      I think the FD Mk4 could make a cardboard box feel like a road bike, it's that good! The Coosa is on a whole new level for me though, and I love it!

    Great overview Jeff. I had a chance to peddle that a few weeks ago and also enjoyed it. Sick yak!

    Great walkthrough. How's the stability? Easy standing?

    • @jeffdicks
      @jeffdicks  Рік тому

      This thing is a tank. I stand in it often and it feels rock solid, even with some wind and chop. Obviously in high wind/wave conditions you don't really want to be standing in any kayak, but the Coosa FD Mk4 does a great job of making me feel secure

    Does the seat rock when you’re pedaling? I just ordered mine today. I have a blue sky 360 and the drive is pretty amazing.

    • @jeffdicks
      @jeffdicks  Рік тому +1

      Not that I have noticed, and I'm sure if it was rocking I would have noticed 😉

      @@jeffdicks I had a Knarr and the front seemed to want to rock a little. Thanks for the response

      How are you liking your Coosa FD?

    • @jeffdicks
      @jeffdicks  7 місяців тому +1

      Still in it and I LOVE it. I do miss paddling my Liska, but the Coosa has so much utility with the FD drive. I can take it out in worse weather, get places faster with less effort, troll more effectively, just to make a couple of things

    I've heard that seat likes to move back and forth alot when peddling. Have you experienced this?

    • @jeffdicks
      @jeffdicks  7 місяців тому

      I have not. My seat slider has never slipped on me and it is solid when I'm peddling. I've no experience any back and forth movement

    This was a great review of your kayak Jeff. Man that is a nice kayak you got man. I like the storage space you have. I really really like the pedal drive kayak. I am trying to upgrade to a pedal drive kayak but the problem I am having is the pedal are not wide enough for my feet 🦶. Question buddy were did you get the wide pedal for your kayak at? All of the pedal drive that I have tried they were to small for my extremely wide feet 🦶 I have. Also I saw you had on water shoes on for the race. Wear did you get the wide water shoes from cuz I couldn't find extremely wide water shoes when I was looking for some. I am glad you are enjoying your kayak man. Good video buddy thanks you for sharing it. I really really would appreciate your help buddy.

      Those are the pedals that come with the Jackson Mk4 Flex drive! Many people have swapped them out with after market pedals, but I'm quite happy with the stock ones that came with them. As for the water shoes, they are just a random no-name brand and I got them at Walmart a couple years ago. I had to buy a size up to get a pair that would fit the width of my foot, but even now, they are starting to burst at the sides. But thats also why I went to Walmart for them, I think they were like $15-20 and they've lasted me 2 years, so I can't complain too much.

      I'm not sure what the plan is for this boat just yet, but keep an eye out on Frontenac Outfitters socials, when it goes up for sale, you might see it there first

    Would you still recommend this yak today? It is MSRP for 3500. I do like it, but not sure if the value is there.

    • @jeffdicks
      @jeffdicks  7 місяців тому

      The only way to know for sure if the value is there for YOU is to get in one and try it out. I always recommend test paddling a kayak if possible before commiting to buying it.
      I can tell you that for ME, it is absolutely worth the price tag. I can take this kayak into small back lakes, or I can take it onto the Great Lakes and feel as safe, or sometimes safer, than in my 16.5ft deep V boat. In fact, there are lots of times I've taken my Coosa FD onto Lake Ontario in Conditions I wouldn't take my boat out in.
      Everyone has their own limits based on experience, however, and as much as I loved my Liska, there's no way I would have ever taken it out on ANY lake in 35km/h winds, but my Coosa with the Flex drive handles those conditions without breaking a sweat. That fact alone has helped me increase my time on the water, sure, I'm not going to be out there standing and casting in high wind/wave conditions, but I can peddle out to an area and drift with a jig or dropshot, or do some actual trolling easily. Trying to PADDLE into 35-40km/r headwinds is just something I never want to do again. But peddling the Flex Drive into headwinds like that is easy.
