Early January Ice

After the dumping of snow we got over Christmas here in Southeastern Ontario, the weather took a horrible turn and became very warm and very wet virtually destroying any ice that had a chance to form.
On the flip side, this January melt appeared to have reset the ice conditions on a few lakes that tend to freeze up a little bit earlier than the rest and a halfway decent coldsnap one night was enough to firm up the ice again on this particular lake.

Always have your safety gear on you when venturing out onto the ice, SPECIALLY early ice! You're safety is your responsibility, use your spud bar and never take anyones word on ice thickness, ALWAYS check for yourself!
