43 days till I leave for the Idaho BDR
43 days till I leave on the Idaho BDR. I’m sharing some very short videos of the build due to time constraints. The idea is to have a review of the parts and overall build after I get to travel with it a little. For now I’ve still got to shoehorn in build time before the trip. Big shout out to my buddy Chris who has invested his time into it as well. Enjoy!

Installing Airlift 1000 airbags on a Jeep Gladiator
Переглядів 7987 місяців тому
Winter weather hit the south this weekend. Motorcycling has made way for a bit of a Jeep Gladiator addition. I’m adding Airlift 1000 air springs assist kit to the rear of the truck. This will help with the sag that happens when you load a couple bike, rooftop tent or add towing weight to the vehicle. It’ll also help a bit with the ride while carrying weight. I purchased this from Summit Racing ...

Ten riders set out for some dual sport dirt riding near Leiper’s Fork, TN. We did about 173 miles on a mix of dirt, gravel, and backroads. In this episode you’ll see a KTM with mechanical trouble, a Versys 300x skid out on the gravel, and a GS assault a steep grade. Be sure to hit the bell or subscribe to see part 2 of this ride-where we take our bikes into an abandoned mine a little bit. There...

No. I ended up selling it. It was probably one of the best looking bikes I’ve owned. Loved it while I had it…and would love to have another Guzzi. So many bikes…so little time(and cash).

I am about to pull the trigger on a used one for the same bike and appreciate the overview. Luckily, the fashion police stick to the local cruising strips watching for DRZ400 Supermotos. I have yet to see one on an adventure trail. Personally, I like the way that tank makes the bike look; it is more muscular and ready for serious adventure.

I didn't realize anybody had a camera that day. That was me on the Versys-x 300. I live in the area and had ridden most of those roads. I had never been down that road. I learned a lesson that day. Don't ride fast on a road you are unfamiliar wtih. I was going around 40-45 mph when I saw the curve. I think I got it down to 10-15 mph when I went down. I thought I had made it and then the front wheel slid out from under me. I had to get on both brakes to slow it down and I'm not sure if it locked up or just slid on the rocks. It knocked the wind out of me for about 10 seconds. I had on all my gear and didn't have a scratch on me, therefore reaffirming my belief that you should always wear your safety gear at all times when riding a motorcycle. It cost me around $550 to fix the bike. I've been riding it and it rides fine. Those guys were really nice to me. I actually felt bad for everyone having to stop and slowing them down. I think I apologized a few times for messing up the ride. They made sure that I was ok and that the bike could make it 11 miles back to the house.

I just zip tied mine along the speedometer cable. It’s just an exhaust hose to relieve any tank pressure. On the DRZ it doesn’t go back to the tank

Super sexy AND functional...its got soul and compared to a Triumph scrambler the valve adjustments can be done in the field with minimal tools

Hokey smokes bud, the wife and I must have been a day or two ahead or behind you. We stayed at the same cabin, and the green KLX300 was owned by retired airforce hurcules pilot. He and I do the same thing, look at google maps, and turn the terrain on, then find the best roads we can in the areas that we are traveling too. We both had found a lot of the same roads, but he rode them, where it was the wife's and my first time in the southeast. The group kiddie corner from you were from Alabama if I remember right, and the owner of the white Honda Interceptor(?) was a mad wizard with modifying stuff onto it. We spent almost an hour talking about the stuff we've modded and made for our bikes. Next time we have time in the area, I'll have to have a go on the SM500. We did a portion of the dirt road on HWY32 (Redneck Tail of the Dragon), until we came to a river crossing where the step up of the rocks was too much for me to get over. Gorgeous country down there. We have yet to get to West Virginia yet, and we here a lot of people say that it's better than all the hot spots in Tennessee and the Carolinas. More dirt is always better when you're on something for it.

I have a WR 250 great bike, so I don’t know why Yamaha quit making them aren’t the greatest, but the most bulletproof and way better than the Honda 300 L or the KLX 300 anyway I got 17,000 miles on mine still running like new I’d like to find another good used one with low mileage the kicker is I work for Yamaha and could get one for 35% off but they don’t make it anymore so my next choice would be a WR 450 converted to dual sport but that’s too much of a hassle for me and the 700 T I really wouldn’t care for good video. I live in Madisonville Tennessee close to Tellico Plains so I ride a lot of that area.

I have now tried it from the road. My wife did complain that it picked up some wind noise on the interstate but for town travel and under 60mph it worked well. A friend and I took a little trip and it was about the same…higher speeds led to picking up wind noise. The internal mics are descent but a boom mike is just better I think.
