My friends make fun of my 'big" KLR 650 out on trails - they all enjoy nimble and powerful bikes like middleweight KTMs, XRs, DRs and XT Yamahas.I've helped pick up a 1200 GS or 2 on the NE BDR in the Catskills and honestly, you need a checkup from the neckup to be taking any bike that size down single track. I can see how fire roads and powerline roads could be fun, or when you get on the paved road. Now, If I see a GS - or a HD PanAmerican (yup, helped pick those up as well) - I go the other way on my KLR if I'm out alone, because you just know it's not if, but when you'll be involved in a rescue mission with those oversized behemoths!
