Orange River Adventure! (CREATURES THAT GO BUMP IN THE NIGHT)
We were based in the small community of Onseepkans in the Northern Cape. Each week after completing our 4 designated sections of the mighty Orange River, we rotated back to basecamp, Sopnat. In this video, well.. it’s a restless night. We spotted hyena near camp. In the early hours of the morning I was woken by what sounded like the distress call of a cub that was separated from its mother. It was quite disturbing knowing the only way for her to rescue her pup would be to walk right past my tent. There was no other way except for a narrow corridor to my right. It was a tense situation and I was very unsettled, hence the horror theme intro. Hope you guys like the video.
As always, thanks for watching and I’ll see you again in the next video, cheers!

Orange River Adventure! (WELCOME TO THE GORGE)

We were based in the small community of Onseepkans in the Northern Cape. Each week after completing our 4 designated sections of the mighty Orange River, we rotated back to basecamp, Sopnat. In this video I paddle the dead-water stretch of the river on day 3 and chat about my favourite spot, The Gorge. It’s rough, wild and extremely remote, but absolutely stunning in every way. As always, thank...

We were based in the small community of Onseepkans in the Northern Cape. Each week after completing our 4 designated sections of the mighty Orange River, we rotated back to basecamp, Sopnat. Our days between river trips meant unwinding & recharging, and in this video we celebrate “surviving” Big Bunny with our Survivor Dance! It was a total riot. I have no clue how to dance but I did it it anyw...

We were based in the small community of Onseepkans in the Northern Cape. Each week after completing the 4 designated sections of the mighty Orange River, we rotated back to our basecamp, Sopnat. Our days between river trips meant the odd side-quest and in this short video I helped out by driving an original vintage 1969 Land Rover called Sandy. We were based in the small community of Onseepkans in the Northern Cape. Each week after completing the 4 designated sections of the mighty Orange River, we rotated back to our basecamp, Sopnat. Our days between river trips meant the odd side-quest and in this video I met up with Jurie & Willie (brothers), and I had a total "blast" shooting their homemade potato canon. We were based in the small community of Onseepkans in the Northern Cape. Each week after completing our 4 designated sections of the mighty Orange River, we rotated back to basecamp, Sopnat, our campsite. In this short video we’ve just completed our very first rotation and chat about it, sharing our thoughts. I also dropped a few clips as a teaser of what's still to come in the videos to follow...
Hammock in the woods, it got real COLD! (Whipstock Guest Farm, McGregor)
Переглядів 2593 роки тому
It was an awesome double nighter at Whipstock Guest Farm. The first evening we were hosted in a fully equipped and very quaint little cottage. A real lovely, neat, cozy little spot. The next night I found myself exploring the woods, pitching camp in a small clearing between gums and wattles next to a little stream. It got real cold and the fire was an absolute lifesaver. Granted I was a little ...
Orange River Adventure! (RIVER GEAR SEGMENT)

Week 6 - the Gorge, Namibian side (down river from Onseepkans, Northern Cape)! I was asked to show my gear, so I pitched a little bit away from camp and filmed a short video showing you every piece of gear I had with me on the river. This is not a gear review by any means but maybe it'll help the next person planning for a similar adventure? I also wanted to learn a new editing skill - animated...

What a total surprise! I’ve never yet had someone reach out and send me a product before. I was over the moon. Also, I’ve never used a 360 camera either. It’s all very new to me. I tried filming a little in the local park but had no clue what I was doing. Even the camera settings were all wrong but, it’s a learning curve and something I’m eager to explore and bring into my camping videos. Let’s...

*EPISODE 1 (My 7 Seven Week Orange River Adventure) - 04:08, it’s an early morning start to the adventure. We drive 9 hours north to the settlement of Onseepkans in the Northern Cape. Sometimes life happens when one least expects it. Although Covid has dealt us all a huge blow, it did bless me with an incredible opportunity. I spent 7 weeks living in my tent, taming the raging waters of the mighty Orange River, and embarking on some rather unexpected side-quests. We were based in the small informal community of Onseepkans, Northern Cape. Situated right across from the Namibi...
22 Waterfalls Campsite! (Beers, Frogs, Rain & Big Bellied Floppers)

Another awesome double nighter with some spectacular waterfalls. We stayed at 22 Watervalle just outside Porterville, WC. I’ve been here before but didn’t get a proper look at the waterfalls because I was so ill prepared the first time. This time, however, I planned to spend an extra night to explore the spot better. Day 1 we were hit by a heavy thunderstorm and ended up sheltering in the van. ...

My Double Nighter Camp! (Rock Art, Friends, Beers & a Mole)

This was an awesome camp and an incredible spot to visit. Gecko Creek Wilderness Lodge is nestled between the mountains close to the town of Clanwilliam up the West Coast. In the video I mentioned it was west of the N7 highway, correction it's to the east. The property spans a rather large area of natural fynbos and a very picturesque landscape. Life here is meant to be slow paced, relaxed and ...

Found your video as a result of my desire to build a “bug out” bag of sorts on a budget. I have a few essentials: knife, bigger knife, hatchet, twine(in place of cordage) plastic wrap (of the kind used on pallets in factories for storage and moving) duct tape(the really good grey variant) a flint rod, sharpener for the blades, and a rope saw. I believe I still need either a quality tarp or another shower curtain, 2 big garbage bags, and a compass. This was quite helpful as it proves a theory of mine right( to an extent, I still need to find a performance video of it being used in actual rainy weather) but nonetheless I thank you 🙇‍♂️ 🙏 🐉 🔥

Great new episode Jason. Hammocking in winter and restricting your supplies is not Rookie stuff. I like this R50 Runts challenge. I think it can be expanded upon. For example, how much would 50gm of oats cost? How much rice is = to 1 portion and what is the cost? I know I use 1 cup for 4 people when cooking at home, so 1/4 for one person. I recon R50 Runts will go quite far if done that way, and can produce some YUM chows. Things that make you go hmmmmmm........ Anyhoo, I am now so jags for a wildcamp and I have lectures to prepare and clients stuff to do and my head is in the forest scheming R50 Runt menus. Darnit
