation
Переглядів 9 тис.4 роки тому
We were unhappy with the placement of the water heater electric control switch. On the 38DBQ it is located on the outside of the camper in the water heater access panel. This is very inconvenient for turning on and off. We decided to rewire it and move it to the same location as the rest of the control modules in the camper.
Replacing stock pin box with Trailair Air Ride pin box
Переглядів 13 тис.4 роки тому
We decided to replace our existing stock pin box with a Trailair Air Ride pin box. We are hoping this will reduce chucking, eliminate bouncing and jarring to produce a smoother ride. Not an easy task and definitely requires at least 2 people.
Bed Pedestal Upgrade
Переглядів 2,1 тис.4 роки тому
I have seen many complaints about beds sagging after awhile and ours was no different. The first time we laid on the bed we noticed the poor support of the framing so we decided to upgrade it. This video shows what the framing was from the factory and what we did to upgrade it to prevent sagging. We probably should have videoed us getting the mattress out and back in the bedroom. That was a fea...

    Finding it odd that you didn't just flip the pan instead of drilling a second hole. Is it because you wanted a higher hole?

    I'm getting ready to install this exact dryer vent cover and I have 1 question. If you silicone sealed the chrome plastic outer cover to the side of the RV, how do you clean out the hose. My understanding(and no instructions came with mine), is you're😢 supposed to remove those 2 screws at the bottom of the chrome cover, it then slips up and off so you can easily lift up the vent flap and clean out the dryer hose. The butyl tape was a good idea. Any problems.

    I have a 1994 Skyline Nomad that I’ve been going through it and replacing a lot of old things. Mostly with better electric components. I went out to check my shackles and mine have the heavy duty shackles. Those were probably the standard back when my trailer was built. Everything now is built with barely adequate!

    Instead of always checking the air in the spare I just carry a battery powered compressor so it don't matter what the pressure is. I will fill it up before installing it.

    Did you wire the original switch in series with the new switch ? That would allow you to “lock out” the water heater when it’s empty. I would add a light to the new switch. I’m doing a similar mod to my trailer but will use a 12V relay to do the switching right at the water heater. Actually Suburban do offer that control as an option on their tanks using a relay and a two switch panel to wall mount inside the RV. Amazon sells the relay and panel to upgrade the tank. Your manufacturer saved a couple of dollars buying a cheaper model. Using a relay also avoids mixing the 12V wiring with 110V wiring on that wall. I would have used a proper electrical box and switch for the 110 V circuit per electrical code in case of a future insurance issue.

    One thing to minimize the chance for a blow out is check the damn tire pressure before you leave and get a tire pressure monitoring system, they're pretty cheap and most monitor temps so you can stop before you have a major issue.

    That hole suspension is garbage the spring hangers are too light and weak side to side motion will crack them there too thin.even those axles look pathetically week..

    Observation: A quick gooogle shows "never-fail" bushings are now availeable for many brands of "cushion style" equalizers. I'm a long time bronze guy. Sorry but bronze wear out. I also discovered all kits comes as kits with correct shackles. My kit is Dexter E-Z. Lastly never lift a trailer like that. You will put the axles in an "axle flip" where theskackles flop over. Like his clearly does. He's forced to use ratchet straps fixing a potentially dangerous fuster cluck. One at a time works fine . . . unless you like buying extra jacks and jack stands and bricks . . .and your wife laughs at you. Or the engineer across the street walks over and asks "wtf are you doing ?" and takes a cell phone photo to show back at work.

    I find it moot point to increase the shackle connectors thickness when the original is the same thickness as the spring hanger that you are not thickening. Forest River did not design these axels or suspension system so to blame them is not really fair either. They only support 7000 pounds per axel on a trailer that does not change in weight that much.

    • @jandblawncare8570
      @jandblawncare8570 2 роки тому

      I was wondering the same thing, after seeing how thin that bracket is. Im no Engineer but would think it gets all of it's strength from being vertical and no side to side movement where as the shackles might have more all around movement, IDK just a thought.

    not all new RV's have the 'plastic' bushings and paper thin shackles out of the factory. My 2020 Montana 3741 FK came with the upgraded shackles with wet bolts and one of the best equalizers. I wish they would upgrade the axles to an 8 ton versus 7 even though the trailer max's out at 14,000 lbs, I would like to have that extra security with an 8 ton axle. At least Keystone didn't go cheap on the suspension. Nice that a company would do that.

    Gee American trailers have tiny leaf springs compared to Australian built trailers. They just don't cut in in Australia. Also they don't seem to use rock and roll suspension which is strange considering the size of their rigs. This whole set up needs to be upgraded with heavy duty spring, hangers, U bolts to last the life of the rig.

    Totally agree....Lippert has probably killed people being broke down on the highway from broken springs and hangers. I don't understand their cheapness. Charge us the extra $20 it would take to do it right! Wish another company would try to compete with them.

    Please also note the exterior switch is there only to make sure you turn off the water heater everytime you empty it for maintenance and as nothing to do with its normal operation. Like I said leave it there. If you want to control the water heater from inside install the kit switch and 12 volts relay. Please update your video as well.

  • @benjoseph260
    @benjoseph260 2 роки тому

    You didn't show where you spliced the wire and how you routed it through the water heater. The best way to do this is to leave the original switch and wire the switch inside the coach at the junction box at the water heater (at romex connection). This leaves water heater in stock configuration and makes it easier to replace if you ever need to.

    Do these really work? I mean it still is an equalizer connected to the frame by one bolt. You will still get movement from side to side same as stock metal equalizer. Is there really enough force to activate any Dampening from the rubber. There is also movement in the shackles as well. Initially I thought about purchasing but videos I have seen of them in action made me second guess them. What can you say to convince me they are worth the near $300 asking price ?
