Meanwhile I don't know how many times I have felt the urge to reflect on this marvellous artist - I have followed her career from her early steps as wondermaiden Kanade to the established master drummer Miss Sato she has become by now - not from the very beginning, but I can estimate what artistic evolvement has taken place. Her prowess and her merits have been praised by many, artist and artistry get appreciated, admired; occasionally I read the term "love". What I for one like most is that, no matter which musical project she is involved in, she devotes her talent, her skills, her musicality to the respective general musical concept, she is always an integral, equivalent part of the assembled structural elements that finally all together form an artistically coherent piece of popular music. Kanade's percussion arrangement is a solid rhythmical foundation you can build a house on; it simply always means an augmentation of the general musical impact. Nevertheless it's usually sophisticated and occasionally she refines it, as required, to the smallest possible rhythm particles - that's ensemble playing at the highest level. There is a video clip from 2023 (a Roppongi Claps performance) that was available in the YT only for a moment, "Geothermal", you might call it a piece of world music, composed by Kanade's father Masanori Sato, where her special approach to drumming is very salient: A well-fitting portion of pathos, a mighty orchestration, relentlessly precise drum roll sequences, a rhythm arrangement that literally embraces the tonal action and meets all dynamic requirements, following sort of lock-and-key model: No hit is dispensable, no hit is missing. However, the hard way seems to be more than an option to her. And when you see Kanade start the engine it's inevitable to appreciate her smoking drumheads and the glowing cymbals, particularly when standing as a veteran singer at the edge of stage and transmitting the drummer's blast wave to the audience. Yes, Mr. Martin, your desire is comprehensible and you're almost right with your request: "Hit me, Kate (Kanade) Sato!" Such ignorance is rather disturbing and not comprehensible. Her name is Miki Otake (no speed metal pieceworker, she primarily treats drums and cymbals finely). In one case she plays in the same club, plays with the same musicians, plays even the same music as Kanade Sato. She also does Dirty Loops covers of her own. - It's nothing but a grave omission to overlook her. Thanks for doing a video on Kanade, such a great drummer and easily one of the best. I love her relaxed, chill style. Koiai is a perfect band for her, So happy to see it.

One of my favorite drummers, I love her work with Muses and Koiai. I think she has a very smooth, but also powerful style. She was born to be a drummer, those early videos when she was just a little girl are just unbelievably technical and musical for someone who wasn’t even 10 years old at the time.

I've watched her videos for many years is this the same girl that did the Toto melody clips she's great😊
